Jolt was out years before Josta and would be considered the first real energy drink. It’s slogan was ‘All the sugar, twice the caffeine’. It was marketed to younger people to combat fatigue. It’s also still around but hard to find.

I can’t believe nobody’s talking about Jolly Rancher soda. That stuff was so addicting and tasty!!! I used to buy it at Bottom Dollar all the time. Wish I could get my hands on it nowadays.

So many good memories with all these different drinks. I miss Orbitz!! I remember Fruitopia in the soda machines in school. There was another drink at the time too that was in vending machines at school that was called like Tropical Gold or maybe it was Citrus Gold? It pretty much tasted like tangerine, orange and pineapple. I think it was meant to be a non-carbonated option instead of soda, about like a Sunny D but it was still sugary as all hell!!

Josta was my favorite soda. Them discontinuing it was one of the reasons I stopped drinking soda all together. The flavor was just so unique. I didn't even know it was an energy drink until after I couldn't buy it anymore.

I actually like the 2020s version of Coca Cola "Black" I've found in Lucky Supermarkets, but later in life I rarely drink soda with too much sugar in it! They for a little while had a diet version but I haven't seen it lately! Ones I always enjoyed were Fanta Red Cream Soda and also Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash (which may still be around during the holidays, but again - sugar!)

I remember „Crystal Pepsi“. They sold it here in Germany around 1994. It was in a clear (plastic) can. The taste was ok but your eyes saw something clear (7Up) and your taste buds were telling you „Cola“…this was quite irritating…😅

@@triangleofdeath6246 I guess it is rather eyes over matter. I saw an experiment with several people tasting gummy bears (H@ribo). Orange color = orange taste, yellow = citrus, white = pineapple, red = strawberry, green = apple. Afterwards they made a blind tasting (same people blindfolded). 80% of the participants were wrong in guessing what the taste was because they could not see the color of the bears…🤷🏻♂️

In Southern California it’s very common to find cactus 🌵 cooler. You can find it in almost every store, gas station, or supermarket. Never would have thought that it’s hard to find in other part of USA.

I love going down memory lane I remember almost all of these drinks and it's been incredible. This isn't a soda drink but I wonder if anyone's ever heard of coconut yoohoo it was the only yoohoo with a black label on it and I appear to be the only person in the world who's tried this back in the day early 90s

Crystal Pepsi was awesome. If it was still around it would be the main soda I drink. Coca-Cola Black is one of the worst things I’ve ever tried. It tasted like a little bit of coke mixed with a lot of burnt coffee.

The memories of that soft drink will never die. Every time it comes back in stores I literally buy a ton of bottles and when they had 12 pack cans for a limited time they sold out so fast and never saw it again. Bring it back again please.

2019 was the the end. Pepsi have stated it will not make a return in the future. The only reason it made the 2019 return was because of petitioning from a popular KZfaq creator. They had 0 intentions of bringing it back and even with the limited time release it still fails to be as popular as other flavors and only has a small cult following in comparison basically.

My favorite soda I wish was back is Mountain Dew Pitch Black (original & II). There used to be a Safewau store brand Red Licorice soda I really liked a lot. I've seen Cactus Cooler on the shelves here in Ca.

Pitch Black was incredible. It won over Baja Blast to be a permanent flavor. They took it from us due to low sales, and I'll never forgive them for it.

@@sCarrieCemetery The red licorice soda used a red cream flavor as its base with a tinge of strawberry. The MD Pitch Black tasted like a grape Jolly Rancher, with the 2nd version being more tart.

@@mattmcsherry761 I have some Pitch Black II in 2-liter bottles in my garage. The last time I checked I could feel that the CO2 had leaked though the plastic. If they're still where I put them, I can use whatever is in the bottle as a syrup to be added to club soda. Its just too rare not to try and just throw them away.

I too enjoyed Crystal Pepsi. The only reason any cola is dark is because they add caramel color. Same with cream soda. I rather not drink the added color. Canada Dry makes their cream soda clear. It's my go to.

If you like full flavored clear sodas try White Birch Beer. It's a New England thing. For an extra kick make sure you throw in a slice of lemon. Once you get to New Jersey and Pennsylvania the Birch beer gets coloring.:)

I liked Coca Cola black. The first time I tried it I was hanging out with my friend Kris. She started to try it and said she couldn't get past the smell. I really liked it though. I wish it would be brought back. The new Coke/coffee mix ain't the same.

Cactus Cooler came to my native Arizona in the mid 1960s and was quite popular for a number of years. The logo then was completely different. The crystal Pepsi gave me awful heartburn and thus I never had any more again after that first try.

8:32 Where in Canada, both Pepsi Fire and Ice were available (or maybe it was of a different brand/sub-brand). The Fire version was slightly spicy and the Ice version had menthol.

It’s simple: but coke with lime. They still have Diet Coke with lime but not regular. Stuff was awesome. I can get vanilla / orange / cream coke but not lime anymore 😭😭

I live in Northern CA, and there is a Mexican grocery store near me that carries Cactus Cooler. Only place I’ve ever seen it.

@@Eljefe1089 For sure, green fruitopia, sprite remix tropical or berry, vanilla coke, and those wierd flavores snapple had for a while like Earth, Rain, Sun, Fire... Rain was sooooooo good. I can't forget about BAWLS energy drink, how my heart still beats after all those Bawls energy drinks is beyond me.

The Walmart's near me all still carry Coke Blak. I've never tried it but have thought about it. I loved Crystal Pepsi when it came out. My best friend and I at the time were obsessed with it. When it was re-released I had to get some. I don't know if they changed the recipe a little or if it was memory not living up to reality, but it wasn't as good as I remembered. Still good but not the blow your mind good I remember it being. Of course I don't think anything quite lives up to the memory of things that blew your mind when you were pre-tean or teenage. What I really miss is all the flavors of Clearly Canadian. I grew up with that stuff and was so sad when I stopped seeing that brand anymore.

Josta wasn't the first, Jolt cola was, went to market in 1985 double the sugar and double the caffeine. schools in the 80s banned it LOL

The ironic thing is that Baja Blast actually did get a zero calorie/diet version. (I think it also suffered the same thing, but the regular version returns every once in a while)

I'm so sad you forgot mountain dew MDX........the mountain dew energy soda which was more potent than normal....I pulled so many all nights with that stuff. And my neighborhood in Brooklyn has been selling crystal pepsi for the last 10 years

Blueberry 🫐 New York Seltzer. The original. I heard there was a remake, but it wasn’t the same. I loved this drink. Mango cherry 🍒 drink was an okay drink @ Taco 🌮 Bell, for a Taco Bell drink. Now, they are all too sweet.

Wow I didn't know cactus cooler was rare outside San Diego. You can find it everywhere, well maybe not at fast food or restaurants but I see it at all convenience and grocery stores
