Your technique specific videos have more useful information than the Pro's channels. Perhaps you could do a video about soft plastic Swimbaits. How to rig hollow body, solid body, paddle tails, fluke style baits etc.. Alot of guys don't know (myself included) the intended application by thier design. Your video on drop shot baits was a real lesson.

ME: (thinking about Flipping Baits) THAT must be any 50+ $ bait that caused you to destroy your expensive Rod or Reel when you’re trying to get that bait undone when it is STUCK in a tree or big bush. ALSO ME: Learned a LOT listening to your explanation Ben. Baits, Line, Hooks, Rods and Technique specific information. Thanks for this episode Geoff and Ben

I’ve found the 7’11” very nice for what I do 90% of the time. Basically Im pitching without ever grabbing the bait. The extra length makes it easier to pendulum the bait out to my target and land it soft. Definitely not a broom stick. It’s the St. Croix LTB 7’11” HMF and it’s very soft.

I feel like so many people focus on rod sensitivity on pitching and flipping. It’s a relatively no feel technique cause most bites come on tee initial fall I think action and comfort in a rod comes first

So i feel like i'm a little different than most people because i dont have a boat yet i fish from the bank so i like a shorter rod to dodge trees and whatnot I use a 7'1" Phenix Feather Heavy Power Fast action rod for most if my heavy jig's and T-rig applications and i honestly use 17lb floro cause its what i had avaliable to me at the time, so because im a From the Bank Guy i feel like when i miss a fish or whatever it has to do with my shoulders not lined up to the fish or i swing to hard (im a smaller dude) or is it cause the rods not long enough?

Maybe I missed it but what size straight shank do you usually use for a 4.2 ri beaver? Also is the megabass bottle shrimp a good bait for flipping? And is a pretty long flouro leader ok for flipping wood or is it necessary to fully spool the reel with it? And is the levante braillist heavy enough for flipping? Maybe paired with a curado 70 because of the power? Or is it better to just go with a better reel like a metanium mgl?

I think the brailliest would be good for flipping a 3/8 ounce tr or jig 1/2 oz at the max but I wouldn’t use it if your fishing extreme cover and I would say for a reel I would use a curado dc 150 or a Bhantam or the k the 70 might be a tad small for flipping / pitching

@thehookuptackle_usa

I don’t snell it unless I’m using a big weight. More for punching for me. For normal weight (up to 5/8oz) I straight tie.

I have snapped 2 St. Croix 8’ mojo bass flipping rods setting a hook and it must go through the fish into wood!! I just couldn’t figure what happened! I started to think I should try a different rod! I just bought the 7’8” combat stick X-Heavy hoping I can use it for swimbaits and some flipping. I set the hook hard but man, snapped a St. Croix rod is very expensive!! 🤬😂

I understand your point but each type of hooks (SS or EWG) have a knot that help's for hook-set in jungle and there is more than hooks and rods in my opinion,line and boyancy of softbaits you use , but it is always just a science that fish don't care😆 😉

What’s your opinion on the owner twist lock hooks? I’ve been using them for dock skipping and pitching the last year. Saw they have a jungle option twist lock so bought a pack to try out. Seems to be a hybrid between straight shank and offset and my hookup ratio seems good on standard ones

When flipping and pitching more Clearwater lakes do you ever use a lighter line or does the cover help conceal the heavier line? I spend a lot of time fishing lake Mojave and I’m curious if it would impact line sensitive fish.

Sometimes they do get that picky. I’ve had to use 8lb and spinning rod on havasu before. It’s not fun, but us west coasters have to do what we have to do to get bit!
