Uncle Seiko makes some amazing straps and bracelets for Seiko watches, vintage and modern. This week I look at three of the nest metal bracelets he makes. Adding a strap like this is an easy Seiko mod for your Seiko SKX, Seiko turtle and a number of vintage Seiko watches.

I actually have an STO turtle that I've tried several traditional dive straps on. That and my red dialed orient kamasu. For some reason I just couldn't connect with either of those watches. They never got word. Like you, I never gave bracelets a second look. Then came my budget Orient tristar. It came with a cheap bracelet and I didn't have a strap to put on it. So, I sized it's bracelet and realized I really liked wearing bracelets. For the kamasu, I ordered a retro razor bracelet from strapcode. I fell in love with the watch after that. Today, I have an Uncle Seiko razor wire coming for my STO turtle. I can't wait to get home and try it out.

Currently wearing an Uncle Seiko president on a Smiths PRS-25 Everest (cream dial). Using the original Smiths endlinks, and it worked out great!👌

Cool to see all three on the same watch. I have Larry’s bracelet for 6139s on one of my chronographs, but the beads of rice would really look great.

I think they all look fine. President looks expensive and solid. Others look more individual, but smart too. Interesting review.

Great review Sam. I have all 3 straps for my turtles. And have the hollow end links for my SKXs. The president is the most "normal", but the rice is the most attractive (to me). The razor (in spite of the name) IS the most comfortable. But it's also the biggest PITA to size (those tiny patterned middle links).

HaHa, Its called Salt Creek beach, a bit further south than Santa Cruz which as a New Brighton! But a lot further away than Wallasey!

Good review! I think I like the beads of rice the best out of the three but I'm intrigued by the wire bracelet. Not sure I could get used to that look though. If I'm to be honest I think I'm just a big fan of the Oyster style bracelet. It's my "go to" on many of my watches. It hits the sweet spot between vintage and modern for me.

Love the razor wire strap. But with my old eyes I'd never be able to size it. Uncle seiko rocks though 👍👍

Resizing that razor wire is all part of the fun. Its like an ancient puzzle. Whoever makes the straps must be an expert at it or there is a funky machine that does it. It really adds to the comfort!

Thank you for an excellent review and comparison Sam. I have only heard good things about Uncle Seiko and ever since you interviewed Larry I have had it in mind to get one of his straps. My only problem is that a review like this doesn't help me...I just makes me want to get them all :)

I’ve got Larry’s BOR on both my Mini Turtle and my Samurai. I think it’s my favorite of his bracelets. Very comfortable and really pairs perfectly with the Samurai especially. BTW, the beads of rice was originally a Doxa design.

Hi Steve, I should have mentioned Doxa, I had it in my head it was on early seamasters first so thanks for the clarification. I really liked the beads of rice, in fact I was impressed with all of them. Razor Wire for me just tipped the scale!

Thanks alot for the comparision. I normally wear all my watches on thick and stiff leather bands because i like them sitting stable on my wrist. Do you think the Razor is to flimsy/shaky for me then or should i try it?

Nice reviews, thinking of getting both the wire razor and the president. Just wondering, I know this bracelet is for turtle, has anyone tried on the new Seiko 5 sport? Will it work since it has similar 22mm lug?

I think the razor wire is one of those things that makes you do a double take when you first see it cos it's like nothing youv seen before then when you get used to it your like yeah that's pretty cool. What's it like weight wise? How did you find the end links on the turtle did they fit well or was there a little play

The fit was good, you sometimes have to play around with the end links and massages them a bit to get a good fit as explained in the upload. The weight is the best part, it feel like it weights hardly anything!

The Seiko lugs are super specific to each model. I would check out Larry’s website. He has straight end versions also. I would never trust trying a strap made for one Seiko model on another too much of a risk

Uncle seiko sells end links for his straps on the site. I would also check eBay.

I’m looking at the president bracelet for my king turtle, was it easy to fit/size to your wrist? My wrist is also the same size as yours 👍🏽

Yes very easy! Its just pins so if you have the right pin removal tool you should be great. I have an ipload in how to do it on an invicta, principle is the same

Yep I’m going to have to bow out because they are so specific these seiko bracelets, honestly if you have to change it. Just go with a straight end one, even a mesh, they look good as straight end. I can’t think of any one makes bracelets for the entry level seikos

It has solid end links so I really doubt this turtle one would fit on any other watches. He has some of the straps with straight end links that are universal.

I have a question. Why does the watch face of the Seiko skx 009J blue face look different in various photos of the watch on sale on different Web sites? In some photos it looks black to much lighter blue than it really is.

I would encourage you to check out the Uncle seiko site, They do have a straightened razor wire strap. Seikos are particular with what end links work.

I remember seeing Steph Curry taking his watch, stretching it and putting his left hand through it and it fit like a glove. Would that be a president bracelet that he had? I'm saving up for my first "adult" watch (Seiko 5) and wondering if that's the one I need so it fits really well and lasts long and looks good.

It looks like I made a mistake (parallel universe maybe?). I don't know if you see the watch he is wearing in the video, but that's a presidential bracelet, correct? hey Andy, They only fit the specific model they are made for, this is something that Uncle Seiko says is difficult with seiko watches. I would ask him if his SKX009 straps may fit, I'm not sure if the cases are exactly the same?

President Bracelet all day everyday and second the Oyster Bracelet, the rest l wouldn't bother with. Compare The President with the Oyster.
