As do I. The first Avengers animated series, "United We Stand", wanted so badly to be the X-Men animated series...and then they didn't even include their Big Three.

So true at least in the comics and the animated series the x men seemed a lot cooler due to their unique powers that they were born with for the most part.

@@m2k33311 Iron Man had his own solo show at the time, with a small cast of West Coast Avengers. Captain America had a film being made, but it had a bottom-of-the-barrel budget and was a bit of an embarrassment. Thor...ya got me, I have no idea. Maybe his power set was too similar to Storm's?

I think this countdown was spot on, except for one glaring omission: X-Men 2 - Clone Wars on SEGA Genesis. Better than its predecessor in many ways, and I think was one of, if not the first, X-Men game to have Magneto as a playable character when unlocked. C'mon now! Opportunity missed, ScrewAttack! (Even if it only got an honorable mention.)

You speak the truth Oda, it was the only thing I could think of. They kinda let historical importance trump "best" in the categories. I literally still listen to the soundtrack of that game, it's so funky but like the rawest synth soundtrack ever.

The MUGEN community uses the MvC engine to create some pretty fantastic fan-made fighting games. Look up "Super X-Men: Children of the Atom" for the follow-up game we deserved. Of course, I had some nitpicks with its roster, but the beauty of MUGEN games are, they're customizable. I have my own version of the game with over 100 characters from the MU, primarily focussed on those who are or have ties with the X-Men universe.

0:04 Knuckles in the background is proof positive that ScrewAttack! does read comments on their videos. Remember when that Knuckles plush toy use to be facing down like it was trying to give itself head? lol Well last Thursday I remember making a comment pointing that out. Now today, Knuckles is sitting upright.

He isn't. His ACTING in that game was terrible. Then again, there were some amazing voice actors in that game -- Patrick Stewart, Armin Shimmerman, Steve Blum, Grey DeLisle-Griffin -- and even so the performances felt incredibly wooden and forced, except during victory quotes. I blame poor voice directing.

X2 Clone Wars had a stage select (it was a code). I think you mean the first level didn't let you choose a character. It was interesting in that as soon as you booted up the game, you were in the first level with a random character. No logos or credits. So you could just press reset until you got who you wanted. After beating that first level, you could choose your character for each level.

I had that game. It was ok for what it was, but it would get old pretty quickly. Definitely not a repeatable game

There are two games sorely missing from this list. 1) X-Men: Next Dimension. Amazing arcade-style fighting game, probably my favorite one. Featured The Blob, Toad, Dark Phoenix, Sentinels, Havok, Lady Deathstrike, and a bunch of others as playable characters. And the environmental interactions were amazing. 2) X2: Wolverine's Revenge. Best X-Men game ever at the time, such awesome combat systems, great storyline, and it really felt like you were playing as Wolverine. I know Next Dimension sorta flew under the radar, so it can be excused, but the fact this game wasn't even mentioned is a travesty. A TRAVESTY, I SAY!

I enjoyed Next Dimension for a while, but I admit, it lacked the polish and visual punch of the Capcom fighters. Still had an incredible roster, though.

So many good memories at the arcades, MK the actual X-Men arcade game 6 player. Primal Rage etc. The quarter machine running out of quarters and having to get the big black guy to help us. We loved him

Clone Wars on Genesis at #11? wth. Also "no level select"? I think you meant no _character_ select, and that's only when you boot it up the first time, just beat the level or die and you can pick a character...

I agree. It’s fast paced nature, two player co-op, and it not restricting players power usage like the first genesis game nets it up there with the SNES game.

JAYDOGGY Marvel Heroes Omega is the closet we've got so far, but it's just not the same. Also if they made a MUA3 today, the X-Men would get completely ignored. Look at Lego Marvel 2!

Spain Cain Yeah, easily my favorite X-Men arcade-style fighting game. Unless you count ones that featured the X-Men but weren't X-Men exclusive, in which case, Marvel vs Capcom 2 took that cake.

The xmen were based on the studies of Japanese Children during the effects of ww2. Scientists hypothesized that their was a chance for the children could gain strange "uncanny" abilities, such as turning into metal and control of ice. . When the files leaked "project:xmen" in the 60's the government hired Stan lee, already famous for works like captain America, to create the comic book Xmen and discredit their findings. Oh I also have no idea what I'm talking about. Keep asking questions

I can't believe how many of these I had. I loved both Genesis games, when I was a kid. X-Men 2 let you play as Magneto once you beat him.

i had the GBA version of x-men: the official game, however i soon realized when i want to find a guide for all the secrets for the game that there were like 6 other ports and each had a different story and 4th playable character other than wolverine, iceman, and nightcrawler. needles to say but i never found a guide to it

X-Men 2 Clone Wars was easily top 3 material for this list. Furthermore, you didn't get stages at random. it took you through each stage one by one, like all old games did.

He meant the character select at the start. You were randomly assigned a character and dropped into the Siberia stage. Though it wasn't that random, as I always got Gambit when the game booted up.

All you had to do was reset the game till you got someone you wanted.

Maybe that's true. I only ever played the 2 player mode (i was lucky enough to have a brother). With 2P mode you could select characters. So I guess I never noticed the forced character selection.

Eli I you can reset it on 2 player mode to. The first level is always random characters.

Someone forgot to mention Sega Saturn's ARCADE PERFECT port of X-Men vs Street Fighter...C'mon!!! This was the first time in history we had a truly arcade perfect port at home. That was a milestone worth mentioning. The PSX version was neutered garbage.

Ultimate Alliance has Cyclops,Wolverine, Storm,Iceman, Colossus, Nightcrawler,Magneto,and Sabertooth in it. If we're counting Lego's Marvel,the Ultimate Alliance absolutely counts.

X men mutant academy 2 for ps1 should be on this list. It had awesome controls it was fun and dove into the back stories of the xmen. The roster of fighters was excellent

At #4, the Genesis X-Men game was actually one of the cartridges I owned during the late 90's/early 2000's. It really was a rush of a game, with a clever 4th Wall Break in Mojo's World (Stage 4 or 5), and an equally clever level skip cheat that effectively sees you hacking the Danger Room. With that said, people are quicker to recall the awesome that was X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, as well as X-Men II: The Clone Wars.

Clone Wars was amazing, but it would have benefitted from the addition of backup X-Men. I can never have enough Storm in my X-Men games, even as I freely admit flying characters kill the challenge of platform games.

They didn't; it was an honorable mention. The character select problem at the start of the game was the reason they gave for not placing it on the list. That, and the video maker is a self-proclaimed Wolverine fanboy who had to have Origins on the list.

I had a SNES and I begged for a Genesis for Christmas just for X-Men. X-Men and Road Rash 2 were worth buying a Genesis in and of themselves

I think this list is spot on! I was about to say something about X-men 2 missing, but I see it's tacked on at the end lol. That game was also good. Speaking of being notable too, I would have mentioned that very Psycho Mantis-y part of the game where you have to literally reset the console to keep the game going on the Genesis. That was way ahead of its time. Long live COTA. If it had Gambit, it'd have been perfect. I had it on the Saturn :)

I love me some Dazzler! X-Men arcade would be number 1 on my personal list, although I do love me some Children of the Atom. I was sad to see Clone War didn't make the top 10.

FYI, Raven got it's balls cut off by Activision and only do Calladoody map packs these days. So there's not gonna be any more awesome Wolverine games and you can thank Activi$ion for that.

I agree with these 10 games, *or* at least the ones I've played. Can't agree with the order, though. A pet peeve of mine is *any* game where a slow filling meter limits your powers. It is so *lame* when Wolverine is apparently "too tired" to use his claws and has to punch normally. XP
