remember having some versions of the Skydancers, and an Easy Bake Oven as a child. ! But even back then! I know very well of their dangers, so with the skydancers went slow with the pull rope (and not to hold it so close to someone or your face). as for the oven, parents for the cooking/baking part. getting the treat out of it, keeping watch on the minioven while it cooked the treat. Also, lawn darts. Father might still have some, my friend and I have played with them but again knew of the potentials dangers so threw them into the ground. A few sometimes got into a tree trunk when we had the target hanging on the tree.

Way too many of these issues are because parents give their kids things that their kids are not old enough to be playing with. Parents can't just leave kids that aren't smart enough to put crap in their mouths in a room with anything they'll just put in their mouths

I worked at Burger King during that Pokemon promo. The funny thing is, a good portion of these banned/recalled toys have nothing to due to the lack of safety features; it's more the fact that parents are lazy/stupid - either by buying toys that were not age appropriate for their little ones and/or not supervising their children when playing with these toys (seriously - how does a little girl get her hand stuck in an easy bake oven and how does a kid suffocate on a large plastic pokeball when it's way too big to swallow)
@cooperminion825

My personal theory on the pokeball scandal is evil people forcibly holding them over a toddler's mouth and nose until the kid stopped breathing. Then they could get their 15 minutes of fame by telling everyone a sob story about how a toy killed little Junior or Susie

I think little kids who swallowed them should not have had them at all. So the toys should've gone to older kids who know better then that. Instead of pulling them off the shelves. My sister had a Sky Dancer and never got hurt. The little girls who did while watching them spin and fly should've dodged them, or catch the dolls by the leg. I know I did when she and I were little and played with together. Parents who as part of the job, r suppose to protect their kids, thus would look to others at fault. But, realistically, sometimes it's the child to blame. Unless they're very small who don't know better, then there should b labels like "This toy is meant for 8 to over".

I remember my cousin had a Magnetix set. It was a blue plastic briefcase like box with a metal base that was sunken into one of the flat sides so you could use the case as a building platform. They were clearly not intended for children who would be young enough to consider eating the pieces. Shame that they were discontinued because a lot of parents only viewed the age-limit on toys as suggested and not required.

A lot of these recalls seem like they could be avoided if the products just advertised not for children under three. Seems weird to me that a lot of babies were playing with these toys. I guess there's a lot of dumb parents out there that don't take responsibility for their own actions and shouldn't have had kids to begin with. Edit: I feel bad for Buckyballs. I've never heard of them before this but they weren't intended for kids so the parents who gave them to their toddlers are the ones to blame. Idiots shouldn't have kids. I *_really_* hate that I missed out on Buckyballs, but they were kind of expensive considering how many I would want to purchase. I had a toy that was a huge magnet base and hundreds of tiny, thin metal shards that you stick together to make sculptures. It certainly would not be allowed today, but we played with it for hours and I never once thought about eating one of the pieces. I also owned a toy similar to sky dancers that was just a small dowel rod with a propeller piece on the end. You spun it with your hands. I hit myself in the face with it so many times, and it hurt, but I blamed myself for not being careful instead of Mexico for making the simple toy. Also also, I owned Lawn Darts and have a set of decades-old clackers in a box somewhere.

Also my sister had aqua dots, but they had a different name, so IK they were not the recalled ones. I remember having a Sky Dancer for a bit but I could only use it with my dad around (this was before the recall). I feel like he took it away after the recall but I was pretty young so IDK for sure. We also had these launching discs that worked similarly but were soft and round and that didn't get recalled. Still had those after Sky Dancers but had to do those with Dad watching *and* only outside.

The otteroo wasn't recalled it was the knock off versions of it. As a result they did a voluntary stop to improve the product based on where the others failed, and relaunched it. it was also never marketed as a toy, it's a physical therapy aid. otterroo NEVER had a drowning or death. It was knock off companies. We used one with my infant after the suggestion of our physical therapist to help my baby with tongue tie and neck torticolus.

I'm surprised they didn't have the creepy crawly oven on this list. I had one and loved putting the creepy crawly fluid in the molds and watching them solidify into all kinds of bugs. There was the rings and things as well as the incredible edibles. I never got burned even though it got incredibly hot. It even got hotter than my stepsister's easy bake oven. I had sense enough to be careful. I was upset when they recalled them. I couldn't get the fluid or new molds anymore.

I had the a Sky Dancer as a kid and loved it. Never hurt myself with it (always held it away from my face when launching it). Honorable mention: the original Polly Pocket (the teeny tiny ones that came in a compact). I had a few of those growing up, and I loved them. I still have a soft spot for them. I work at a thrift store, and I've "saved" a couple of the older models because we can't legally sell them because of the choking hazard.
