This is just my underrated and maybe dumb opinion but I feel like Misa deserves an honorable mention because she’s technically the first person to deduce Light as kira and escape unseen by the police, even if it was with the help of the eye powers.

For those who don't understand how Near deduced X-Kira to be Mikami, the reason is because the anime doesn't do it justice. They rushed the scene and didn't elaborate on the explaining, but they do it in the manga and the deduction goes something like this: 1. After Demegawa died it took an entire week for Takada to announce being the new spokesperson to Kira. 2. Near deduced that this one week gap meant that there were no instructions from Light to X-Kira, and that's why X-Kira was waiting for Kira to contact him. Obviously Light, who Near thought was Kira, couldn't contact X-Kira because he was being watched by the task force. This means X-Kira must have chosen Takada on his own. 3. Then Near asked himself, why Takada of all people? She didn't have much experience and was not the 1st ranked in votes. 4. Near deduced that Takada was chosen because she admires Kira. However, she hadn't announced that she supported Kira. That means that X-Kira must have met Takada at some point and found out that she was Kira's admirer. 5. Near watched over all of Takada's interviews since she first became an announce and found Teru Mikami appearing together with her twice on different occasions. 6. Near Remembered seeing Mikami in Demegawas show Kira's Kingdom so he went back to it. 7. Mikami appeared in Kira's Kingdom 4 days after Demegawa died, and he spoke directly asking Kira to give him instructions, and saying without Kira's directions, he will have to speculate Kira's ideas and act accordingly. 8. 4 days after this appearance happened Takada was chosen as Kira's spokesperson. 9. Also, when in one of the interviews with Takada, Mikami talked about how crimes are increasing because young people are not using their capacities to contribute to society, which was very similar to what Takada said, on behalf of Kira, about killing people who don't use their talents for the good of society. Based on everything above Near deduced the following: Mikami is X-Kira. He killed Demegawa when he went overboard and waited for new instructions from Kira. After 4 days he sent a message to Kira via Television, asking for his instructions and declared that he would have to act on his own if he didn't recieve any. Mikami awaited instructions for 4 days, then he chose a new spokesperson for Kira - Takada, which he has met before on more than one occasions and presumably got a chance to talk with her and figured she was Kira's admirer. This is what a reply said that I found on reddit, the post asked how Near deduced who X-Kira was and I had the same question at the time. After reading I went to check out the manga and this happens in chapter 92. And sure enough that was indeed how Near figured out Mikami was X-Kira.

I have watched this anime 2years before but the the sounds and songs of this anime still gives its vibes 🔥

On Near deducing that Mikami is X-Kira I hear it was fleshed out more in the Manga but in the Anime it feels like he pulls the answer out of his ass. On Mello it's less smart and more... ruthless... L figuring out that there's a Second Kira is a good look at one of his strengths; figuring out a lot with very little; mostly on comparing the actions of the two Kiras to one another. Catching Higuchi was a case of excellent planning between L and Light with the rest of the task force manipulating him as well as cover for each basis they can. And the last one it's a case of noting a pattern and find more to support a growing theory.

I cant be the only one who just refuses to continue the death note anime once Near gets in, i just feel post L death, that death note kinda lowered in quality at least anime wise. Right?

I think the reason Near caught light before L did was L got too attached. He knew light was kira and coudln't prove it, I think collectively as a viewership we can agree on that. But L was smarter than near IMO Near just got lucky in that he didn't know light. He never spent time with him. Whereas L spent most of his moments fixated on light, working with light, working with his father. I personally think it was an attachment more than anything.

Actually there was a way in that L could win this. L figured out that Light might give up on his powers and İf this were the case then he would have planned that in someday his powers returns to himself (it is actually confirmed in the series). So when they catched higuchi L should have assumed that it is the optimal time that light gains his powers back so L could preapare something to deeply observe what Light would do at that time. Since light doesnt know he is kira he would have missed it and L could catch kira by recording that he is murdering higuchi with the note hiding in his watch. After that scene Light has already pulled L to a trap with no escape. L realized that but when he did he was already in the trap and he knew there is no way out, and it is already game over

Actually, Yagami Light has a lot chance to kill L, first he can use the president of USA name and write in notebook and command him to investigate who is L and try to give more information for Light, like the scenario that made by light to catch his stalker in the bus, to catch Raye Penber...does it make Sense? There's a lot chance to kill L... At To-Oh ceremony since L made the first move to tell his own name... Light can accept the agreement to Ryuk, about the Shinigami' s eyes to kill L... That's the best way to end death Note in short period of time....
