I work for years for the Warner Bros Studio Stores in the mid to late 90s to the early 2000s in a total of 3 different stores. I started as a part time employee eventually moving up to a store manager. I was then recruited by Disney to come work for them. 6 months later, it was announced that the WBSS chain would close. I had gotten out in time with no knowledge of the closing. I worked at Disney for years and then Toys R Us. I was still working for TRU when they announced the closings, and eventually closed my store. Now all these years later, The Disney Store chain is also closed.

Yes! And The Disney Store as well-I always loved shopping there, just as much as I loved shopping at Toys R Us and K-B Toys! I never went into a Warner Bros. Studio Store-‘cuz there weren’t any in the malls I frequented as a child. Same thing with Tower Records-there were no stores within easy access. I don’t remember actually going into a Blockbuster Video-my family and I, for the most part, bought movies at places like Walmart. But when we did rent a movie, it was usually at a mom-&-pop video rental store in our neighborhood. I never went to Borders-my family and I were-and still are-loyal fans of Barnes & Noble!

I loved Sharper Image stores because they had quality (often very expensive) items found seemingly nowhere else. I remember a chess set under glass where the board was marble, the white pieces were ivory, and I don't remember about the back pieces, but it was all electronic. Type in the move you wanted to make and the pieces moved on their own (keep in ,mind this was the 1980s). It cost $3,000.

I'm barely middle-aged but this video has made me feel a thousand years old! I grew up having shopped at all but two of these locations. I never thought I would feel nostalgic about electronics, home goods, and sporting supply stores. This has brought back vivid memories of a simpler time and the frequent debate I had with myself as to whether I should make a left and go to Best Buy or a right to Circuit City. Poor planning on the property owners' part, putting the stores next to each other. 😆 I still remember my mother's internal debate between Linens and Things and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Omg I loved going to the flagship Warner Bros. Studio Store in NYC on 5th Avenue! I was a teenager when it opened in 1993. I remember in its first few years the store was 5 floors. Then they massively expanded to 11 floors! 😮 The additional upper floors were smaller than the lower levels but it would be an epic journey going through that whole store. I would usually start at the very top and work my way down. It was a mini amusement park in NYC to me. My favorite floor was the gallery floor with the animation cells and figures. I would spend a long time there looking at the many pieces and reading their descriptions. It was fascinating seeing the cells from iconic cartoons and wow-ing at their price tags. They had a 3D theater in there that played a Daffy and Marvin the Martian film short. You would get spritzed with water during some scenes.

As far as the stores I've gone to as a kid or shopped in as an adult, Woolworths, Toys R Us, KB Toys, Foot Locker, Circuit City, CompUSA, Borders, Radio Shack, (I'd buy electronic components from there by the bags), Sam Goody/FYE. I remember Wet Seal from my teen mall rat days, not to mention walking the aisles at Blockbuster on Friday nights looking for that one movie and video game rental. I'm surprised WatchMojo didn't mention FAO Schwartz - it was a HUGEEEEEE toy store in NYC. In fact, it was featured in Big, with Tom Hanks (the piano/Chopsticks scene)

I remember I used to look forward going to Borders whenever I visit Singapore and while it was in Australia. I could spend HOURS in there. Too bad it’s closed now but thank goodness I have other bookstores to go to. I loved going to Toysrus as a child when my dad would allow me and my brother to pick any toy we like for our birthday presents every year. I mostly do online shopping but I still see some pretty good deals there. And yes, Blockbuster, we had an outlet back in Sydney near our apartment but it’s closed now. A shame.

I worked at a Radio Shack in the late 90s. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of money for a 19 year old at the time. Lots of bonuses and such for selling cell phones and Directv dishes.

Most of this list was my childhood! Toys r us, circuit city, blockbuster, payless, KB toys. One store that wasn't on the list is Kmart. I looked forward to Friday nights with my mom n sis for movie nights. Now everything is digital.
