To be fair in Georgie's case; Pennywise is a supernatural being who essentially hypnotizes children into doing stupid things they otherwise know they shouldn't do. So Georgie wasn't being dumb by trusting a clown he found in the sewers; he was charmed into doing as Pennywise directed.

There was a deleted scene on the 2017 remake DVD, Georgie survived, he didn't die. He just grabbed his paper boat and walked away. And boom! Credits. So basically, Georgie had to die, because if he didn't die, there would be no movie. So there's no getting around Georgie's death.

The bit in the Mist was not a stupid decision, it was a good decision based on the information they had at the time. It was just a horrible irony of timing that made it bad IN RETROSPECT. Which is the opposite of a stupid decision.

And when it's a story where the monster or monsters are fully human or something else completely mortal... seems no gun owners, or at least ones who not only own them but have taken care that they practice enough to be able to use them well, are ever chosen by the bad guys. Well, I suppose the killers are smarter than do that, it would suck if the intended victim would shoot you before you managed to kill her with your ax or knife. 🤔 Heh. Might be sort of fun if in some film we'd first be shown how the masked ax murderer first observes some lone woman in her isolated country house, but then sees her go to the back yard and observes she has a private gun range there, and she shoots well, and decides to keep looking for the next victim elsewhere.

Technically in Midsommar Mark didn't get himself killed. They were gonna kill him anyway. That's literally why he was brought there. Peeing on the tree definitely didn't work in his favor but he had no way of knowing that tree was important to them. He could've been a little more apologetic about it though

For me, the two dumbest was Prometheus, where the biologist tries to pat an alien snake monster, and Alien Covenant where the captain places his head over some scary looking alien thing at the behest of an obviously dodgy android.

Obviously the cryosleep or whatever they use in that universe to make space travel times more tolerable tends to damage their brains. Although they perhaps had improved the system before the Nostromo incident as those crew members acted somewhat more sensibly, especially Ripley.

Even in Alien only Ripley has her head on straight. They get a distress call that they then find out was not a distress call but a warning! Guy gets attacked and has a dangerous alien lifeforms attached to his face, and everyone was demanding that Ellen let them bring his infectious ass into the ship! Ash was ultimately responsible for letting them in, but everyone besides Ripley agreed they wanted squid face to come into their ship. They got what they deserved!

Another reason why you should never run up the stairs is because the killer can throw you out a high window and *splat! You're dead. You should also never stand in front of a window because the killer can see you clearly and smash through right behind you/pull you out and attack. Addison stupidly split the syringe in half right before sticking her free hand into the box too

I hate it when all of the sudden the person trying to run from danger just can’t seem to run!! They trip, tangle up into everything, get injured while running. And this is while a maniacs is chasing them with an axe and gaining on them. Any other time in the movie they run just fine. I hate that. ❤️💜💚

In Scream 5, Dewey shoots the Ghostface, and while everybody else gets on the elevator, Dewey goes back to make sure the killer is dead, and then dies in the process with TWO Knives. THAT was stupid, he could've lived in Scream 5, but he chose to stay behind, and gets sliced and diced. Enough said.

The stupid thing is they had to hang up to recall her. The way phones worked if they didn't hang up the call wouldn't drop so she would pick the headset back up and the killer would still have been on the line.

Switch going after the dog with trusting Steve to man the door, Nicole going after chips only got one person killed and they needed to go to the gun store anyways for weapons and ammunition. Trusting Steve was what got most of the other survivors (Steve included) killed

By far the most common stupid decision in horror movies is when characters don't immediately arm themselves when encountering a threat. Watching characters absentmindedly walk past the knife block that exists in literally everyone's kitchen while being stalked by actually killable killers is frustrating as hell. Second place goes to discarding weapons too early and/or not finishing the job.

*having a séance *playing with a ouja board *going back to the church (JC) *going back to check if the killer is dead. *building over sacred ground. *getting into a strangers car. *taking a drink from a stranger. *having a baby (A quiet place) * going into a strangers home ( various ) * leaving the compound ( 28 weeks later)

I wouldn't necessarily count the pregnancy in A Quiet Place. They had been isolated in that farm a long time, and pregnancies kind of tend to sometimes happen even when people are using contraceptives if they have sex. Under those circumstances they would no longer have had reliable contraceptives, so, especially since as far as I remember it is never said in the movie that the pregnancy was planned, it presumably wasn't. The parents had sex, and even though they tried to be careful, she got pregnant. How many adults would be able to go for complete celibacy, especially when they are constantly with their partner? Not many. So yes, not smart, but rather understandable. And under those circumstances they would not have had any safe and reliable way to terminate the pregnancy either, so even if they would have been willing to do that otherwise, the risk of killing her would presumably kept them from doing that.

It should have worked. If they had stayed sleeping a few more minutes. If the guys hadn't gotten there in time. If Ripley wasn't the band's of all badasses. The company would have done anything to get two infected bodies back, so the rest of his plan would have gone down smooth.

The Number 14 pick is what earned Vickers' death the "Dull Machete for lamest kill" when James A Janisse covered "Prometheus" on "Kill Count". You know a decision is dumb when the host of a show that counts off kills in horror movies gives such an award to a particular kill.

How about Annie from the 1978 Halloween? When she is going to pick up Paul, she tries to get in the car but its locked... She goes to gets the keys, comes back to the car, OPENS THE DOOR WITHOUT USING THE KEYS TO UNLOCK IT..... Then only notices the foggy windows right before she gets killed.

Bonus dumbest decision. Jaws - convincing the family to go in the water. Why did Larry need people in the water, he has the tourists in droves all over the island spending money. Dumb mistake and an actual experience a friend of mine had in real life: hide in a closet, pick up cell phone and dial 911 for help then realize the light of the phone and the sound of the dial tones are giving away my hiding spot to the intruders or monsters in the house !

With regards to the idiotic Prometheus decision, Ridley Scott could have solved this at the very least by having the character in a six foot ravine or channel where it would be a waste of time trying to crawl out and the only viable option was to try and outrun the rolling ship

I may not be a horror know it all but I do know that dumb choices are very well known in horror movies. I do remember an actress saying something like that in a horror movie, Fantasy Island.

As much as & everyone loved John Hurt... his character Kane is the reason why there were 4 (soon to be 5) Alien films. When on an Alien planet with strange eggs in front of you, if you see one of those eggs open in front of you, what do you do? Don't go near the egg. Kane? He stuck his face right into it.

What about walking into traps? Apparently a cop in You’re Next didn’t notice until he was killed off screen at the film’s climax. Thinking he would help until he didn’t get the warning

Going Into The Pipe (Jeepers Creepers) has to be the absolute dumbest on the list. I wanted to give this to those two from Prometheus but maybe we can attribute their stupidity to the panic induced by the moment. What reason do you have to climbing down that pipe that you just saw a dude dump a body into instead of calling the police? At least call the police first. What was your plan once you got down there? What was your plan to get out? The dude was already harassing you and you think he's doing something illegal, is it really a good idea to put yourself into his crosshairs?

Well, they established in the movie that the dog was in no danger from the zombies, but the girl panicked anyway, they ended up having to go in to save her which caused the disaster dominoes that led to the group's ultimate downfall

What about making sure the villain is dead? The two girls from 2022’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre should’ve done that before getting grabbed by the killer and got decapitated. The other (who voiced Agnes in Despicable Me) survived
