I have questions about shampooing is it okay to shampoo your hair twice every wash day(which is once a week for me) Would this help with hair growth sense you need a healthy scalp to grow hair. I reallllly want longer hair ( not to the floor mind you) but like 3 inch’s above my 🍑 is there any tips like( rice water rinse, clear frying shampoo,oils/ serums) that you know for a fact could help. I’m sorry for the long message I’ve been watching you for 5 years now and all of my hair growth and my routine is because of you thank you so much you have no idea how much you have truly helped I am forever great full❤️

Number 5 is so true but I would add just because someone is a professional hairstylist on KZfaq doesn’t mean they know everything either although they like to speak so dogmatically. Some of the best advice I got that helped my curls were from non-professional curly hair influencers. So don’t let a title fool you.

Take all advice with a grain of salt. But if your hair is damaged and broken its time to try something different.

I watch a variety of influencers to find out how to do my hair. One girl I particularly loved showed how you can wash and style over two days rather than trying to do everything in one day. I was getting tired of spending hours washing, deep conditioning, sitting with the conditioner and then styling all in one day. It was exhausting and her solution was so simple!

It took me about seven years to figure out how to apply product on my thick hair! I was applying it as if I had thin hair. Now that I do it the right way, my hair is so shiny and curly and beautiful!❤

As someone who is mixed (East Asian & White) with low porosity 2c/3a hair. I value your input and Manes By Mel. I've learned a lot from you both and I appreciate you, especially with being so transparent, and REAL. You also don't gate keep either, which makes me happy. I started my journey two years ago, close to three now when I lopped my hair off. Due to damaged processed hair, it killed my texture so much, and I was dealing with breakage. Anyways, thank you for being awesome!!

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I wish I had known these things earlier on in my curl life. Adding my 2 cents, 100% on the curl pattern note. As a biracial (black/white) gal, I have learned thru many trials and tribulations that it doesn’t mean jack re:your haircare routine. My hair is very soft and fine with multiple textures and high porosity. Most people and brands will push the "heavy product will weigh it down" angle and suggest products that I have learned do nothing for my hair. My hair is high density and constantly thirsty, and being so fine, if it's not sealed properly (I'm talking emollients, baby!), will dry out and lose definition by day 2. And sealing oils are a no go for my super fine hair. While influencers like yourself have helped me tremendously, it was a recent stylist who abandoned my yearslong routine of leave-in/gel and got me using Innersense Hydrating shampoo/conditioner along with their whipped texturizer and NOTHING ELSE! And it has been a revelation. Gel be gone! Products aren't cheap but not having to use 2 products evens it out and my wash lasts for days longer. Long story, too long 😊 I would never have known this was what I needed based on what's out there. Real knowledge and expertise about YOUR hair is critical. Harder to find for some of us but it's possible. In the immortal words of Winston Phillips (you know you love them), the dream is still alive! 😂

This video is very informative! It’s true when you say don’t follow everyone’s way of doing their hair. Try different methods. My hair is fine with low density as well and if I don’t make small sections to apply product it’ll come out so frizzy. 2 sections won’t do it for me but your hair looks awesome!

Great tips! I just did a similar at video!! I pick things from my favs that work for me so like you, I now apply some products in 2 sections. Even though my hair isn’t fine( it’s medium) my density is medium/low so I can do the 2 sides and get coverage like you lol. Makes such a big difference in my time💚

Love the list and completely agree sometimes i have to section (3 sections for wash and go's, 4 sections for blow drying) or i can just do two sections like your styling method if I'm using a cream and just make sure every spot covered. I have high porosity, medium density, hair mid-back length, 3c so its curly and bleached+color, also i have sensitive/hypoallergenic skin so im always cautious. I find myself looking more for products to wash my hair with vs styling due to me trying to maintain the color but i do have my bianca approved stash (no silicones or harsh ingredients👐🏻).

I’ve been putting product on damp barely wet hair for years! I have now been applying my leave in/or cream in the shower after I’ve washed it, it’s an extra step but soooo worth it!

Totally agree. I take it a step further and put my heat cap on over my leave in conditioner for about 15-20 minutes before I style. My hair is always moisturized and because I apply my products in section, it comes out super defined and last me 4-5 days, sometimes can even stretch to 6 days.

I try to be lazy and not section. Doesn't really work unless I comb the product through. I don't read the instructions and stuff that much. 😅For some crazy reason, I thought maybe wetting my hair was optional. Nope! I was 'antibrush' for a while and tried to finger detangle, I wasn't thorough enough. Knots would be insane. I bought a tangle teaser for the first time weeks ago and fell in love with the detangling process. So yeah definitely realized that I can't be straying from what works. LOL
