Yeah, y'all sure saw at least one of these already. Anyways, watch as I, Xiristatos, count down my personal favorite breakdowns in the series depending on satisfaction, entertainment, awesomeness, over-the-top-ness and just how big of an impact they left on me.
And obviously, Your Mileage May Vary™
The Ace Attorney franchise belongs to Capcom (y'know, just in case...)

So it's been years since this video was made, and I haven't even remotely considered that not everyone watching would see exactly what I'm seeing in these breakdowns, and that just maybe an explanation for these entries would have been beneficial from the very beginning. And credit to commenter Dungeon Master for having brought this to my attention (how do I mention people by username in single comments, is that even possible?), because I certainly was too dense to notice it myself. But yeah, I'm gonna write it all down in this very comment. Also, the entries will basically be given away right below, so... spoilers for this countdown I guess (non-spoilered countdowns tend to be better, even something as bland and forgettable as this) almost four whole years later (I'm totally not utterly insane, I know): Number 15: It may not be much, but I always love to imagine this as Daryan trying to play Fruit Ninja with his hair while the background music goes mad, only for Klavier to take us home right afterwards. It was enough for me to at least put it in this list. Number 14: It goes by a bit quickly, but I always have a hearty laugh at this display. Nothing like random shit dropping on Knightley's head even though he hadn't even thrown them in the first place. Number 13: After one of the longest cases in the series, it only makes sense to end it all with finger pointing so intense that four armed guards trip all over themselves, hence why I added that here. And even more hilarious is a corrupt queen completely and utterly humiliating herself infront of everyone. However, I didn't put it any higher than this because admittedly the effect was somewhat ruined by the usage of a very unfitting sound effect the moment it zooms in on Ga'ran having completely dazed off. Number 12: It also goes by a bit quickly than I'd like, but it's still endlessly hilarious seeing the circus animals do a complete 180° on their own master after the latter spent the majority of the case taunting you all over the place (also hilariously) Number 11: Similarly to 13, it's nothing short of satisfying to see a previously imposing (if utterly ridiculous) character make a complete and utter fool of themselves infront of everyone else. But I love this one a lot more just for the ending part alone. Seeing the entire chalkboard along with Aristotle fall over and drop flat to the ground like this after you had been taunted by him for quite a while is just next level. Number 10: I think many of us can agree that this one is just legendary... althought now that I think about it, I actually prefer the option of giving Matt the "Guilty" verdict. Still, no matter which option, it's very much cathartic seeing this once blatantly hilariously evil dude have every single thing backfire on him, only to give himself even more scars than he already had. But it is only in this spot because I thought that Shelly de Killer still being at large after everything slightly lowers that catharsis, but very slightly. Number 9: Admittedly an odd choice, but this one just never fails to crack me up. It's like if "Handsome Squidward" and the Perfume Department scene from "Shanghaied" were combined in one Ace Attorney breakdown, and just for that alone I love it. Number 8: I couldn't not put this on here, it's exactly the kind of over-the-top breakdown I love to see "performed" by an equally hilarious politician literally pronounced "politician". And it's a great showcase of just how much more cinematic and creative these breakdowns have become over the years. Number 7: This is the one breakdown where some context to why I love it this much is definitely warranted (and perhaps should have been almost four years ago... lol): It may not be much on its own, but after having seen this guy actively impersonating Phoenix himself just to get someone innocent convicted, followed by one annoyingly convoluted case that doesn't seem to stop, and then after all of this having him laughably fall for an awesome bait courtesy of Phoenix, seeing Furio just lose his shit like this to the point that all of the lights break down... it made me genuinely forgive the entire case in the end. Number 6: I could never forget about this breakdown even if I actively tried to. It may go by a lot quicker than the other entries, but when someone like Damon had spent the entire case being so jovial yet terrifying from beginning to end, seeing his habit of clapping and laughing go straight over the top like this after he's been found out for good feels like a rare combination of cathartic, hilarious and disturbing at the same time. Number 5: Now to be completely honest here... I don't think I can ever top this one with any sort of explanation. It simply has to be seen in its entirety... Number 4: This one's nothing short of classic. Manfred had been a terrifyingly effective prosecutor and a worthy opponent from beginning to end, and seeing all of this happen after he essentially dug his own grave by attempting to bring down Edgeworth with the until-then still unsolved DL-6 case, and all of that by someone still new to this job makes this breakdown especially great to me. Number 3: I may not have liked this particular case that much, but I do still love this breakdown even more than Manfred's for just how brutally and intensely Kristoph loses it out of nowhere. Someone so brilliantly deceitful and chill suddenly going utterly mad to the point he seemingly becomes a Super Saiyan right then and there only to give everyone a completely deranged look, ending with him laughing madly even after this case is over in one of the most ominous ending narrations (which I for some reason didn't add here because I'm dumb like that) more than deserves to be this high up on my list. Number 2: This one is what I think really makes for a perfect "final boss breakdown" even compared to all the previous ones. It never fails to be a ominous yet cathartic ending to such an intense double-case, especially with the continuous mask changing as the Phantom, who up to this point had been a genuinely intimidating figure, completely loses it. It brings to mind these "Shapeshifting Malfunction" defeats like Shang Tsung from MK1 or Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls, always been one of my favorite "villain defeat types", and I equally love it here. Number 1: He may not have been a final boss, but Roger's breakdown here just does everything beautifully in my book: The cinematics, Roger's arrogance completely fading away, the brilliant and creative showcase of how Roger really only "destroyed himself" in the end with his scheme, all of this happening after one long case with him having had the upper hand from beginning to end and just having been an awesome antagonist in general. The breakdown's ending however is what in particular makes it for me; the stage lights continually glaring at Roger as an equally great representation of how far he's fallen, ending with him just dropping to his knees. All of this is why this one is still my favorite breakdown in the entire series... ...that is of course if Mael Stronghart's breakdown from Great Ace Attorney 2 doesn't become that, which I feel like it is, but I made this video before I even saw anything about these games. So there's that, I guess.

Thanks for this, I appreciate how much effort you put into this. It's a shame that a lot of people probably wont see this, because I think it adds a lot. I didn't even think about those Spongebob episodes when I saw L'Belle's breakdown. It also explains why there were no breakdown from DGS 1 or 2. You didn't know anything about those games, so of course you didn't consider them. If I were making the list, I'd include Menimemo and Crowgrey's breakdowns.

@@dungeonmaster3464 At the very least I made sure to pin the comment and pointed out that those are the explanations, so I suppose anyone who'd want to know why and was scrolling down to the comment section to begin with might see this. Again, I could and should have just done that from the very beginning and added these reasons right in the video itself, but alas... that's now the next best thing I have to do.

Neat But, about "Shelly the killer still at large": We never knew who the phantom was taking orders from (Likely very powerful people). Presumably they didn't face any comeuppance either.
@Xiristatos
@Xiristatos 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-unos111 Oh yeah, how could I forget about that? Good point. I guess maybe it's because while it was very clear who Matt Engarde paid for, the Phantom's organization seemed more implied and sort of "backstory-ish" for me to be particularly "bothered" by that fact. It still genuinely felt like you really directly took down someone you can consider similar to Shelly de Killer (being gifted professionals at their work). But again, you make a good point, I just didn't notice it at all.

Easily my favorite is Retinz's. Especially with the touches of each of the troupe masks from the three potential heirs going up in flames, then the master's and finally his own thinking it was Trucy's the true last heir He's totally wrong too and he doesn't know it. The blue one, belonging to the lady who's later become a singer (who's name I know I just can't spell right) is STILL alive. The others he rightly assumes are dead by murder except her. She left the troupe and is kind of sorta in hiding And then the spotlights shine on him blinding him with the knowledge that he's only done this to himself. He's the sole reason he's in a terrible spot right now.

Who else wouldn't like a breakdown which just shows one of our biggest childhood dreams becoming true? No I don't mean any disrespect towards teachers but I mean that almost every school has that one A-hole of a teacher who deserves getting some sense knocked into their head, Aristotle was just that but on a way different level, so of course many kids daydream of throwing chalks on that teacher and scold em while the excuse of a teacher fails to provide a 'correct' answer themselves.

I suppose it makes sense that most of the "Final Boss" breakdowns are on the list. In fact I think the only ones missing are Dalia's, AA Investigation 1's villain, and the Great Ace Attorney's. Given, I guess that means only 6/10 are on the list. I sort of wish you put in explanations for why you put certain entries on the list and what put entries above each other. I get that it's your list and your opinions, but you also mentioned in the description that part of your rating is in how big an impact they had on you. I don't know what impact the cases had on you, and a big part of the breakdown is the case leading up to it. Yeah, the breakdowns are cool, but looking at them out of context takes them out of the case. So part of what makes them awesome is lost in translation.

Yeah that's a very good point, I could have at least put a few lines for those entries, but I must have taken for granted a bit too much that watchers would see what I'm seeing in these. Now I could still write down these explanations in the description, but I'm not exactly sure how many people will stop to look up a video's description in the middle of watching a video. Still, I could do that or write a pinned comment right here, which seems like the better idea. Oh, and my apologies for having taken this long to actually respond, I could have sworn I initially wanted to, but then time passed... for a few seconds and then I forgot completely. Happens a lot to me, and it's quite stupid.
@dungeonmaster3464

@@Xiristatos No worries, other youtubers might've just ignored new comments on older videos. The fact that you put this much thought into it is rewarding. And some of the more comical ones like Don Tigre's and Knightley's are glorious just by virtue of being so laughably insane. But others like the Phantom's and Ga'ran's are very story driven. You can enjoy how crazy they are, but part of what makes them satisfying was the buildup leading up to them. They're hilarious because of how appropriate they are, and not everyone will feel the same impact. For example, I'm not a big fan of Engarde's breakdown. I love the buildup leading up to it, but I mainly got my satisfaction from the "shit my pants in terror" look on his face before his breakdown. Him screaming as he gouges his gorgeous face was just the cherry on top. You probably feel different about it though.
@Xiristatos
@Xiristatos 2 жыл бұрын
@@dungeonmaster3464 Yeah I usually don't like just ignoring comments when they're something I could definitely respond/answer to. Sure not everyone has the time to do exactly that, and it does depend on how many comments there are, but in my (very bland and unremarkable) case in particular I surely can clear things up. Depends on the individual of course. Oh, and I just now made that comment with all my explanations to clear those up after... almost four whole years of me not even having considered it. Pinned it right up there.

I really don't like any of spirit of justice breakdowns. Part of it comes from me thinking the 3d era villains are too obvious and over the top, but for me the more concise breakdowns are the most powerful, like kristophs and gants. Of course, dual destines final villain breakdown is pretty good though.

finally someone who puts Kristoph in the top three. I LOVED Kristophs breakdown and it might be because he's the only one I like in the whole game and the way we beat him and get the breakdown is actually satisfying (IMO). The the transition from "right" to "wright" just does something for me that makes it also in my top three (2).

@Xiristatos
@Xiristatos 11 ай бұрын
Yeah if I recall correctly, it's because L'Belle here colored his hair blonde with a dye that's described as being easily water-soluble, and he's always had gray hair like this. Makes this breakdown kinda even funnier tbh.

Yeah I honestly regret ever having added that there. "Hawhaw sudden loud noise super funny!" was my logic apparently, but no it's definitely not super funny. I'm so sorry for that and that I didn't cut it out earlier when I clearly could have, but thanks for reminding me to do that now. The "Intro" part (also the pointless ending part) should be gone in a few hours.

Breakdowns from Duel Destinies and on are not so good because they are too long and strange, plus lack the craziness and unique points compared to those from the trilogy.

True, the graphical change in general can be an acquired taste for a fair amount of people, though I myself didn't feel any strong difference between the two "eras". Many of the "3D" breakdowns just happened to greatly hit the mark for me.

Nah, Trilogy ones are classic. Newer ones are still creative and hilarious. I think all of the breakdowns are great apart from 1 (yes only 1 lol from by far the worst case of the franchise). If I was to make a top 10-15, Dahlia, Kristoph, Pierce, Manfred and Retinz would be the 5. Engarde, Tigre, Gant, Means and Phantom or Atishon would fill out 10. Godot, Payne, Meele, Ga'ran and Simon makes 15 total I guess
