I'm from India can you help me out with how the Co op system would work and in total which is 2 years college then 2 years university which is co op how much would it cost? Hi @@charleneestabaya 😊You're welcome. UofT is a good option. I did my undergrad at Ryerson, it was ok. The program at Ryerson is very technically focused. Whereas the programs at UBC and UofT are more diverse and balanced (between design, and technical skills). @@keven11tween96 the programs that come to mind with co-op programs include UBC and Waterloo. I would recommend checking out each university since the co-op programs can vary from school to school. They break down the costs and the structure of the program. I would also get in contact with each program with your questions, they will be best to advise you on the co-op program.

Hi Simon, thanks for the feedback. You bring up some good points which I will look into. I did my undergrad at Ryerson and also attended Carleton for architecture (where I ended up switching programs) and I would not recommend the programs. From the program itself, to the building/ studio space, faculty, and the resources. Also, I think this depends on the individual and what you want to get out of your education along with what factors are most important to you. It is a bit of an individual by individual case however overall the schools do have global rankings which I took into consideration along with my experience of the programs.

Hi Keith! Thank you for sharing your undergrad experience, this also gives me more insight. I think the masters or PhD programs might be a bit better then the undergrad program since it’s more focused. However, I have met a few people that finished the undergrad program at UofT and were able to find work. I feel like this really depends on the person as well and how you fit within the program. Maybe UBC would be a better fit for you or perhaps Waterloo which is more technical. Something to think about.

I would 100% agree with what you said. I graduated a year and half ago from Ryerson and their program is so much better than UofT's. UofT is very theory based while Ryerson is science based and you learn a lot of crucial things like structure, HVAC, sound, thermal performance and much more. It is brutal though. I was thinking of going to UofT for my master to take it a bit more easy and I'm a bit scared of Ryerson.

@@junhengtan8934 Its more theory and arts based and almost zero science based. Ryerson's Architecture program (Architectural science) is heavily based on structure and math. Which I know UofT provides none of I think UBS provides a better opportunity to learn these skills as its something you need to know to even get a job in the field (You do the jobs others don't want to do, meaning you will never design an actual building but rather do schedules, calculations and make sure everything meets code.) I also know UofT doesn't offer project management and building science courses, Ryerson does. Most firms hire people who have knowledge in these subjects because every project has jobs that need to be done relating to schedules and its not really fun and its very repetitive. To say in shorter terms. UofT will not get you into any Architecture Masters program unless you have these superb references and portfolio that surpasses anything they teach in their undergrad program. Very few jobs are out there for people who graduate from UofT's Architecture program (In architecture itself)

Hey there just to clarify the above information is not correct. The rome studio is offered in the 4th year of study. Each student will study in the Rome studio for the first semester of the 4th year. The coop is not exactly 2 years. Rather you are give 6 coop opportunities whereby you have to find your own job. In order to graduate you must fulfill 5/6 coop slots. Coop is mandatory for graduation. I will also add the space for students is actually much larger than UofT. Each UG student gets his/her own assigned desk in the studio which is quite large. Uoft students dont have the same luxury as we are all crammed in studio desk rows with no separation (this is at the graduate level). The UG students at Uoft do not get assigned seating and thus have to fight for limited space.

Thats correct, I noticed that as well but to simplify things in the video I only included tuition fees and the university fee but didn't include the program incidental fees that were program specific in the chart you mentioned. I know the costs are disappointing, it's a lot to take in. I would look into scholarships and other ways of funding the degree. Try your best to limit the debt, you'll see the benefits in the long run. Hi Mohona! Thank you for the feedback! Your software knowledge is enough to get into a program and once you are in the program you will learn more. I would also learn Rhino however its not required, I learned Rhino once I was enrolled into the program. It's more about what you do with the programs, you're critical thinking skills. The programs are tools to express your ideas. Some scholarships are granted upon acceptance into the program (entrance scholarships) and others you have to apply. Entrance scholarships are typically based on academic performance. Hi Tarun, I don't have any direct experience with the University of Calgary but the program seems interesting. The school really depends on what factors are important to you, I'd recommend watching this video for more insight on the factors to consider; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndxdea5kptvJmY0.html . In terms of Carleton, I went to Carleton briefly and it wasn't a good fit for me because the program didn't have the balance I was seeking. The program fell short on the technical and practical skills which was important to me and would ultimately help me to get employed upon graduating. It was heavy on the theoretical and conceptual side. I personally found UBC to be a nice balance between theory and the technical/practical side. However, this is personal and ultimately you should see what works best for you. I hope this helps 😊

Hi Mr.NoOne, an 80%+ average should meet the requirements for admission into UBC undergrad program. It's important to note that meeting the academic requirements doesn't guarantee admission. So, it's important to build a solid portfolio.

Hi Anonymous! Each program is different. I would recommend go through each program and going through all the courses to compare. McGill is also a good school to consider. I personally don't know much about the program however I know a few people that attended the program and loved it. Both UBC and McGill are great options, top tier schools in Canada. Upon completing your Bachelors you'd need to complete a professional (accredited) masters degree in architecture to become a licensed architect. Hi Eindra! Its great your thinking about your masters degree already. You need an bachelors degree/ undergrad to apply for a masters. Typically an undergrad is a 4 year program (at least in Canada and the US). Most undergraduate degrees in Canada and the US within Architecture are not accredited (professional) programs so if your thinking about becoming a licensed Architect you'd need a professional masters degree that is accredited since your undergrad is not accredited. However, in some countries the bachelor in architecture is a longer degree (at least 5 years) and is considered a professional accredited degree (make sure to check if the program is accredited if your thinking about getting licensed). To keep your options open in the future I would recommend making sure the program is accredited. Hi Anonymous! UBC is a great option, I really enjoyed my time at UBC for my masters. You have many options for scholarships with good academic standing. Also, that will increase your chances of getting entrance scholarships. Hi Chinedu, I'm planning a video on PhD programs however from the universities listed in the video only University of Toronto offers a PhD program. And UBC offers a post professional degree that is research base but is not a PhD program.

Hi Elham! You're welcome 😊 If your goal in the end is to become an Architect and to practice in the field, the experience is more valuable and you could start your licensure journey by collecting your experience. The PhD wouldn't be useful for future employment in the field however if you are thinking about going into academia then a PhD would be helpful. I also wanted to do a PhD however since I want to practice its not useful or practical, I wouldn't gain anything from the PhD unless I plan to go into teaching or writing. If you're still conflicted I would start with the internship which involves less of a commitment and if you don't enjoy the internship then you could always go and do your PhD.
