The entire collection is amazing and thank you for all these wonderful photos. I do have several favourites though: 1) Clarence H White: Girl with a Mirror 1898; 2) Dali Atomicus: 1948 (So Dali:) 3) Fire Escape Collapse: 1975 (incredibly tragic and a 'once in a life time' shot); 4) Julia Margaret Cameron's: Portrait of Sir John Heschel 1867.

In all the times I’ve viewed the Migrant Mother photo, I never noticed a crucial detail until today. I was always so mesmerized by the anguish in the mother’s face, I missed the fact that she was holding a baby! Such a powerful photograph!

I agree with you. For example, the photos of the children working in the cotton mills were taken by Lewis Hine and helped to regulate child labor, how come he doesn’t get proper credit?

> The Clarence White _Girl with a Mirror_ is a gorgeous photo, and Mr. White was ahead of his time > I remember the hubbub over the Demi Moore photo, which is exquisite > Those poor shackled elephants > I would love to know the story behind this version of _American Gothic_ > Hitler’s swastika is the reverse version of several non-Christian religions’ symbol for life > The Grand Prix photo is absolutely brilliant in how the photographic ability of the camera couldn’t keep up with the car’s movement, thereby showing the movement itself by the acute angle of the background figures > @7:00…so, not the Wright Brothers after all… It’s an absolutely gorgeous photo > Sir John Hershel invented the blueprint > I remember the Munich Olympics massacre > The JFK assassination was the first time I ever saw adults cry…I was seven years old > The Valley of the Shadow of Death is from the Crimean War, taken in 1855: _La plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose_ > The U.S.-led assassination of Salvador Allende is but one ugly stain on my country’s interference in another country’s national affairs > I saw Mao in his mausoleum in 1988, the year before an exceptionally brave young man stood up to Deng’s tanks > Muhammad Ali was the only boxer I ever really watched-he was most definitely the Greatest of All Time! I especially enjoyed how he trash-talked his opponents as he waited for them to come after him. > The _Nuit de Noël_ photo is wonderful-I love how it captures the young woman’s shyness and quiet joy > Does the “Untitled Film Still†look like Diana, Princess of Wales, to anyone else? > “Behind Closed Doors†is still too often a portrait of women’s lives > The “Case Study House No. 22†is but a small dose of what L.A. was like before the Clean Air Act of 1966 > GAAAH-I absolutely cannot handle seeing dudes sitting on a steel beam stories above the ground > YAY!-a photo of The Beatles I had never seen until now This is one of your best collections-good job!

@7:00 John T. Daniels was the photographer and therefore witness of the first flight by the Wright brothers in 1903

Most certainly is the Wright Brothers, why did you not think it was? Did you get confused with the name there? The photographers name. That photo is iconic as the Wright Brothers first flight.

Thank you for adding comments. I wish the channel would do the same. Maybe some of these items didn't "change history" but they were certainly caused a stir in their time, such as the Demi Moore photo and the leap from the falling fire escape. In others, I'm not sure of who all these people were and why the photo is important.

the picture with the raccoon coats; I wonder how many raccoons took to make one coat, raccoons are tiny. sad to see that, and child labor.

I'm gonna venture a guess and say the (untitled)cowboy around 17mins is the Marlboro man.. (the untitled) film still - could it be from A Hitchcock's, The Birds? every picture tells a story-- to each person who looks at them .. yes they capture a moment in time, but @oldcollegecoed made the point I'm tryin to make- a detail can be missed. I think a picture can be like an onion..

The invasion of Prague, Czechoslovakia, was a frightening event for the Western World, because it epitomized the maliciousness of the USSR and its Allies and their relentless determination to push beyond the confines stipulated in the WW2 treaties in order to spread Communism throughout Europe and possible into the US. As far as the movie still, it gives us a view of the past, in particular, women’s hairstyles & fashion at that time. It also gives us a bird’s eye view of the city (although I’m not familiar enough with the photo or the view to recognize which city she is in…possibly New York?)

I think we could all add our own 'most influential" picture. JFK's casket pulled by horses comes to mind.. Martin Luther King giving his famous I Have A Dream Speech.. Hitler standing in the rubble of the bunker is a powerful image. Jackie Kennedy standing next to LBJ as he took the oath of office. Her stunned gaze causes me grief. Marilyn Monroe's iconic pose over the grate is one of many of her that tugs at my heart strings. I can see the little girl Norma Jean. 🕊ðŸ¤
