I’ve been suffering from sciatica for over 2 years, to the point I couldn’t even walk. I’ve had 3 MRI scans, seen countless doctors, Physio’s, osteopaths, sports therapists, all misdiagnosed me... yet you guys hit the nail on the head. I did the stretch’s last night and for the first time in 2 years I haven’t needed my pain killers today 🙏🏼👍🏼

I'm a surfer from Hawaii and I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I usually never cry from injuries but tonight I was in a lot of pain after surfing six hours for five days straight my piriformis was fried and I felt like death from the amount of pain I was in and that little figure four stretch just gave me a moment of relief which meant the absolute world to me.. Keep doing what your doing cause you really are the best. mahalo

If you don't mind me asking, What injuries did you have and which excercises did yoy do? I had a bad sciatica nerve pain flare up 3 weeks ago and I cannot walk, I ended up in the ER and they did nothing for me, except gave some meds for pain and inflamation, which did not help much. My doctor wants me to see a spine doctor but I dont think I need that. It seems like I need a physio doc but she don't want to give me a refferal for it.

Hi Bob and Brad. I was suffering from a deep, intense pull like pain in my left glute area for almost 8 months now, after I overstretched for a tennis shot. Not knowing how to fix it, I would just massage my own butt and stretch it out a bit. But, the pain always came back, sometimes stronger than before. Sitting in any set position for more than 30 minutes became almost unbearable, to the point where I had to take a walk while watching movies. Then, fed up, I searched online and am grateful to have found your video. Watched it intently and did all the stretches and also the tennis ball treatment and the RELIEF was IMMEDIATE. Was like a godsend. The pain is gone while I play and is definitely gone when I sit through movies. I was telling my wife about how happy I was to find this video. May god bless you guys and may you have a great lives! A very sincere thank you from India.

Guys, I've had no end of physio and appointments to find the on going issues of pain in my left leg/knee. It's made getting exercise so hard as running triggered so much pain. I looked at all your other sciatic videos and knee related issues and holy hell I think you made me crack it. 5 years ago I fell and broke my tail bone and since then I've had these issues. I just did ur stretches and massaged with a foam roller and OH MY GOD IVE NEVER HAD A PAIN THAT FELT SO AMAZINGLY GOOD. I can actually bend down to touch my toes without the pain stopping me prematurely!!!! You guys are truly God sends and your videos are amazing. Thank you so much

Praise God for you guys. I've had numbness in one foot since December. An orthopedic foot doctor told me I had Raynaud's and sent me home. It took me four months of research and experimentation but I finally found your video after trying to treat herniated disc. I had never heard of Piriformis Syndrome but that's exactly what I have affecting only the peroneal nerve. I had increased running frequency last year and also do a lot of sitting for work. Discovered through this that I had weak glutes and a tight piriformis. Four weeks after doing these stretches and exercises (and some other glute exercises) my numbness is nearly gone! I expect it to be totally resolved in another week or two. Thank you!

The self tests you guys explained for piraformis syndrome pinpointed what I believe is exactly what I have been experiencing. I’ve been doing the exercises and massages and they have provided so much relief from the pain I can’t thank you enough. My insurance does not pay for physical therapy even if I had been accurately diagnosed so this has been a godsend. Thank you guys so much. One round, and I can feel the affected area reacting positively. I suffer from levator sydrome very badly, and I think my piriformis is one of the sources. My coccyx was stuck to the side a few years back, and I was experiencing syncope. I was passing out for months, and the only stretch my therapist told me would help was squatting down. It eventually escalated into sciatic problems, and would affect my ability to put on socks in the morning. Leg pain, knee pain... I literally just wanted to chop my left leg off above the hip. Actually making it through the day was an incredibly hard experience, and I have a very high pain threshold. I will make this part of my routine with rest between the exercise portion of the treatment. I can't express how much this video means to me.

Excellent! There's so little on piriformis injuries versus disc issues that I didn't suspect this. These exercises worked almost miraculously. And your cautions - no wallet in back pocket, sleeping on side, running on uneven surfaces - I had done them all, but only recently, before the injury. Thank you so much for this and your other related videos!!

Thank you so much! The exercises and stretches are helping and my leg is feeling better - I was so frightened about the pain in my leg and your videos helped me to figure out the problem - which came totally out of left field for me.

I'm an over the road truck driver and I keep my wallet, which is thick, in my left rear pocket. This morning I stepped out of the truck and felt a searing pain in my left leg all the way down to my foot. I am trying these exercises out starting now, and feeling a bit of relief. Thank you.

When I did the first exercise, I found that pushing my knee against my hand (away from the body) for 5 to 10 seconds first before relaxing and pulling into the stretch, allowed a much better stretch with less pain. Thanks to you both ! Great videos!

Great advice, should have been mentioned in the video! This kind of static stretch under tension at the end of "range of motion" works great for this and other tight muscles.

Just wanted to let you guys know I did the stretching exercise you recommend, and it's been about a month without a sciatic flare up. It had reached pretty debilitating levels, and I was looking for a way to treat the cause of the pain, rather than just medicate the pain away. Your online presence is great, put me at ease, and I just wanted to let you know I've recommended this to various friends who also suffer. Thanks!

...This is the best I've felt since February when the flare up started. At times, I've felt hopeless, but have gathered up strategies to help myself. These are extremely helpful. Thank you so much for giving so freely...especially given the challenges, to say the least, with health insurance. Will definitely be sharing this. *What other piriformis or related exercises do you recommend? Do you have any that can be done without a table? Standing? Laying? Also for balance? From your Amazon list of products, do you have specific, affordable recommendations for low back and sciatica pain?

thanks for the reply. even the final exercise at the end video on the table when hes laying on his stomach? it seems like the piriformis would be exhausted all the time. have you seen piriformis syndrome in avid cyclists? I think doing alot of cycling is what caused it for me. I've had this pain for 2 years now. but it got a lot worse a week ago. I started doing the first stretch you showed a few days ago. and it seemed to be helping. then I added in the exercise at the end of your video, and some others I found online for piriformis syndrome yesterday and I'm more sore today than ever. hopefully I will bounce back stronger. typically I feel better as the day goes on. when I first get out of bed, my lower back is soooo tight and sore, i can't bend over.

Ashlee Thompson do less of a stretch. You're obviously compressing the nerve so just back off slightly from a full stretch. Should feel like a stretch and not be painful or exacerbate your symptoms

I recently started to have this pain, at first I thought it was the sciatica, them after going to a doctor, he mentioned it was my piriformis muscle that was causing my pain. He told me to have pills to relax the muscle and gave me 4 shots to relieve the pain. I started doing these exercises now and I did the one where the guy on the blue shirt found the " soft spot in the buttocks ", and I started massaging my buttcheeck and it started to feel waay better. At first was pain, second time used a Bengay cream to complement the hot and cold exercise and it was better. It worked for me, I hope it works for you. All you need to do is to be constant. Otherwise it will not help at all.

Well done. I have had issues in this area for over a year and trying to sleep with it is not easy. I recently started doing stretches before bed which helped. As I read somewhere else, the stretches are a temporary fix, but the strengthening of this muscle is the long term fix.
