@@QuantumTelephone Yeah, as much as I like the GD's visual design, it's very boring to fight and the rest of the depths is 80% rats. I usually skip the area unless it has something I want, which isn't often because the depths doesn't have much good loot.

Amygdala also comes from the word ''amygdalo'' which quite literally means almond in greek. Also happy to see someone recognising Godrick for what an awesome boss design/fight he is. I think that he was one of the best bosses, especially when taking into account the environmental storytelling (such as Godfrey's portrait) as you mentioned leading up to him. His entire castle is an exposure to who he is as a person and that was amazing.

Great list, but personally I would have definitely added orphan of kos. While I do love the grotesque horror of some of the other bosses, to me nothing beats a newborn baby screaming, jumping all over the place and smashing you with the placenta. Also divine dragon is aesthetically my favorite fight in the whole series.

Yeah, I was actually plannin on doin a bunch of videos where I ranked the enemies worst to best from each game, startin from Demon's Souls then working up to Elden Ring, but I'm likely gonna take a wee break from the ranking type vids for now and focus more on retrospective type stuff. I'll defo still put out videos like these from time to time though.

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella was a terrific early boss fight. Scary when you notice his guts rotting away up close.

i always think Fromsoftware's graphic designers, modelers and animators are two steps ahead of the gameplay designers. like gaping dragon is a conceptual marvel but it's kinda lame to fight against

Amazing content. Your videos are carrying me through the writing of my thesis, so much obliged! About the Headless Bloodletting Beast, I think that the parasite is basically a growed version of the vermin that Valtr and the League are hunting and you have to crush to ranking up, but yeah, there isn't direct reference to that.

Missed a great opportunity to talk about demon of song for Ds2. You hear the singing throughout the entire shrine, you get dialogue from nito’s followers who state nito taught them to sing, and you get one of the most disturbing designs in fromsoft games. Something about frog legs with human arms and a skull bulging out of it really gets under my skin. It’s a fairly easy boss but it’s definitely worth mentioning 🎉as I think it’s ds2’s best monster design with the rotten being a second place contender.

My personal favorite has to be Vicar Amelia. That beast design is so unique that even stands out in Bloodborne. The mix of different animal and human elements is chilling, alongside with her screams that retain just that little bit of humanity. Her still retaining some humanity by clinging onto the locket and being able to heal adds so much character. And holy hell that transformation cutscene is probably the most horrifying one in any of the fromsoft games.

How can you not get chills hearing Ludwig’s story and music? It’s like the whole game builds up to this. Ludwig’s story is like one you’d reserve for the main character, except he’s not even the main villain, just a boss the hunter has to defeat to move into the research hall. I feel like Elden Ring tried to emulate this with Radahn, and he was cool for sure, but they couldn’t recapture that same magic they had in Ludwig. Bloodborne’s lore really was perfection, despite how vague it is at times. If they were ever to make a second game, I feel like focusing on the Old Hunters would be so cool.

As someone who really likes Ludwig and bloodborne, it’s insanely hard to follow lore on a first playthrough. Therefore the enjoyment of bosses is purely for the fight itself, and Ludwig’s fight is not quite as superb as some make it out to be

The more I hear the theory that Falling Star Beasts become Astels the less true it rings. It seems more likely that the Falling Star Beasts are one type of cosmic species with Astels being another and they simply share physical traits due to being from the same environment. Although FromSoft might not habe even thought it through to that extent.

I only recently fought Inner Genichiro and he is insanely difficult lol. Honestly took me about 3 hours of attempts to win the fight but it was amazing fun learning his moveset.

The Inner fights were added through the free boss rush DLC many months after the game came out and I don't think they even mentioned there WAS any new fights, I didn't even know they existed until I recently saw another Souls boss video that mentioned them. Combined with the fact that Sekiro doesn't have the build variety of other FromSoft games (and thus people not revisiting it as often) I suspect a lot of people don't know the Inner fights even exist.

Orphan is one of the few bosses that actually creeped me out while I was fighting him, but his design is pretty simple compared to the other beasts in this video. I can see why he left Orphan off the list. Ludwig I agree could’ve easily been #1. His design is flawless and the most disgusting thing imaginable.
