Thanks for your great work. The channel is gonna grow. There's a lot of people out there who don't have $ or want pay a lot for a used car and being reliable is the key. When you work paycheck to paycheck 1 major repair could be the start of financial ruin for many = no car, no job, no rent, etc.

@michaelking4578
@michaelking4578 5 жыл бұрын
Toyotas do die. All of them. Problem with buying a Toyota or Lexus is that many people assume Toyotas never die. But some people think that means Toyotas don't need to be maintained. You can buy a Lexus just before it bottoms out on depreciation and then drive it for years and neglect it. Then you can sell it when it needs a timing chain or has an issue with the VVT and needs suspension work. I've had many Toyotas and Lexii. LS400, Camry, and GS300. If you keep the maintenance up and replace parts as they break then yeah, they last a long time. But finding a used one that is old and not neglected is very hard.

To me market doesn't lie, BMW, Mercedes, Audi most models lose 90% of their value in 10 years, this is not me these are the prices on Autotrader, etc. e.g. 2008 MB GL550 new 100k in 2018 only as low as $8k with only 150k miles, Toyota Land Cruiser 2008 new 80k in 2008, in 2018 $25k minimum with 250k+ miles. We can talk about reliability of each brand but market doesn't lie. We can talk about cons and pros of each brand, but when a brand loses 90% of their value in only 10 years, there is a reason for that and again that price is set not by individual but market. I understand there are individual experiences with MB, BMW, Audi with 400k miles+ reliable, but I am looking at overall picture and when I see prices on MB on Autotrader that cost 100k just 10 years ago and now they are less than 10k, there is probably reason for that.

BS , European cars are way better in every way ,quality ,mileage , reliability .This is just American bias toward European cars ,just cause they're so expensive. And Japanese cars ,while reliable, can't match European cars for quality ,inside /out. The best Japanese luxury brand ,Lexus , is at least 10 years behind ,say Mercedes Benz for everything , so sorry pal , you're wrong.

Hello ,did you know that here in Europe most taxi cab drivers drive Mercedes-Benz? I took a cab here in Europe the other day and the guy had a Mercedes-Benz with 1000.000 km, that's about 620.000 miles on it! He told me he had no real problems with the car,just regular service and replacing parts that needed replacing after normal wear and tear .So I don't think your reliability issues don't stick on European cars,maybe you're not maintaining your European car properly friend.

I just bought a Lincoln Town Car with just under 5,000 (yes, five THOUSAND) miles on the odometer. It was like new, inside, outside and underneath. I definitely paid a premium given its condition, but I still paid about 1/3 original sticker price and FAR less than any cheap new car I could buy today. It is exquisitely comfortable, smooth and quiet and there is copious room in the engine compartment to do routine maintenance. I'm praying I can drive this for the next 15 years and never have to buy another car again. :-)

The big problem with including the panther bodies in this is *operating hours* . Seriously, they are almost like cheating lol!!! None of the other cars can touch panthers for total operating time. Most fleet panthers idled 5x the hours that they drove (police, Fed, taxi). A 300K fleet panther body could have easily seen the wear of a million mile engine. This measure of durability is factored into medium duty trucks and any study including popular fleet vehicles *must* account for it. There is a very good reason they stuck around for so long and it’s not fleet subsidies. It’s longevity for money.

06 Acura RL with 270k miles before it was junked. However the car isn't as reliable as a Lexus. It's got electrical problems, lights come on and off in the dash, probably due to all the high tech features. Motor mounts are prone to failure and was what eventually took mine out for good. The 5-speed auto held up until 270k. The 3.5L v6 is bulletproof.

I just had a 1999 LeSabre's engine grenade on me, at only 89k miles. Turns out the heat sensor was out, so there was no way of knowing that i was overheating it with just regular use. Got a Lexus 2006 ES330 with 124k on the dash.

When looking for a 90s Town Car, make sure it was someones daily driver and maintained properly. If it was sitting be prepared to replace a lot of the parts such as spark plugs, battery, fuel pump, etc.

ALL panthers (79-11) have the exploding gas tank problem. The axle shock mounting and diff bolts bursts the fuel tank You could buy a kit (probably new old stock now) to lessen the chances of an explosion. It was made for police cars but I have it on my Grand Marquis. The tank has to be hit at over 70 MPH.

Just because these cars go a long distance doesn't mean that they are economical to own. Usually these cars have automatic everything and that stuff has the habit of breaking down. Just for instance, the license plate lights on a five year old Cadillac went out and to replace them the entire back of the car had to be disassembled. This cost $1500. My 1994 Chevy 1500 cost me $3 for new lights.And I owned an 17 Grand Marquis, the blend door went out (a common problem with that platform) which meant a dash disassembly to fix. Plastic gears. The computer in the door went out and cost over $300 to fix. I think a lot of people just drive them with these problems and never fix them.

I have a 97 LeSabre and it’s got 114,000 miles as of 9/22/2018. It’s been very well maintained by a trustworthy local mechanic, and I’m gonna drive it forever, if it breaks, I’ll fix it. I just love it that much.

My lexus ls430 2001 has 321000 miles. Original engine and transmission. Original alternator and starter. Just regular maintenance required. All mechanics that worked on my car said it will do over 500000 miles with regular maintenance.

Unfortunately ur approach doesn’t take into account the number of problems along the way. The Avalon and the ls430 would have the least amount of problems along their journey to high miles.
