I agree with the list. As a field geologist, I found pocketwatches were a great way to keep things from getting torn up. Got into some mechanical vintage ones too, that are still amazing. Part of that was a prepping thing (EMP). Also, what he said about planners is spot on, they've made a bit of a comeback the past few years. People still find writing works in a different part of your brain.

True statement. The knowledge that I have a fully stocked get home bag (mystery ranch scree 32) with 3 days of gear and water filtration, shelter and bug dope for Florida swamp life. I don’t do hiking boots. I wear altra lone peak 6 hiking shoes, my ifak fully stocked and my Fanny pack With dc4, sak ranger, leatherman, lighter, and meds. Benadryl pills and cream. You know all the stuff you listed and then some. Great list man.

True story-- there was a guy who saved a lot of lives on 9/11 because he was able to lead people down many, many pitch black stairwells with his Timex Indiglo watch. The lesson I took from that was: how much better off would all those people have been if that guy had decided to "EDC" a decent "tactical" pocket light? Be THAT guy, but be THAT guy with an actual light instead of a lit watch

Just got my new watch a week ago. I splurged and got a Hamilton field automatic. The durability of the sapphire crystal was super impressive so I committed to that buy once cry once and forever be done. I am super happy with it. This is a video I keep coming back to as I slowly work my way through the list as budget allows. And I am finding each one does improve my life.

Glad to see you growing man thats awesome, and i like the new intro. You ability to feel relatable goes along way and aside from your content is what drew me to your channel, and im sure that's what other people are feeling as well. Everything was spot on in the video and alot of the items are things that used to be common but so many people have gotten away from over the years. Always looking forward to the next video!

Good shoes and proper insoles really help keeping my back and knee issues in check. The sun hoodies are a game changer. Notebooks are my go to at the farm. I have books for my animals, gardens, preservation recipes. Everything is written down. SHTF for one but it’s easy to pull out the specific binder for whatever I’m doing and have all the information from years past right there.

I don't use my phone for any social media crap. It's also almost always on mute unless I want to take calls. Just because I have a phone on me doesn't give you a right to reach me any time YOU want. It's a tool. If you can't be disciplined on how you use a tool, then you are a tool. I haven't thought about a mechanical watch in quite a while, but I won't wear one on my wrist anymore. That said, need to pick some up as backups. Beyond that, a knife, light, and fire source are always must haves.

Something for you to consider: For a long time now kids have not been taught how to write cursive in schools. There are 26-29-year-old people who were not taught how to write! Kids rarely use pens and rarely use notebooks. The world has changed and I will agree, not necessarily for the better. We have to come to grips with these changes to help young people flourish.

I pride myself in being able to shave with my knives. It’s a dying skill. I disagree on the planner I don’t forget shit and I feel the day I stop remembering stuff the same thing that happened with phone numbers will happen with everything else. 20 years ago I knew every phone number I needed then phones made that easy so I only know my wife’s phone number now. Keep your mind sharp by using it

I’m almost there, i don’t have a watch, planner, notebook or sunglasses lol. I was just talking about wanting to get a watch the other day,i used to wear a watch and then started working in a machine shop and just stopped. I just got my first nice knife and pair of boots this year,i got a spyderco PM3 lightweight and for boots i got a pair of keens. I wear my keens just about everywhere and my spyderco never leaves my pocket. I get alot of my nice stuff second hand or wait for big sales and end up saving a ton of money. You can get great deals buying stuff off eBay,tac swap, market place or where ever else just make sure to pay attention to peoples feedback!

Depending on your budget you can go as cheap as a casio duro for like 40 bucks, not books look at fieldnotes.com or story supply.if you don't need a big planner the standard memorandum from word or pocket calendar from ritein the rain. I live my larger planner and never thought I would want one that big but I use it to write videos I can't live without mine. Look on Midway USA for clearance Oakleys

Unless you are damn good at assessing and reassessing your patient, ditch the chest seals. An open chest wound is a simple pneumothorax. If your seal occluded and you didn’t know, a tension pneumothorax occurs killing you quickly! This has been preached to my from trauma surgeons and even by Col Stacy Shacklford. Who was recently over the joint trauma command for the military. Just a thought. Love the list! I have all but the planner and notebook. I use my phone for all of that.

In an end of world I would agree with close access medical care it's not really that big an issue. Though I agree you have to constant monitor for Indicators and Contraindicators. I'm sketchy about most trauma surgeons and the like. They view the world from a sterile clean place and not from an on the ground perspective. I have a trauma surgeon argue with me one time that if you leave a TQ on for over 30 minutes it will make them lose the limb. Again viewing the world from the sterile operating room view vs what we learned from 20 years of constant combat trauma injuries
