Dear Zippy's Brand Ambassador Chris: Can you ask someone at Zippy's to dig up the "spies" and "pies" commercial for Napoleon's bakery that aired in the 90's? This commercial lives rent-free in the minds of plenty locals who would love to see it again. Have them post it on their KZfaq! Turn the process into an episode about nostalgia for your channel! Everyone wins!

Royal Kitchen char siu bao all day long. Melts in the mouth. Kamehameha Bakery poi malasadas. Leonards old school but still one of the best. Mistuba those little pastries with sweet potato filling. Paa Laa Kai snow puffies. Women love these things. Nandings has the best Spanish rolls. Kaneohe Bakery used to have killer butter rolls.

Leonard's Bakery malasadas were my first thought. Second was manju, which I'm surprised you didn't mention, followed by Liliha Bakery Coco Puffs. Didn't think of manapua as a pastry, but it definitely came to my mind as a food that people bring to the office. Personally, I always preferred the lup cheong manapua, but I'll never refuse the traditional one (char siu pork filling). I definitely get what you're saying about needing a key to help you identify the flavor when there's an assortment. It just feels like too much work for something that should be one of life's simple pleasures. I was hard pressed to think of other pastries that I thought you might mention before watching the video, however, I have friends who are hard core about Napoleon's Napples. Haven't had the opportunity to try the mochizada or croissant bites, and it's been a long time since I had a poi donut, so I didn''t even think of that. Hmmm, I just realized this video should have been titled "Top 6 Hawaii Pastries to Share with the Office." Always too much of a good thing in Hawaii!🤙
@HelloFromHawaii
@HelloFromHawaii Ай бұрын
Great recommendations. I wasn't sure what a manapua would be considered. It's not a traditional donut, but it's really ono and it's baked/steamed. Napples are great, but usually I buy them as gifts for family and not the entire office.

Here's my picks...try them out...broke the mouth & ono good (tasty and great): Kamehameha Bakery - Poi Malasada Leonard's Bakery - Regular Malasada Time's Supermarket kiosk [Kamehameha Shopping Center] - Manapua Island Manapua - Pork Hash (got to have this if we're talking about eating manapua) Big Kahuna's Pizza - Garlic Cheese Balls Foodland's Bakery - Glazed Donuts ---If stuck in a desert, just give me my desserts---

@@HelloFromHawaii If you do want to try the Time's manapua, the kiosk open at 9:30 a.m. The manapua is made by a Chinese restaurant near Ala Moana @ around 7:00 a.m.; and then they bring it to that location. I like it because it doesn't have fat in the char siu; much like the ones I used to eat from Libby's and Char Hung Sut, before both of those establishment closed...sad. ENJOY!

@@HelloFromHawaii : As we get older and start dabbling in cooking/baking, it becomes easier when it's homemade, though lots of time. My mom's neighbor would make Xmas cookies with her young daughters. They made several different cookies, all in a big coffee can for the neighbors, friends, co-workers. Each made better than most store-bought cookies. They did it well into past her retirement age with her grown up daughters. Once you prefer that special 'item', the co-workers won't care if its not manapua, from Chris & family, they'll know it's from the heart. Trust me.
