These videos are really great tips and reminders, Coach Zac. It's not an easy position to learn, and even harder to master. Thank you for these series of videos, I'm all pumped up to play tonight!

there is always a nice option to start skating with the puck towards the center, but if there are no good options to continue you can turn back and do a re-group, using a pass to the other D and gain some time for Fs to come back. Thats a nice way to control the puck and start dictating your teams preferred pace of the game.

In the first tip he says take a look at your options winger on the boards or centre man in front great tip good idea but keep in mind it is very dangerous to throw the puck in front of your goalie because you may not see and or your centre may not see another player sneaking up behind and taking the puck away and being open for the shot on net directly in front of your goalie with hardly any protection from your team so keep that in mind but from everything else I 100% agree with

I'd like to see an analysis of how the forwards should support the D as they attempt to break the puck out of the D zone with a heavy forecheck pressuring them into bad decisions. Im too old to play anymore but Im a lifelong student and I appreciate quality instruction. Thanks.

Polago Xaltier, yeah I know what you mean. I play hockey, but I also try to use these basic strategies when playing NHL 17 too because I'm hoping that thinking about them more will help me remember them when I actually need them.

My prayers are answered. In 6-7 years of playing rec and with other teams, no coach has ever used this, and no D core has ever discussed break out options. Whiteboard is good, by the way. My question is this: how much time should I be devoting to plyometric and agility training? All of my strength and conditioning training is on heavy compounds (squat, bench) and accessory work to develop forearm and arm. Thanks Coach.
@CoachZac6 жыл бұрын
Definitely need to add in plyos, speed/agility. At least HALF of your time should be spent on that, compared to heavier lifts. Probably more.
@CoachZac6 жыл бұрын
You see benefit from plyos and speed ON THE ICE! After a week or two you should start to feel more explosive and quicker. Then you keep pushing and working harder :)
@threethrushes6 жыл бұрын
247 Hockey Hey, thanks Coach... any chance of a video on plyo training, and frequency of training? I have spent last 6 months building core and quad strength (225lb squat for reps). Thanks!
