Second time owning a Subaru. My first one was a 07 Impreza 2.5 Hawkeye. Kept that thing bone stock for 250k miles. Had a few cars after that were nowhere near as reliable. So I finally came back and got a 16 WRX. Your videos are extremely helpful! It’s good to have this knowledge and know where to start. @omialmanza1900
@omialmanza1900 7 ай бұрын
@@markdavidson-yw9yt yes, they are legal and not as loud as a full turboback/ catback exhaust system they make for a great upgrade. Any muffler shop can make them or you buy them. A broken or sawed off muffler doesn't sound the same as an axle back (muffer delete), and they're way cheaper.

Lol...for owners in Japan, beware. I took my brand-new WRX back to the dealer to have the off-center steering-wheel fixed (wheel alignment was out of whack from the factory) and got a call the next day to inform me the "illegal exhaust" (ETS Extreme Catback) means in future they're not allowed to do any work on the car other than recall stuff. Which means I have to put the OEM back on every time I need a service. Puh!
@Smeedia

What?! 💀 they do that in Japan? 😮

@@Smeedia Yeah, this country/govt is seriously up its own ass. He showed me the flow-chart they're issued by the regulator...if the exhaust is replaced but does have mufflers the dealer then has to check for approval stamps. Obviously, anything legal you might as well not waste the money because it'll sound as crap as the OEM.

Ive been on rce yellows with koni struts for about 50k miles handling is incredible drop perfect. Ps also did roll center adjustment and tie rods and ball joints which is a pia. I believe technically you need rear adjustable arms too to get perfect alignment . Just started noticing slight inner tire wear in front. If i installed adjustable top hats to get camber closer to stock it would probably be more $ then bc coilovers...if/when i do it again coilovers would probably be cheaper in long run bc you can adjust out all these issues

Just recently got a 2010 STI that the dealership is putting a new motor in due to their negligence. With the car being my daily when I get it back and not planning on doing any track days how imperative is it to do the windage tray and oil pickup?
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 7 ай бұрын
I wouldent say it's super needed if your using it as a Dailey. But it's definitely not a bad idea to add in. Tbh the dealer may add it on it you ask them and bring it to them
@dagancollins7854

@@Smeedia I honestly don't trust them to put the motor in let alone the tray and pickup but I didn't have any other option since the bearings getting fried was partially their fault. If it was a Subaru dealership then it would be fine but it's a chrysler 🤦‍♂️.

I'm in a '23 premium and it is semi-daily. Minimal rain if I can help it and no snow/salt/ sub 40F weather. It will be stored this winter. I'm saving for coilovers and I'm mostly set on fortune auto with swift springs mainly because I'm 46 and have a wife that already complains about the stock ride harshness. I'm not rich and the fortune setup is not cheap but im willing to do it if it satisfies my wants as well as her needs. If the ride is worse I don't want to hear about it every time we go for a drive. Should I stick to the plan or explore a cheaper option? I'm already semi-regretting the (not at all cheap) ETS extreme catback. It's loud AF especially at idle and those who say there's no drone are deaf. It sounds great but it attracts the wrong attention from neighbors. Maybe I should have done muffler version or just the axleback. The stealth black tips do look amazing on my magnetite. Thanks for all the great vids Tanner. Love this channel.

For a better ride comfort with a decent drop, I'd suggest doing a Strut & Spring combo. Coilovers in nature are typically always going to be more of a harsh ride. The Strut and spring combo will absorb a bit more of the road vibration & still Gove some of the benefits from coilovers. 🙏

The stock Subaru pitch stop mount is designed to sheer during a front end collision and allow the motor and gearbox to dip down and move under the car/passenger compartment. Although an aftermarket pitch stop mount will firm up the motor mounting and improving throttle response it also is very dangerous in a big front end collision as the motor and gearbox will push through the firewall and into the passenger compartment..... Just food for thought.
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 7 ай бұрын
Understandable. However I don't think a lot of people are worried too much about that. Tbh, in a front-end collision with an after-market pitch stop. The pitch stop would probably act the same way, except instead of the pitch stop snapping, the spot welds for the pitch stop bracket would probably sheer off
