I feel Steven Yeun deserves a lot of credit for his portrayal of Glenn, he was supposed to be that not-so-important side character that got killed off halfway, but he made Glenn so endearing in the show that by the time Glenn was supposed to die, nobody around me felt or saw it coming except for those who had knowledge of the comics' story and were keeping mum. Everyone was so shocked at the atrocity and I even felt angry that the writers would do that to one of the core members haha. From then on, the show started to die out for me and I eventually stopped watching altogether. Later on they even killed off Carl. Jesus

Game of Thrones didn’t have just one singular point where it went off the rails: Dany torching King’s Landing, Bran being King, the Long Night ending after like 2 hours, forced Winterfell drama in season 7, killing Barristan Selmy in season 5, Dorne. It really got to a point where the writers had no idea what to do when they ran out of source material. Though they could have stretched season 5 into at least 2 seasons and it would have made more sense.

imo the turning point is last episode of seaosn 4, where pretty much every best plotline just dissolves(though to be fair they all mhad to) I think arya splitting up with the hound, tywin dying, tyrion leaving kingslanding, everything that happens at the wall just automatically means the show gets worse. That being said, its fair to argue that all this didnt mean that the show had to get worse, it just means that it has to if you write lazily, which is what happened. season 5 is still pretty good still, season 6 is like allright, season 7 is meh and season 8 is really bad

I liked that show for the first season or 2 then it just got ridiculous. Unless Miami has some epidemic of serial killers, it was ridiculous how Dexter would get his hands on and kill the main serial killer/antagonist focused on for that season, then next season a new killer just happened to appear in Miami, racking up victims😂 How convenient for Dexter Morgan, right? Serial killers are not *that* common, thankfully. Especially killers that are notorious enough and rack up a high enough victim count to earn a moniker, like the "Ice Truck Killer."

The Glen death killed it for a lot of folks that didn't know that it was Glen that was actually supposed to die in that scene. I was a avid follower of the comic book series and had prepared myself for the fact that Glen was going to die there, and in fact he actually had to if they were going to take Maggie on the story arc that they actually did. My problem with how they executed this in the TV show was more that they did that stupid Glen death tease on the trash dumpster. Something that did NOT happen in the comic book, and then they bypassed the Abraham death scene on the railroad tracks in favor of also having him killed in the scene with Negan. It was overkill and just plain stupid. The Saviors story arc in the comics and Negan was kick ass and done so well, but they botched it royally in the tv series. I didn't actually stop watching at that point. In fact I continued to watch to the very end this past season. The Glen and Abraham death scene put the tv show in a awful spiral for years, but once they got past the botched Saviors and Whisperers story arcs they actually finished strong I thought and also did just enough change ups to be able to do these spin offs that I'm looking forward too. I totally understand people that got pissed with the show though, but I'm just one of those guys that is hardcore into The Walking Dead, and not just this show but really the whole zombie horror genre as a whole. I've watch some of the dumbest zombie movies you can think of and enjoyed every one of them. LOL I'm a sick person. I know. 😆

It was because it felt like everyone was abandoning a sinking ship. Carl was killed off and then Rick left and the future of the show was already in question. That was compounded by Maggie leaving at the same time as Rick. The show shifted into having Daryl, Carol, and Michone as it's leads but then shortly after Michone leaves too. The cast was dwindling and they weren't replacing them with anyone worth a damn. Jesus had potential but they killed him off without really even doing anything with him. Their attempts with characters like Ezekiel, Aaron, Rosita, and Gabriel all felt pretty half-hearted. They gave them soap-opera-y shit to do, no real memorable moments. And to make things worse they started pulling characters like Morgan and Dwight to Fear the Walking Dead. Thinning an already barebones cast for the sake of creating a "cinematic universe". They sabotaged themselves. The Negan killing Glenn and Abraham thing isn't even a negative imo. It was ballsy. The people who stopped watching a show called "The Walking Dead" over that are fucking morons. Their misguided attempts to create an expanded universe and milk the shit out of the franchise is really what hurt them. Maybe they could have raised Andrew Lincoln's pay if their budget wasn't split between the main show and Fear. And presumably World Beyond was in its early stages of development back then too.

HIMYM's ending with the mother dying wasn't the bad part. It made sense storywise that she died. What ruined the ending completely was him and Robin getting back together after spending so much ime showing how Barney could change. They should have ended it with Barney and Robin being happy (maybe adopting a child so that Barney could finally be the dad he never had) and with Ted going back to the bar for one more drink with the group. But then Barney does the best thing for him, he plays "Have you met Ted?" with him one last time and Ted goes "And kids, I'm about to tell you how I met your Step-Mother". The Walking Dead cliffhanger wasn't what jumped the shark. It was the over-the-top, graphically brutal way that they murdered one of the most beloved characters on the show. That turned a LOT of people off the show, including me. I could never get into it after that. I still don't know what the hell they were thinking with that scene. It was such a poor choice.

You all do understand it's like one of the most talked about moments in the comic book which the show was based on. In fact I personally thought it was the following season that did it, so many problems with 7. That is where the tone was changed. The glen and negan scene is one of the best in the series along with the 6 finale and 7 intro episode being some of the most intense the show has to offer. The very fact that they physically made people cry and hate the show with 2 episodes tells me that they did their job lol idk walking dead show fans get on my nerves with how they went from acting like it was an undeniable masterpiece and then after Glenn they said it was trash lol dam can you imagine if they killed Darryl? Mad Danny was pretty well established, both in earlier seasons and more prominently when Tyrion Lannister started to interact with her. He was the rock keeping her from going over the edge, and she finally ignored his advice. King Bran definitely didn't bother me, but the ending was definitely rushed and wish that was explored more. The biggest issue I had with the ending was Sansa asking for the North and it being granted. I see why they did it, but Sansa literally did nothing correct the entire show. When Arya called her the smartest person she knew, I felt like that was out of no where. And even more lost once they seemed to think she would be a good leader for the North or had the right to demand their freedom while previous generations pledged loyalty to the throne. They tried to say she learned her 'smarts' from Little Finger and Cersei Lannister - would someone really want someone that was brought up by those 2 as a leader? Also, the only 'smart' thing she did was turn on Little Finger. At no other point did she seem to have a legitimately good idea (she gave ideas, but were always shot down by Jon Snow - and he was making the right call).

For me, the one show that was ruined by a singular moment was when they killed off James Evans Sr in Good Times. From there the show really lost its way by handing itself over to the buffoonery of "Kid Dyno-mite" JJ Evans. The fact that the mother disappeared for a whole season to move to Arizona with her new dying husband because the actor Esther Rolle wanted off says a lot. And the show had been written specifically as a spinoff for her character from Maude! Leaving your own show speaks volumes.

1- I agree w what Amy said. The show was merely following the general concept of any Sherlock show/movie - wherein, following the “ultimate” battle w Moriarty, Sherlock leaps off a building (jumps into the Reichanbach Falls w Moriarty) in order to stop his arch rival. To do something different would basically be spitting in ACDs face. 2- However ppl feel about seasons 3 and four are their own personal opinions. For instance, I felt season three was one of their best seasons, and The Sign of Three one of the funniest episodes they executed, and yet also one of the saddest as well. Also, while I originally was NOT a fan of season four, having rewatched the episodes a number of times, I realize now that while I (personally) preferred the style of the earlier seasons, there was a lot of thought put into each episode of s4, and they were actually well acted. And if for no other reason, I would enjoy s4 merely for Moriarty’s entrance in that last episode. (He will always be my second fav character, no matter how much I like the back and forth bet the Holmes brothers or the tension bet Sherlock and his little doctor.)

Exactly! As soon as they excluded major plot points from the show, that should have been in there from the books, they went downhill. There was nothing wrong with bringing to life what was written already, and it worked for 5 and a half seasons. Not a single major CGI battle was shown on screen for 5 seasons, then it almost did nothing but that and all was lost. They killed character progression, swayed too far from the books, and hurried the ending.

With "How I Met Your Mother", I remember thinking back in Season 2 that maybe the mother is dead and Ted is actually married to Robin as he's telling the story. I feel like the "mother dying" and the other ones like "the cork" that killed the shows in the last couple episodes don't really count. I consider a disappointing or poor ending to be not one that killed tv shows but something different entirely. In order for it to count I believe the show must continue after or been planned to continue afterwards. Chloes in the FOP and Michael leaving are prime examples as you can pinpoint an exact moment when the show was ruined and no longer had the same quality that made you love the show.

Yes, as a long time FoLC (Fan of Lois & Clark) I can confirm that the horrible wedding between Clark and the clone-Lois set off a 5-episode arc that took them pretty much all of season 3 to overcome. The fact that it took Clark two episodes (if I remember correctly -- it's been a long time since I've subjected myself to it) to figure out that it wasn't Lois that he married was eye-rollingly bad. (But we did get to hear Teri Hatcher sing -- wow!) And there was a scene where Clark and Lex Luthor commiserated with each other over how much they BOTH loved Lois. ("When she's sad... when she cries..." "You want to die." "Yeah.") Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. Having an emotional bro conversation. Yeah, right. King Bran was hardly the moment that killed Game of Thrones. While it arguably started an inevitable decline prior to season 8 (as far back as season 5 or 6), I think the anticlimactic death of the Night King at the end of The Long Night (S8:E03) at the hands of Arya Stark is pretty much the moment things had officially lost their way, with large swaths of John Snow's story (and thus much of GoT) rendered useless and wasted. The rest was train wreck after train wreck which culminated in King Bran at the literal end of the show.

Nah, it added balance to a group of people who ran into INCREDIBLE amounts of overall good fortune, despite all the deaths they went through.

Kept watching until they killed Carl (Coral) that was the death of the show. Glen was shocking but not as utterly insulting as Carl's "I got bit ladt week"... Carl and Rick were the show. Watched that boy grow up only for him to be treated like an after thought. At least GOT shat the bed in the last season.

Leave Poof alone. The dog was unnecessary, the girl was unnecessary and they got rid of Timmy’s friends and Vickey in the later seasons

When TWD killed off Carl the show went completely downhill for me and I stopped watching. He was the future of the show! He was becoming a little leader just like his dad. They could have got rid of Rick and kept Carl to run things and that would have made more sense. So stupid. I just pretend it didn’t happen lol

I found Glenn's death to be absolutely awful and I stopped watching for many months. Then, I binged-watched up until Carl's death. I was absolutely flabbergasted! I agree, he was the future of the show. I always thought that of the original cast, only Carl and Daryl would be left at the very end of the show. I thought for sure that Carl would be the one to carry on Rick's legacy. But after his death, the show just seemed hopeless and I just couldn't keep watching.

@@deborahblackvideoediting8697 SMH, that sucks, I think for most people there is a point in the show where it just feels hopeless and thats when people start to get away from the show. I started to feel that way when the little girl killed her sister then, Carol killed her. I left on a high note tho, right after they killed The Termites

The O.C didn't "end" with Marissa shooting Trey, that scene was soooo good, and the acting were just amazing. That scene gives me chills to this day. But the show did end when Marissa dies tho... season 4 feels really off.

“Why do you think I came all this way?” I don’t know Bran. I don’t know what you were doing all last season or during the final one. You’re the only surviving character that was literally skipped for an entire season. No one knows what the point of your character is.

Don’t think it’s Glenn’s death that ended the show. People saying it was ‘too brutal’ to a iconic character doesn’t get the works the walking dead is set in. People aren’t supposed to have plot armour and while it was shocking, the show needed something like that. The thing that ended the show was Ricks departure

One show for me is Sleepy Hollow I love seasons 1 and 2 but when seasons 3 and 4 came out. it was not that good anymore because seasons 3 and 4 got new writers and changing some of the plot and not continuing plot lines that was in the first 2 seasons getting rid of of the character Abbie Mills in seasons 3 and 4 she was kind of in season 3 but not much. and not having and the headless horsemen in season 4 and season 4 taking place in Washington not Sleepy hollow did it for me.😿

Great list, for the most part! But having a list about when shows "Jumped the Shark" without actually including the namesake seems wrong! Happy Days should have been somewhere on the list, IMO!

Game of Thrones building the Daenerys character so well only to have her become just like her father 'in-thoery' was a good twist, but in reality was just criminal. That final season almost made the entire series pointless

I was really into the walking dead, and yes that cliff hanger ending was a horrible decision. You did it earlier in the season with “thank you” (the Glen death fake out) and in my anticipation for the next season at the cliffhanger I rewatched the whole series over again and realized that Glen had almost died like 5 other times. (And for a show who didn’t seem to be afraid of killing off characters they always seemed to care about killing him off) and when they did my gut reaction wasn’t “oh no!?!” It was “Finally!!!” And the abruptness of it made it more cheap than they had made it up to this point. Which is a shame because Negan is my favorite character in the show. The producers went for some cheap low hanging fruit
