My bride had a miscarriage (her/our second) a few days prior and we hadn't told anyone that she was pregnant yet because of the first miscarriage. She and I went to see "Up" with some friends of ours and that beginning was extremely said, no doubt. She and I, particularly her, held it together very well until we got in the car. Cancer treatment she got while in high school apparently made her unable to carry. She got cancer, again, almost 30 years after her first two bouts and, after two years, I lost my bride. That was almost three years ago. The beginning and end to "Up" are pretty much unbearable to watch. I still love you, Donna Lou, and even if I knew then what I know now, I'd still do it all all over again with you.

The "Fallen Rain" sequence from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron never fails to make me cry, no matter how many times I've watched it. One of my favorite things about the movie is they let the music be the voices of the animals instead of going the Disney route and giving them voice actors. And that makes the scene where Rain is dying from a gunshot wound all the more heartbreaking to watch - even more so as Spirit is dragged away by soldiers and she's too weak to even keep her head up for long. THEN you have the whole "Sound The Bugle" sequence 😭😭😭😭

"UP" was my #1 choice as well, but it wasn't her death that upsets me, it was her struggle to climb the hill after her fall that brings back sad memories of my younger brother whose life was cut short due to cancer. Number 3: When this movie came out in '94, I was in the US Navy, stationed at Norfolk. I was second-generation military, and an Army officer I knew from back before I enlisted, was in the area, with a civilian friend of his in tow. I forget what else was playing at Main Gate 10, but we ended up settling on The Lion King. (Which, last I checked, the theater was still there, but the quarter century since apparently hasn't been very kind to it.) Anyway, the scene at Number 3 on this list, is the only time I can remember hearing that old Army officer cry during a movie. ANY movie. Like, ever, before or since. That old Army officer passed away fifteen years ago. I still miss you, Dad.

That scene in How to train your dragon made me sooo freaking mad. Part 2 came along to give Hiccup a mom that left him to take his father that raised him and used toothless to do it!

Everyone cites Bing Bong as the saddest part of Inside Out. But as someone who experienced moving far away at a young age like Riley did, the part where she finally breaks down to her parents just kills me.

Littlefoot's mom dying has to be the saddest thing I've ever seen I mean she literally fights a T Rex twice. Then lives for several hours into the late night and cold rain to stay alive long enough to tell her son everything he needed to know on his journey to the great Valley. Nothing against Mufasa but he got ran over by rush hour wildebeest.

Well, he was also thrown onto the ground on his back from a 15-20ft drop. If that didn't kill him immediately, it probably broke his back and kept him from dodging the rush hour wildebeest. Although, considering he is a lion, you would think he'd have been able to flip himself over. At least, a little bit.

This was a solid list WatchMojo, and I agree with just about everything on the list, especially the top 5. I think you might have overlooked just how emotional the first 10min of the movie Up is. And that is Michael Giacchinos composition of "Married Life". It really sells the emotion. And is a genuinely underrated score overshadowed by so many great scores. In my opinion, if it didn't have the song. The emotion will still be there, but it will not have as huge of an emotional response.
