Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Hello my name is Andrew, My family and I love powersports. Just something about the feel of freedom and power you get from a bike or ATV. On this channel you will find content for the Honda 300L as well as our journey we take together in the world of power sports.

The first thing to change is the seat.None of it matters unless you can stay on it for extended amounts of time.I got the thick seat on mine it has made made a huge difference.

Once again, videos like this make me glad to be a patreon! Keep-em coming. My Rally is loving it. You did share a photo of the SRC-moto luggage rack. For those that are thinking of doing a Yoshi exhaust, buyer beware - the SRC full rack system not compatible with a Yoshi exhaust. However, that tail plate is SUPER by itself and very versatile and long enough to add a Rotopax on the very back and use a collar storage system for waterproofing gear storage. Thanks again Andrew and crew! and I hope your bike comes in time for your trip.

Ahh ok, good to know you did your research on that rack. I have never used one so I had no idea.
@ericashwell1392

@@MotorcyclesOffroad Yeah I was on the fence about a panier rack but I think I've firmed my decision that this bike does not need any more weight added to the tail with all the rack-less soft options out there. I've decided that my 30L hiking backpack will go on the tail rack (or a duffel if I'm strictly on a BDR trip) and the Tusk Highland side bags (50L total capacity) will be more than enough for tools and moto-camping gear.

The Rally screen is excellent!!! The difference on the highway is just incredible.

Really? Hmm I didn't think it was tall enough to make a huge difference?
@gregjetnikoff7124
@gregjetnikoff7124 2 жыл бұрын
@@MotorcyclesOffroad I am 5'10 and could use a couple of inches extra. BUT the shape of the screen has more effect than the height alone. If you have ever ridden a Cagiva Raptor with it tiny wind divider you will know the difference . It was only just above centre handlebar height but you got almost no wind pressure up to 120kph. BTW there are a few higher /better shaped bolt on screens for the Rally already.

@@MotorcyclesOffroad My son and I were coming back to the campsite on highway after riding off road and we switched bikes. I am 6'1" and when I got off my Rally and on his KLX it was immediately evident how effective that screen is.

It's not so great , test it in cold weather and freeze lol .The so called fairing is worse .I will say neither causes buffeting which would be far worse , a clip on extender probably would work for the windscreen.

Thanks for the great video ! Just one question regarding the rear shock which one did you choose?
@stephtraveler7378
@stephtraveler7378 4 ай бұрын
Good content. One tip: Dont' cut corners on chain selection. The CRF uses a narrow chain, just like the 450 and most dirt bikes. The cheap x-ring chains are thicker and can contact the crank case. The narrow ones, like Procycle offer, are the best. Tunable suspension is key. KTech makes a front and back cartridge system that has adjustable preload, compression, and rebound.
@omnivore2220
@omnivore2220 Жыл бұрын
The Rally's windscreen is plenty, unless you're extra tall in the torso. I'm 5' 10" with average build, and it's fine. I wouldn't think of changing it. The only negative with the Rotopax is weight. The idea is awesome!, but that retention system they have is stupid heavy. It needs to be re-thought and made vastly lighter for such an application.

I don't know why IMS and Acerbis are sleeping on the CRF300L. Such a missed opportunity. The first company that makes a larger tank for these bikes will get rich overnight. Most of us don't want the rotopax or the camel back weight on the rear. The rest of us are forced to buy the "plastic-fantastic" Rally just for the tank and windscreen.
@Shrouded_reaper

Not to mention the camel tank is CRAZY expensive. Probably because it's only the real option...

Just want to add if youre on a budget the $100 Thai ECU still makes a big inprovement on helping the bike run cooler and giving you a little more power, especially if you have an exhaust. It's summer here in Texas and my right leg was burning up on the stock setup in traffic. Now it's no longer and issue and I can get the front wheel up in 2nd gear. Also agree about adding teeth in the rear. Going smaller with the sprocket in the front you are reducing its diameter and bringing the chain closer to the swingarm. Awesome video man. Keep up the good work.

Awesome video! Just a (probably dumb) question about the ECU.. how much the 550 ECU impacts on fuel consumption? I’d assume that if we extract more power from the bike we also would expect higher fuel consumption.. is this correct? Any impressions or opinions you could share on that matter? Thanks again for such good content. Cheers!

I went 87 stock improved and opened up the stock exhaust to try it. Worlds better on the throttle twitch and pulls way better low to mid. Pipe sounds way better, don’t want too loud myself. I’m only at the 400 mile mark mostly on Kentucky backroads, and I’m sitting at 76.7 for an average since new. Honestly gained a bit, first 200 was stock at 72. Great bike, definitely worth putting a few grand in to have an awesome machine.

I wish I was one of your riding buddies so I could try my 250 rally against your 300 & I wonder if a stock 300 is much faster than a 250 with ECU & exhaust... & also wonder if an average rider could tell the difference thru typical light of road riding. Imo I don't think an average person would really notice much of a difference between the KLX the CRF 250 300 dual sport 🏍️💨 I think they would just be out there having fun & be so close, probably more depends on who's riding the 🏍️💨 then the actual motorcycle itself... Just my opinion. Cuz we don't ride all crazy off road like you guys do my buddy & I mostly do Street riding thru the neighborhoods/city streets & just light trails 👍👍💯

Meh! Long distance mods and not mentioning the seat? Stock seat is narrow and poorly upholstered, hurts you butt on long trips. There are only two necessary upgrades for long trips. Aftermarket rear strut needed to be even rideable. Original is not only weak but also dangerously bouncy. Stock seat needs either replacement or take it to upholstery shop. All other mods are only good to have. Like sturdy hand guards to protect your levers from breaking every time you fall. Some rack to keep luggage attached in place. Real offroad tires if you are gonna encounter slippery mud. Sprocket size is more about where you go - flat lands or steep hills. Stock power is good enough unless you hit a highway.

I did a 500+ mile 4 day motorcycle camping trip on the stock seat. Yeah its hard but manageable. Now tho I upgraded it with a 200$ seats concepts foam which I stripped the stock seat pan and installed over top.
