Do I start off in a company? Because I heard you need an amount of working hours for union, I guess companies would want experience electrician. So, how do I start an apprenticeship?

Hey bro what’s up here’s my take on what you said I went to a pre apprentice school before I got into new construction and it mostly taught me the very basics of trade work and what to know for code regulations in electrical so I say it was worth it long run because I have those connections and I learned a lot in a short time span even when I was in there and didn’t understand something I just asked and kept it in the back of my mind and then when I started working it clicked back from school basically trade schools most of the time will not prepare you to get ready in the workforce(depending on the school of course) but for the knowledge In the long term youll be prepared and ready but honestly you really can learn all that just by jumping in the workforce and asking questions to willing Forman / now the union thing I’m not sure how it works in your area but in northern nj the unions prefer guys that are new and don’t know much and are willing to train them and take them to school for free after work they pefer that cause the ones that work like me build bad habits 😂 but if you just take the aptitude test and study for it and do well same with interview you’ll be good and taken Care of with school and such I know it’s a double edged sword in the trades cause they say they need people but aren’t willing to take people that are new but if you keep applying and keep putting your self out there you’ll make it and don’t ever be scared to risk (;

@@darkwolfrip1714and also when it comes to schooling always look I know some areas don’t have much schools but if you keep looking you might find one look for adult education centers at high schools or talk to other electricians in your area

@pilymedallo thanks. My step-dad is an electrician not licensed, but he's a handyman who has knowledge of a lot of construction. He told me to apply to a community college near us that's doing apprenticeship. I live in Oregon, and the union is in Portland. I live 1-2 hours away from Portland, so I'm just looking at the community college near me
