@danient8734

@@pauldark3044 Great question! The thing about fights, is that you don't really know until they actually fight. I think it would be a very entertaining fight. Holmes fought (2 times) and beat a very hard puncher in E. Shavers. I think Holmes chin would hold up against a Foreman onslaught, he probably would be knocked down, just like in the E. Shavers fight, however I believe his superior jab, foot work and skill set would prove to be too much for 'Big George.' Foreman always fought flat-footed, he literally drug his back leg when he moved about the ring. I think he would be a stationary target 🎯 for L. Holmes to hit with that jab. I like Foreman, but I don't think he had enough to be L. Holmes. But hey, I'm not a boxing expert. Lol

@@thomashightower7881 True, I stand corrected. Actually Jersey Joe was the oldest heavyweight champion before Big George broke his record and by some margin. Also, love the commentators wondering if Cooney can survive this round, cause his got a minute and...ooooooh 😀 And great job by Joe Cortez, he knew that Gerry was out after that uppercut, and was trying to stop Foreman from landing that right hand, but George had to be sure, that Cooney was not getting up this time. Side note: in a post fight interview George called out Iron Mike, who was still undisputed champion at that time, saying that he will make even quicker job on him. And he destroyed Cooney in 2 rounds... 😀

He made the mistake of just wasting away his stamina throwing bombs against Ali and he reflected for 10 years and figured out that he could just fight more relaxed and make his shots count rather than throwing all your weight on them in a swarmer boxing style. Even being slightly overweight when he was older, he could fight for much longer in comparison to his first tenure. This time, he still had a granite chin and a lot more wisdom and experience behind him, he just had to make sure not to waste energy for nothing and connect his shots well.

Moore was well ahead on points but the round before the knockout was when George started landing some good rights. However he wants really putting everything into them. I recall George throwing a lazy jab and then throwing a right in which you could see his hip turn with the punch. Moore never knew what hit him.

@entertainmentworld4224
@entertainmentworld4224 10 ай бұрын
Only Ali maybe have better technic than George in boxing history Foreman can boxing different style he's a top out-fighter a top in-fighter lot of style for defense skills with very high precision with his punchs very fast puncher with combination he also the predator who change his position or yours every 10 second and open new target . He moves others like a heavy bag in training he manipulate u in the ring like a doll He had a perfect footwork He's the perfect fighter for HW. Better have 20% of foreman than 100% of technic of current fighters
@hatemfarouk4455
@hatemfarouk4455 10 ай бұрын
In my opinion Larry Holmes was more technical, and very powerful too, Michelle Spinks when he turned to the heavy weight class, he was very technical and owned the speed, but wasn't in that class of power and durablety. Foreman was great, but he wasn't so smart and he also didn't have much speed , any way he didn't need it . He had the most important advantage that made him one of the kings in the boxing history , he had a heart of a lion and a fist like titanium , plus he was the most muscular guy in that era, he had thick heavy muscles and a high bone density , its obvious that no one had this frame .
@entertainmentworld4224
@entertainmentworld4224 10 ай бұрын
Prime Holmes was a good copy of Ali thats true he had faster jabs than George but George still better for all others skills. Lewis and Klitchko have a very strong jabs similar to geroge they can finish others just with jabs Spinks was good too but here we talk about the great George with a very high level in boxing . people think that George was not smart because they think always about his fight with Ali. but for this fight george was so bad like a zombie face and only fake ropes dirty atmosphere in Zair and trashtalking make him angry and lost the fight and Ali knew about that and never want a rematch with him. about speed ,Fraizer is the most faster defense fighter ever he was the kind of guy who can move all 3min 12 rounds ,it was impossible to touch prime Fraizer when he moves and he was so dangerous in counter but George show to the world how to get that man , believe me u need to be so fast and so technic to touch Joe Fraizer. even Ali found lot of problems with him and start to use the George style in his second Fight with fraizer. certenlly big george lost speed and reflex but he invent some new skills like his bloc hands(defense skills). that man is a university in boxing world . i like when he took fighters with his two hands and turn them to other position or when he start with his push and punchs. i never saw a fighter in HW dominate others like George he did . 81 fights 68 ko he had the record and look like he never was in a ring with all kind of champions thats proove who was Foreman. others champions fought 40 max 50 and finish their life with mental or health problems . like u say he never get tired i remember him sometimes between rounds he never sit down he's f** machine ,he can be intense for 12 rounds even at 45y.o . for me is a steamroller with no step for back in the ring no matter who u are or ur boxing style he will dominate u and crash u.

It wasn't just his power. George was a much craftier fighter than people realize. He would set traps, feint, and do all sorts of things to dupe guys into moving a certain way, take certain levels of punishment to lull a fighter into doing the same thing over and over again, forcing them to duck when they didn't need to, or thinking they could walk into him. Then he'd have the hammer ready. How...the heck...did Sekorski stay up after eating at least 3 dozen, unblocked monster punches from Foreman?!

I'm so glad that fate conspired to give big George a redemption arc. Having been born in '75, I missed out on seeing all the hate that "Mean" George had accrued and I couldn't understand why all the older generations of fight fans were so strong in their dislike of him. All I knew was the big ol' "Teddy Bear" George, that I instantly liked. As I grew and learned of George's personal history, and how he conducted himself when he was a much angrier young man, I really got to appreciate just how far he had progressed as a human being. It says so much about his transformation that he eventually even won over all the older guys that I knew, who were just watching his comeback fights in the hopes of seeing him get his ass knocked off. Now that I am older than George was at the time of his second championship reign, I can truly appreciate what an astounding physical feat that it truly was. All hail King George!
