Story 2: Girllll! Scream! If its Dad he's gonna startle and apologize for scaring you. If it's not Dad you are gonna scare whoever it is AND wake Dad up. Win-Win. Being quiet gives the creep a chance to knock you out and run off with you quietly. Nah. Scream so loud you pierce his eardrums, wake up the whole bloody campground. Scaring a possible perpetrator under those circumstances gives you a better chance of survival.

Because your body goes on to fight, flight or freeze. When you're body goes into freeze sometimes there are things that you physically can't do because your brain has decided the freeze response was your best chance for survival. It's the reason a lot of girls don't fight when they're being raped. Freezing might have saved her life, we won't ever know.

There were a group of 5 abandoned homes, all in a circle facing each other in the middle of the woods behind my house as a kid. Now, I grew up in rural GA where there are many abandoned homes. However, these were all furnished, with cars and very personal items. Each home had newspapers and magazines and the last year on them all was 1971. It was as if 5 whole families just disappeared. There wasn't even a road or a drive way leading to the homes. I used to go treasure hunting there for antiques and I always felt like I was being watched. I never found out about what happened to them.

Can be very old person live in there until death, and they didn't have children or anyone that inherits the property, so they just death and leave everything untouched, and no one do anything to the house, it happened a lot in some country, and that kind of house is always more dreadful, because the house is empty but feel lively, and I heard some story about people who heard a lot of conversation and someone doing chorus in that kind of abandoned house, when they check it there no one inside, and it happen to one of my family house, the owner of the house already death, but no one claims the house, and somehow they just left it like that with most of the furniture still in there, and the most shocking thing is when one of the neighbors ask my uncle, when he go to that house to do some house cleaning (he clean the house twice per years), and the neighbors ask him when they pass by at the roads, 100m away from the house, he say "is there family event going on in that house? I saw a lot of beautiful woman sunbathing in front of the house", when my uncle hear that he shock because none of his family member or relatives go in there, except him, and he rush to the house checking every Corner of the house, the front yard, and inside the house, and it's totally empty. I have one experience at that house few years before the house get abandoned, I saw a thing once in that house, a beings that wearing white dress walking to the bathroom from the kitchen, and I'm sure it is not human, because every person on that house at that day is on the living rooms, it's not that scary but it's make me shivers and shocked.

That first one with the laughing hit me hard. I’ve done a good bit of wild camping over the years a fair amount solo and away from the risk of encountering other people. You get used to the normal sounds of the woods, animals moving around and the sounds they make. It might wake you up and it takes a second to figure out what’s going on. The thought of being in the woods alone and hearing laughter is horrifying just thinking about it.

my sister and i used to hear voices at night (sometimes) coming from the abandoned house right next to our house.. we could never understand what they were saying even though they were very close.. it was usually very quite at night in that neighborhood and thats why we could hear almost every step someone makes outside .. so, one night we thought we need to know who those two people are .. and we were so surprised it was only our across the street neighbors .. a father and his son occasionally talked at night outside of their house, but because it was quite and the sound echos, it seemed like it was really from the abandoned house.. it might sound simple as you read this, but to us when we were young it was horrifying .. I was scared and thought it was a bear, I stayed petrified in my sleeping bag for 15 minutes before I decided I wanted to actually see the bear, and peeked out the tent between the rain fly Ended up being my mom getting the fire going and breakfast ready, she had a stuff up nose, and is not a “dainty” lady. So yeah.🤦‍♀️😂 I routinely scare bears away from my campsites now, even in the middle of the night, not to frightened of black bears in my camping area, though I give them respect, they do leave when I tell them do (especially when I have my two 80lb dogs barking and me yelling at them lol)

I was hiking after dark in a park about half a mile north of the American border (in Pembina Valley Park in Manitoba, Canada) and as I got to the completely empty parking lot and started walking across it to my car, I hear a voice from behind me say "excuse me!", and a woman, maybe 30, walks out from behind the trees I just walked past. She doesn't introduce herself and immediately (almost frantically) asks me if I can give her a ride to her boyfriends house. Without much hesitation I say yes because I'm a grown man who also happened to be armed at the time, so I didn't really fear for my safety (remember this is at nighttime, in the middle of nowhere, with no one else around for miles). Once I agree to give her a ride she says "great, I'll get my stuff", and walks back into the woods. After a few minutes she emerges again, this time with a huge duffle-bag, a pillow, a backpack, a massive tarp, and the biggest sleeping bag I've ever seen. She loads it all into my car and we start driving out of the park. I ask her what she was doing alone in the park with no car and all that camping gear (camping isn't allowed in this park) and she tells me that she's been living in the park for 28 days, fasting (not eating) the entire time as some kind of 'spiritual journey'. I know instantly that she's lying because I go to that park very often and I definitely would have heard about a crazy lady living there. We drive about 10 miles to her "boyfriends" house and as I drive down the long, winding driveway, I can tell that no one lives there. The windows were boarded up and the grass was about a foot long and there wasn't a single light coming from the house. I make a point to stop about 50 yards from the house because at this point I know something sketchy is going on here. She gets out and starts unloading her gear when I notice some movement in the trees about 20 feet to my left: it's a man sneaking towards my car, clearly trying to remain hidden. In that moment it all started to click: I was being car-jacked. I looked back to see if she had finished unloading her stuff and the second she had her last piece of gear out of my car, I threw it in reverse and floored it all the way back down the driveway. As i peeled away I looked back at the woman and she was standing there looking absolutely furious. I know it's a long shot but if you're that woman and you happen to see this, nice try.

Bruh, something similar happened to me. Not in the woods thankfully but a guy needed gas money so I offer to go to the gas station attendant and give her money. He then grabs a beer so I’m like fine I’ll get you a beer. Then he asks me to drive him to his car for his gas can. Yeah, that was a no-brainer. If you were gonna peddle gas money at a gas station, you would have brought the damn gas can with you. I then told the lady and her husband to lock the door behind me. That was really sketch.

Yep! The moment everything goes dead quiet? thats when you should also decide to be dead quiet and stay very alert. Had it happen to me an a group of guys, we were so on edge as the atmosphere just, at the snap of a finger became so freakishly tense an unnerving, last for like an hour then just as abruptly as the silence came! the weird an sometimes scary calls of animals returned. When that happened, the atmosphere returned to normal an we focused on telling stupid silly stories to eachother. At the end of the survival training, the other group also said, it happened to them at the exact same time, for the exact same amount of time, even though we had our rifles and our sidearms, a squad of guys in each group. We didn't feel any safer. one of them described it like when they were on patrol in afghan and the village that was usually filled with life was completely empty, it just felt.. off and that something REAL bad was about to happen.

I had a very scary situation happen back when me and my wife were dating. We went camping with my brother and his girlfriend. We slept in the same tent with them in this tent that was for 2 people. I am a light sleeper and i heard people walking around our camp site. I then i heard two men talking about this is where the Blonde American girl is sleeping. I grabbed my gun and woke my brother up gently. Then the tent was being unzipped by them and we came face to face with 2 men holding knives they took off running once they saw me and my brothers guns. I am guessing the men assumed there was only 2 people in the tent asleep we were basiclly sleeping on top of each other. We ended up callimg the cops and ofcurse because we have such up standing and respectable police men in Portugal they decided to kick the shit out of me and my brother. They thought we were drug users because apprerrntly this park was known for junkies which my brother didn't even look up where we were camping. He thought it was okay to camp there because he had seen tents there he didn't think it about if it was a homless camp or not just like how he thought a 2 person tent was big enough for all 4 of us. But this goes to show u how shitty Human Beings really are. A women ended up getting raped and stabbed in that park 3 weeks later. She was fortunately found by a good samaritan. This was a long time ago though. But my wife still doesn't like visiting Portugal any more after that.
