the film is very boring. all the dialogues and the acts of characters are silly, despite it was inspired by the cartoon which had been made for children of 5 to 10 years. the setting, i mean cinderella's home and the castle are quite nice, but these dresses....cinderella in her ball dress looks like she came for kid's party (just have a look at her hairdo..). and this low neckline can't help the situation because of this too open breasted dress' ugly shape. i liked the bottom of the dress like pracrically all people here did and do but now it seems to me that the skirt only makes the whole dress heavier. as i have said, its shape is bad and makes her shoulders look broad. the first point. and so aand so on. it's too long to list. i watched beauty and the beast and compared it to cinderella. the first one is obviously better

specially the ball dress, it really took my soul in the first time I saw it GERGEOUS

ITS THE BEST MOVIE... AMONG TO BE RATED 1ST POSITION ITS WORTH.. GET A CHANCE WATCH IT... I HAVE WATCHED IT ALL THE MOVIE... BUT STARDUST AND ENCHANTED I HAVE REPEATIVELY WATCH IT AS CONCEPT IS FRESH AND NEW DIFFERENT FROM USUAL FAIRY TALES WE HAVE READ IN OUR CHILDHOOD.

I don't know why that is - somehow I never have managed to really enjoy Cinderella myself, even though when I take those 'which Disney princess are you' quizzes I always seem to match with her! Perhaps that is it - people would rather watch a character who is more extreme and different from them? Cinderella is kind and brave and thoughtful, and we should all want to be like her. But maybe that is just why we forget about her character, because we are trying to be her ourselves and so don't think about her character separately from our own character growth? Just an idea. Another thing, MUCH more shallow, when I was little Cinderella's hairstyle bugged me; I mean the one with the ball gown. I felt like Disney made her unrecognisable in the transformation from her cute peasant dress and handkerchief - of course that was just because I was a kid and couldn't pick up the similarities underneath, but as it was made for kids you would think Disney would have allowed for that. I just never was able to like her costume after that, and shallow as it is, that does determine how we rank the character, by her princess dress! And this doesn't excuse anybody else, but I was a history buff and I couldn't fit Cinderella's gown into any historical period so I didn't like it. (Belle's is of course also not historically accurate for her time period: but it IS fairly authentic to the mid-Victorian era ball gowns so I could at least connect it with something real that I could copy and research: didn't bother me at that young age that it was the WRONG time period as long as it was SOME time period. I can recognise which time period Cinderella's dress was meant to represent now that I'm an adult, even if it is a very cartoonized representation, so I like her better now than I ever did before.) However, thinking about it overall, I think this happens to most main characters: people find the supporting characters more memorable than the leads because they are funnier with more quote-able lines and catchy songs. I doubt many Sleeping Beauty fans like Aurora better than Fauna, Flora and Meriwether (did I spell her name right?), or Snow White more than the dwarves; and while Beauty and the Beast was my favourite Disney movie growing up, I loved Cogsworth and Lumiere and the Potts much more than I did Belle herself and the Beast/Prince. And I do musical theatre, and I tell you, it's discouraging how rarely the lead soprano gets a lively song or clever memorable lines: those are reserved for sidekicks and villains while she's stuck with soppy romantic slow tunes and plot-centric (and thus repetitive, as there are only seven real plots) acting. The one time I played the lead role, I milked every remotely humourous line or situation for all I was worth, because in all the productions I had seen my character came off wooden and uninteresting compared to the bright and lively secondary leads the audience could identify with. During the performance, every time I wrung a laugh from the audience I felt like doing a victory dance 😆. My princess costume wasn't so bad, either. Whew, I've really rambled on here! Thank you if you took the time to even read this to the end! 😁
