I do have to quibble about the Beyoncé song. I am far from a Beyoncé stan (deeply unimpressed until “Lemonade”). Her song “Break My Soul” came out of a time where it’s speaking for other people that are less fortunate. It’s refreshing that even though she’s incredibly wealthy woman, she can realistically know the struggles of people who don’t have it as well-off as she does. The fact you mentioned Jennifer Lopez, who definitely couldn’t pull it off in “Jenny from the Block”. Also, the Great Resignation has been happening for over three years now, so seeing articles blaming Beyoncé for a phenomenon that was already been happening for years. For 2022, there were a lot of marginalized groups who really felt this song because it felt like solidarity, especially the LGBTQ communities with a feature by Big Freedia. Speaking of Big Fredia, he is a New Orleans bounce artist who has been well known in queer circles for years, and was featured in Drake’s “Nice for What”. P. S. - Holy mackerel, am I hearing a music reviewer who *knows* music theory? It frustrates so much as a dedicated listener to music and someone who knows music theory to hear people talk about music with not knowing the fundamentals. I appreciate that.

You really sure did this list justice! For one, that tribute you made at the beginning of this video to JJ Discussions. I absolutely loved it! I wish I've gotten to see more of him when was alive. One of my regrets. Then the majority of the songs on this list. Oh boy. Some of it you really shed light on. Regardless, I love a few of those songs mentioned on this list. Notably, (and there's a chance you'll hate me for this), the number one song on this list, "ABCDEFU" by GAYLE. Yup. I said it. I'm very well aware of both the nature and the origin behind this song, yes. However, I still choose to enjoy it. That was one of the songs that got me through a lot of BS this past year. So it's a guilty pleasure for me... Not mention, there are other songs in her catalog like "Dumbass". That one is a banger in my opinion. So is the dishonorable mention in your future Shades edit. "Victoria's Secret" by JAX. One of my absolute favorites that came out this year. It nearly makes me cry. Ok enough about that. 18:10 that's not 21 Savage on the first verse, that's actually Project Pat who is a very well known rapper in Memphis hip-hop as he is part of Three 6 Mafia. That entire verse was sampled from a song he did with Three 6 member Juicy J and 21 Savage is providing ad libs over the verse. Project Pat is known to have that exact flow throughout a lot of his discography which has became his signature sound to a lot of fans.

CHERRY* *_PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE~_* Number seven... It's an overhyped theme song for an overhyped Netflix show which is only popular through dank memes showing cursed imagery.
