@apollo5261
@apollo5261 Ай бұрын
First 2 are not necessarily true. Don't just say a certain lift targets a certain head. That's not how it works and is generally a sign of poor understanding of biomechanics. What you need to do to concentrate more on the long head that is positioned more laterally, is you need to hold your hands closer together (medially) when curling. This way the vector of force passes parallel to the long head fibers and not so much for the short head, so more work is generally done by the long head. Opposite goes for the short head - position your hands more laterally, since the short head is situated more medially. As a person with years of experience though, I'd say avoid these concepts completely and just focus on different variations of the curl that work for you. Isolating each head in part doesn't really yield more results.

I know you said you prefer to use free weights for arms, but me and my close friend started seeing MASSIVE growth once we started incorporating standing preacher curls into our training.. There's NO way to cheat, and it completely forces ALL of the tension to stay in your biceps. You *can* cheat a preacher curl if you're sitting down, though. My ability to progressively overload my biceps has skyrocketed. Also helps to do them with your palms/fingers open, to take tension off of your forearms in the later parts of the set.

Basically the closer you elbows are to your torso is better for activating the bicep. And the more you squeeze at the top too or in other words flex at the top. And keep the wrist straight don't bend the wrist to lift keep the fist straight basically too. Having the elbows out isn't a bad thing but it ends up working out other muscle groups or parts and for the bicep you want controlled motions and lifting and leverage to pump that bicep nice and hard and focus only on the bicep. Sure the entire arm gets a workout here and there but you're trying to focus on the bicep. Force that stubborn muscle to pump. To grow it or even to slim it down either way focus on it like it. In time you will increase flexibility strength and functionality of the arm muscles etc. The way the man in this video is showing it is great and fantastic and is good for the biceps.

Bigger biceps happens from the overload but letting the weights down and tension off between reps isn’t optimal for pump. Keep those reps half way down still at a 45 and you’ll notice your bicep stays engaged the whole time and gets way more exhausted. It’s like staying in the tension is the best thing on every exercise. Full rom isn’t needed. Sometimes I keep one dumbell at the top between isolation and you can also really feel that a lot more

Will doing one exercise to target the long head of the bicep (db incline curls) and none to target the short head (spider or preacher curls) make your biceps have an imbalance or does it not matter?
