I used to like Diego Maradona till he cheated at the 1986 World Cup against England and scored an illegal goal with his fist, which unbelievably was allowed as both the referee and the linesman were either paid or were plain blind.

I would put Puskás much much higher. He was captain of the Mighty Magyars, the Golden Team of Hungary of the 50's, often considered the best team ever. They invented Total Football which influenced the Dutch team of the 70's. He was still playing at 50. He could kick with both feet, though his left foot shot like a cannon.

Messi and then Pele! Not the other way around. No one has ever been able to do what Messi does with a football period! His goal-scoring ability, his dribbling skills, his passing and positional awareness are non-pareil. Best player I've ever seen in person was Tatu, which might be sad to those from Europe or South America, but he was legendary in my city.

I think Maradona is the Best, because his tecnical skills were amazing. His career was very short, but He demostrated what any football player could be ever. Such as the second goal scored to England in México 1986.

Pele was a substitute in his 1st WC. He only played one game in his 2nd WC. Garrincha was obviously the best player in these two WCs. In his 3rd WC, Pele was not the top scorer in the team.

Juan Alberto Schiaffino: impossible not to mention him. In my humble opinion no one is and would be better than Maradona! Than pick Pelé and Messi or viceversa. You should have found a place also for Lev Yashin. And if I have to pick between Maldini, Baresi or Cannavaro probably I would pick Baresi but maybe as a winner of a World Cup and a winner of Ballon d'Or you should pick Cannavaro. Instead of Gerd Muller you should pick Lothar Matthäus. Maybe Ruud Gullit deseves a place. Xavi and Andrés Iniesta deserves a spot too as they were the ones which made Spain great for the first time in history. Which one to take off?
