10:42 I found a shiny parasect in my leaf green's safari zone. This was my luckiest day of my life because I actually caught it!!! I knew that there was a massive chance of failure too (I already lost 4 previous non shiny parasect at the time), I thought my heart was going to stop!! It totally made me get over the horrible shiny graveler fail on my alpha sapphire

I've only encountered a few shinies in Pokemon games, and one of them was a ghost type. Normally I would use false swipe, but that wasn't going to work on a shuppet. I was ecstatic when the second ultra ball caught it at full health! :D It was also my very first random battle of the new year!

@Cryptzon ah well it's been years since I played that game but there's one NPC who will trade you a machop for some other Pokemon which is easily available, in some house You just gotta have the Pokemon they require, and the trade will give you a Pokemon of the same level as the one you traded

@Cryptzon okay now I remember You trade a drowzee for a machop, and it's in goldenrod city in the huge pokemart Talk to them all Atleast one of the NPCs will ask if you have a drowzee and will exchange that for machop

Or have a quick Pidgey that knows sand attack. I never struggled against Whitney at all because my strategy for gym leader or rival battles always was to start out lowering accuracy a couple of times. Was actually a surprise to learn that so many people had a hard time fighting against her because for me she always seemed like a huge pushover.

I remember that with Koffing in LeafGreen. The Master Ball's best use is for nonfixed shiny encounters that are hard to catch. Whether that's because of low catch rates or because of them having a chance of ending the battle on the 1st turn by means of SelfDestruct, Teleport, Explosion, etc.

11 years ago, I found my first shiny. It was a Quagsire in the Great Marsh. Obviously it ran away. To this day, any time I am reminded of it, I get pretty angry. I have been haunted by that memory for over half my life now. So obviously I am annoyed by the Safari Zone...

Things that annoy me in Pokemon 1. Long Tutorials 2. Wild encounters even if you have a repel but the wild Pokemon is higher level than you 3. NPC Trainers that turn around the second you past them 4. HMs (so glad that they got rid of them) 5. Whitney's Miltank.

3. A lot of people don't realize it yet that in gen 3 ( I think up to gen 6) NPC will always turn your way if you run and they are visible on the screen.

Usually when I play pokemon I don't care how happy they are with me.when I got ultra moon I was about to beat the elite four felt bad that I left me pokemon to rot in the box got them out beat the main and post game with them never let rotom be sad.My team is Metagross,Tyranitar,Decidueye,Primarina,Mudsdale,andTalonflame.I traded alot at the beginning.

Oh my god. What you said at 10:40 actually happened to me many years ago. I can't remember if it was diamond or if it was soul silver, because I played both of those back and forth. But I encountered a shiny kangaskhan in the safari zone and freaked out. And I decided to throw a pokeball and hope for the best. Well, it broke out and got away. I was so upset. First time I ever encountered a shiny. Also, coincidentally, as of the time I am typing this, I actually JUST NOW managed to breed for a shiny riolu in pokemon sword. So I finally just obtained my first shiny pokemon many years later. Funny how things like that happen.

When I recently replayed Crystal on 3DS VC I beat both of Whitney's Pokemon first try with a single Lv 16 Exeggcute by using Hypnosis, Leech Seed and Reflect. I was blown away by how easy the battle became, especially when I think back to how much of a struggle it was back in the day.

I have a big annoyance in pokemon oras, when you are trying to sneak up on a pokemon in the grass, but either a pokemon jumps you, or you accidentally flick the analog stick and it flees

Recently finished a Pokemon Emerald playthrough, and the most annoying thing there was Kyogre. It would spam Rest at the weirdest time, like first turn, or when I did a measly amount of damage. But then, when it is low on health and I'm trying to catch it, it starts spamming Double Edge and adopting the mindset of "I'm not going to let you kill me, I'll do it myself!", and dies because of recoil. It took me so long to catch it. And then, when I went after Groudon, I only needed one Ultra Ball....

How about Gen 1's limited item space. Every time you find a new item your bag is full. So you have to toss an item or use and item. Or fainting while poisoned out of battle while walking to a pokecenter. And Whitney's Miltank is easy if you use Sand Attack on it a bunch with Pidgey or Pegeotto then finish it with your starter.

They have fixed the Ultra Sun/Moon Rotom Dex though. I first played through almost the entire game without being able to look at the map at all because the Rotom was always talking, but then after I installed an update it suddenly became very quiet. And it also stayed that way during further playthroughs, only talking during certain moments of the game but never in between.

I always felt that the Bug Catching Contest was a good mini version of the Safari zone, and I like the choice the Bug catching contest gave you, because since you will always keep the bug pokemon you caught, if you want to get better rewards you are encouraged to find a scyther/pincer/butterfree/beedrill and catch it safari style, aka just throw pokeballs and get lucky. I remember even though it was something as weak as a caterpie, I was really excited I was able to catch it 'since I was playing Silver' ....You know what I also miss? finding a legendary Pokemon at the end of a out of the way 'dungeon',... I also miss the idea of the Mount Silver endgame 'route' where you encounter the strongest wild Pokemon and fight the strongest trainer that put's the elite four + champion to shame.

I like the Pokemon emerald safari zone. It's a little different from what he described. Different options when you're in the "battle". I think it's step closer and watch. I think they don't run unless you scare them either.

I really liked the DexNav system in the ORAS games, but my god it is annoying when you're surfing or in a cave and the pokemon run around you and you have to chase them with the risk of turning the analog just a little bit too fast and they're gone, and even worse when you know it's a pokemon you need. Ugh brings back bad memories!

I remember trying to get the roaming Pokémon. Least in diamond/pearl/platinum they gave you a watch setting to monitor them. Normally I lead with a wobbuffet with shadow tag when I’m hunting them.

The shiny in the safari zone happened to me once. I ran into a shiny Magmar on Soul Silver that got away when it fled I actually had to stop myself from throwing my DS across the room.

in gold/silver you could actually very easily get the roamers. all you had to do was run back and forth from lake of rage and the next area until it trapped itself in the lake of rage. you could literally catch all three of the legendary dogs in less than an hour

In my first playthrough of emerald i was hunting down latias. Back then, i didn't know the concept of roaming pokemon and always wondered why it ran away. So then i figured out i could probably just use a Wobuffet with shadow tag to trap it. However, my dumbass forgot that the only 'attacking' move Wobuffet has is mirror coat, so when latias used psychic and wobuffet retaliated with double damage, it killed the latias.

Crystal is the only game where you can duel with Suicune in a one on one battle before catching. But in all other cases, you have no choice but to use Haunter/Gengar to trap and hypnotize them to avoid the Roar or them fleeing. Back then, I didn't think Miltank's Rollout was a rock type move, hence the weakness of Quilava and Pidgeotto (Smokescreen and Sand-attack might help, not a guarantee though). Wrap is really annoying when you're already poisoned (so that's two problems to deal with). I definitely hate the Safari Zone. The catching method doesn't make sense, just leaves it to luck and they run as soon as you fail.

My ace when I played Red and Blue was a Victreebel with Wrap, Spore, and I think Vine Whip along with something else. Although it isn't super fast, I remembered it being overleveled, as it was my ace. All I know is that it *dominated* .

What I found annoying was when I first tried catching an Abra in Pokemon Diamond. The only move it has is Teleport meaning that if I can't catch it immediately it runs away and I have to hunt for another. Find Abra --> Try to weaken it --> It Teleports away. --> Run around --> Find another Abra --> The entire cycle continued. Then there was one time I encountered a wild Kadabra. I tried running from it because I didn't want to fight it but the "Can't Escape" message came up. Then the Kadabra used Teleport. The game literally stopped me from running from it so it could run from me.

honorable mention, not getting running shoes until after first badge, and still not allowed in doors. and not being allowed to have both bikes in hoen. i play gen 3 exclusively so obv that's which games im talking about. really drags the game out, in a bad way. i ripped my cart save so i could back it up and export it to an emulator just to use x4 and x16 speed (and maybe to abuse save states, don't hate)

I was training a Lv 57 Vaporeon for fighting Red in HeartGold. I had fought several Donphans who had survived Waterfall easily. I suddenly ran into a shiny one, but the waterfall crit so no shiny for me (full odds)
