I've almost found myself on a Friday Fails by hitting a false neutral between 3rd and 4th. Scary moment but was able to save it. Love the Friday Fails videos, MX is a sport I would rather learn from others mistakes rather than mine.

Perfect timing. There’s a few jumps that I hit or want to hit that are right out of a corner so I’m still in the corner gear, so I’m just absolutely pinned to hit the jump

I got a tip, when exiting a left turn (when your legs out for balance) and with your foot moving back to the peg shift to a higher gear with your heel it's faster and easier than being on the peg and then shifting.

That last tip with toes pointing out is very good. I train here and there with some coach or other at the time. This other dude pointed it out to me. And it makes big difference. Adding to that toes pointing out effect your bike handling (looser grip with legs) - just try when standing up...:) good vid

I have been riding about 12 years now on a 250 2 stroke. You gave some great tips...for example, short shifting / carrying more momentum through a corner so can hit the jump without having to shift (I had a serious crash when transmission went into a false neutral while shifting on the take off ramp); Another good tip, how to accurately set gear shifter in level position and I agree its best position; Couple things I disagree with...using clutch while shifting gears (I hold it wide open and many times never even blip the throttle); And you didnt mention toes in slightly increases the leg squeeze on the bike - stabilizing it. Great tips - Thank you!

I had a full metitarcel amputation of my left foot(more then half got chopped off) from a dirtbike accident 3 years ago on a drz 400. I learned to shift all over again..aswell as walk.. just by memory and the feeling/sound of the bike, Its every thing all together bro. Hard to explain but you just shift and know where your shifting lol. Practice and get used to the bike, becomes like a second part of you eventually..Yea you can feel the shifter better in regular shoes or even work boots..but some advice I have for everyone, no madder how long your ride is..even around the block..put your mx boots on👍. Plus a helmet..should go without saying. Also theres different foot shift levers you could find that fit your bike and might work better for mx boots, been thinking about changing mine for a long while now just havnt, I get by.

I come from DH and normally cover both bar levers, last time out on the mx bike when i just held the bars/throttle i felt i had much more control and just grabbing clutch/front brake when needed (still trying to get used to a foot brake) and saved my forearms. Not sure if this is right or not ? Mx seems to be a lot moee boom and bust i guess like throttle untill you brake and turn then throttle again, whereas DH is more feathering brakes quite a lot always tapping brakes so need fingers over them. Also my local is track is all sand and has some difficult sections for me mostly 1 area where there is a long steep uphill like you couldnt walk up it steep, then right at the top it rolls down into a dip then up and down again, first hill is probably 30ft ish then down 10ft and up 10ft and down 10ft so its like jumps but not it feel so awkward the bike dropping away after having to gas it up and stay in control. Have you guys any tips on this type of stuff. The fast guys i watched seemed to power up to the top and kind of scrub the top to land down but the roller is only a few feet wide so not like scrubbing a tabletop just so there not comming off the hill and going to flat before the next steep slope. Sorry if thats long winded hard to describe. Cheers!

What are your guys opinions on sitting once in the air off of a decently big jump, like 8-12 feet in the air. Always hit jumps standing but when in the air sometimes I sit or sometimes I stand, what do you think? And btw i always stand before landing
@TheMxFactory
@TheMxFactory 4 жыл бұрын
No need at all to sit in the air, it’s a waste of movement really. Takes more energy, staying standing would be ideal. Of course if your doing some kind of trick then that’s different. But just general jumping technique, always stand

@jaceperez4281 4 жыл бұрын
The Mx Factory good to hear mostly happens when seat bouncing after the takeoff when I stand up the back end ends up kicking me in the butt and I’ve got to give the bike some gas in the air to stop it from going a little to far over, this normal?
