Honestly for most…I’d have just stuck with the English translation of the titles. As for the character names…yeah could have been done better

Lunas right I would have stuck with the English translations especially if I wasn't sure of my pronunciation. Im only giving the guy a hard time because it sounds like English is his first language... the way he pronounced Ken kaneki made me shudder.... like he sounded out every letter.

Claymore is more epic medieval for me. Fight are damn crazy and powerful, characters so badass and a lot of epics scenes. Like hellsing, and berserk, thse animes are using horror settings but are more focused on action than a horror story

'Another' is a good horror/mystery/thriller anime. It's mostly mystery with a great horror atmosphere. It's about a kid arriving at his new school, but his classmates act super weird especially around this girl with an eye patch. They all pretend like she doesn't exist and fear for their life whenever someone mentions the the eye patch girl. The series really keeps you guessing.

Missed Vampire Princess Miyu. Nice understated psychological horror with disturbing undertones and carries a mood. Fans of more gothic horror would like this.

Ghost hunt is such an underrated show, I think it does a great balancing act with comedy and horror. I also think it has very underrated character development, each character becomes more and more likable and interesting as the show goes on. The best arc by far is the mansion arc, it shows off so much of what makes the show great but also in my opinion is the most scary, “the old man saying I don’t want to die” is just too unsettling and the link to Countess Elizabeth is creative.

I love horror and anime and this list has a few of my favorites: Akira, Perfect Blue, Hellsing Ultimate, Paprika, Higorashi No Naku Koro Ni, Vampire Hunter D, Blood +, Hell Girl, Elfen Lied, and Another, but I do think Serial Experiments Lain should be on this list.

Not gonna lie, I would have facepalmed if I had a free hand when Shiki was being summarized. Shiki is literally an investigation/suspense anime with a small town being slowly invaded, killed, turned, and cut off from the world around it. Meanwhile, the inhabitants try to survive the threat of being killed off, eaten, or being turned into monsters as they fight back after an increasing number of villagers learn the truth. Also, he said the Fanservice in Highschool of the Dead felt natural...

I like how Dorohedoro is counted as horror when it's not scary in the slightest. But if you aren't used to blood then it's scary for you. But it's a great comedy/action/fantasy anime. I recommend it greatly

anime could be disturbing but not scary you're right but believe me there are alot out there that should've made the list for example devil man violence jack Ninja Scroll Genocyper kite Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend Angel cop Wicked City , and alot more most of them were in golden age of anime the 80's and 90's and it can be listed under the Gore Genre so yeah very disturbing

I prefer bokurano to shadow star but that might be because a good chunk of the violence was cut out of the anime. I wish the narutaru manga got rereleased in English uncensored. Elfen Lied's did and it's pretty horrific.(it even got released by dark horse, the same company thst originally released narutaru's manga).

I really enjoyed Shinsekaiyori, but it can be extremely slow at times. The entire arc following the mole people when they were kids was stretched out longer than it needed to be and just dragged on.

I am not sure if it counts as horror, maybe partially, but I love "Gungrave". It is hard to find an anime-series, that deep into storytelling. It is pure gold!

For some reason Horror Animation never scares me. I can be grossed out or saddened by it but never scared. Jump scared maybe but no genuine fear or dread like The Exorcist, I wonder why.

- I think our brains have trouble suspending disbelief since its still cartoony. I don't get get scared by them eitehr and even when I was younger I could watch horror anime and animated stuff like that fine but end up scared with nightmares.

The manga is more horror than the anime. I wish it had gotten past the content of volume 2 out of an 11 volume long series. The English release of the anime is missing some ovas as well.

Yeh, you made a horror list and forgot about Corpse Party: Blood Covered, easily one of the best I've ever read/seen. Teenagers do a charm to stay friends forever and end up in another dimension of their school where they have to try to stay alive fighting off vengeful ghosts of children's that were kidnapped and brutally murdered.
