I use Rotella in everything. Street bike, dirt bike, truck. Just be sure to use the appropriate weight.

The key with any oil you use in a bike with a wet clutch is the jaso spec. And of course the weight specified. The regular and semi synthetic are jaso spec, the full synthetic are not. Rotella is a cult favorite for older turbo Subaru engines as well.

Must have been an older spec or different weight I was looking at a few years ago. The point being just look for the spec and you're good. There are some different revisions to the standard but just match what your bike needs and what is on the oil.

just wanted to say yes Jaso is a must for wet clutches. unfortunately Rosella isn't available in all countries, but in the southern hemisphere we get called delo which is very similar diesel oil that is available in several weights and is Jaso rated. I have been using it for half my life in everything from motorcycles too 6cyl tractors.

Great tips, it reminds me of when we had our weekly barracks inspections in the Corps and we used Pledge to wipe down the showers. It hides water spots and deposits. A tip next time it is your turn doing house duties!

I use throttle body cleaner and put it on a paper towel then wipe it on the plastics then wipe it off with a paper towel and it gets it nice and clean

been missing my Hermit fix... great to see a video... I understand your wintering over. but thanks for the great video... now to see if one can even get film now days. and the big one down under is dynamo laundry detergent mixed 6-1 sprayed on the bike and left for how long it takes to make a cup of tea then wash off. just wanted to share.

Yeah, I actually wish I would have started with that XR250R instead of a DRZ or WR250R. I worried too much that I would grow out of a beginner bike and it would have cost me more in the long run. Reality is that I need a good beginner bike anyway when friends visit and it's a cheaper way to learn what you really want, plus there's a lot of stuff where I actually like riding the XR250R more anyway.

Hermit DaVlog i liked my 5150 kikker ascetically and I tried a dirt bike once in placer county, I feel off and it was funny site. Few years later now im in Alabama I want to save fuel, fuck around in dirt and be on the road and learn. I'm getting tired of always fucking with cars, I dont want to vlog really I just want to explore and find shortcuts since I'm in a rural area

Yep. I just cleaned one side of my bike with shout and one side with Simple Green and Shout won.

Your right in saying choose the correct viscosity for your climate (bike or vehicle) It's not the detergents that cause problems with your clutch its the "energy conserving" and "friction reducer" labeled oils that will cause a clutch to slip Try this when your wives are gone, grab two or three different brands of oil of the same viscosity and toss them in the fridge / freezer overnight - kinda gets you thinkin . . .

awww, you passed up the opportunity for a good joke. even though you later said those idiots are in the same place they don't count, you should have had CDS and eveRide step in frame to say it was a good idea to use that motor oil. :) I've run the synthetic 5w40 in my old VL800 cruiser. works fine. not sure if i'll do 5w40 in the dr650 or 15w40. still have less that 800 miles on it. sticking to "approved oil" for a short while. have a good day folks.

I use pledge furniture polish, lot less messy. I use the same oil in my bikes. I use WD40 and a scotch brite to polish the aluminum parts. I know you'll probably say you don't care what I use but I told you anyways. I would say it's good seeing a video from you but I know you'll get the big head so I'll just say I am only here to see CDS. Around here they sell the tin in bigger sheets so you don't have to have so many joints. Stay safe

Hahahaha ! ISO 200 is perfect ! If you go above ISO 400 there will be too much grain in it and it will ruin the seals ! Kodachrome was the best ( produced since 1935 ) , but if you located down south, you might want to stick with APX 100 film and just overexpose it.

I'm not riding the XR400R, I'm riding the XR250R. Tried to register the 400 today and it turns out it's already titled with someone who aint the guy who sold it to me. So there's gonna be some drama.

lifewithlurch - yep, there are still couple of places where you can buy film . Selection is rather limited. If you were shooting film, there should be some left on the bottom of your refrigerator.

No man, not 100 or 200 speed film...go for the gusto, get some Tri-X or HP-5 (B/W film of the 400 persuasion). OR, if you're reeeeeealy daring go all the way with Delta 3200 - hard to find, but worth it.

When strapping down a motorcycle (i.e., in the back of a truck to transport), it is meant to limit the travel stop the forks from compressing too far. I don't use one, but I strap my bikes down in moderation. :) If you strap the front down too tight (i.e., compress the forks far through their travel), you run the risk the increased pressure within the fork causing the oil to bypass the forks seals and leak.
