Hereditary is so damn good. What it does as well as movies like theVVitch take a less is more approach. They rely on actual stories, great acting and scripts which in turn do the talking and are more affective than force feeding us with special effect demons. I loved the conjuring, especially that part when Lorraine is in a room, the Christmas song starts playing and the shadow slowly makes its way to the picture of Valak, that part was so freakin good. Unfortunately they made the Nun which destroyed Valaks scare factor as they overused that little sound effect that accompanies the demon and gave it wayyyy too much screen time which in turn obliterated its spookiness.
@NeLeeSawn
@NeLeeSawn Жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more about "Hereditary" and "The Witch", more so on the latter. That movie genuinely sent chills down my spine. "Orphan" is another one with some great acting, an amazing script, and a lot of suspense and twists. I don't know... it's like those demon horror movies are no longer my cup of tea.

Pazuzu was an assyrian protector deity that protected peoples houses and especially pregneant women and small babies against the demon Lamatshu, who sucked the life eccence out of babies in the womb and other evil and nasty things. The reason why Pazuzu looks so scary is because his look was designed to scare Lamatshu.

I would love to see someone tabulate a list of all possession movies involving a little girl in a nightgown (ah, what Linda Blair hath wrought.) Btw, the scariest demonic shot in the Exorcist is that flashing Pazuzu face which I thought you'd show.

Haven't heard about that film in years. Used to watch it as a teenager in the eighties (along with a lot of other classics from that decade)

The coolest thing about demons in catholic/christian religions is the belief that if you know it's name you have power over it. Obviously the literal interpretation of that is silly, but if you look at it through the lens of an allegory, to me that means naming and knowing your inner demons is how you regain power from the chaos inside. Like for me I know I can get a bit grandiose and selfish, and knowing that helps me keep it in check.

German here, Krampus here is generally considered as the assistant of Saint Nikolaus, while good saint Nick gives to the nice children, Krampus punishes the naughty one with beatings or by putting them in his gunnysack and taking them away. Later he also got a legend that said he was a demon with a castle deep in the Black Woods.

The Exorcist was so scary for its time, it had an X rating prior to its release. Imagine what was in the movie prior to release that you haven't seen? Also there was mobs of people protesting the theaters calling it evil. People actually thought Linda Blair was possessed. Lol

After this video, I will never be able to separate Paimon the Demon versus Paimon from Genshin. Also, it's a shame that the only version of Krampus will only know is from the Krampus movie and not the one from the Tarot comics

Wow so many good ones are not on the list which is why you need an honorable mention. My favorites are the 3 from Ghostbusters Gozer, Zuul and Vinz; Hel and Surtur from Thor Ragnarok (I know in the movie she is presented as Odin's daughter but in Norse mythology she's the goddess of the underworld); Beezelbub in Pick of Destiny (I know they call him the devil but in actuality Beezelbub is a lesser demon) and finally Pumpkin head from the movie of the same name.
