Ice Phantom Yeah but I don't think we should hold a grudge against people (especially an entire nation) based on what their ancestors did. Back when Mahathir was PM (1981-2003) Japan's PM paid a visit to all the southeast asian nations that Japan invaded and terrorised during WW2, visiting memorials and paying reparations to them. However when he visited Malaysia Mahathir told him to "quit apologising for something that happened 50 years ago" and that the two countries should move on from the past, Japan's PM just stayed quiet (he could neither agree nor disagree for political reasons).

It is our culture when you get tense or hectic at some point, any Malaysian next to you will tell you 'Rilexla Bro' means chill. I think for a Muslim we always taught that things happened for a reason (Takdir) and we have to know the lesson learned from it (iktibar) concept might came out as easy going nature to foreigners. I guess this way of living might rub off to other race. However, deep down inside we do feel the anxiety if things getting too slow or it turned out to be not as we anticipated.
@FalconWindblader
@FalconWindblader 5 жыл бұрын
This is further compounded by the fact that the two other major minority races--Chinese & Indians, ain't known for getting tense & uptight about shit in most situations (Hong Kong is the ONLY Chinese area that's truly truly uptight about everything). & there you have it, a country where people go about their business in relaxed manner.

@ op Of course, you are right. But I feel most of the time after we accept takdir and learned from it (iktibar) we do very little effort to make sure the same wont happen again or improve the situation/work. Japanese also has the same acceptance, they would say "shoganai na" to things that don't go their way, but they make improvements and steps after saying that. Sorry if I offend anybody, this is just my opinion.

Abou the laid back atmosphere, it's not about how Malaysians don't take anything seriously or anything. We're laid back bc patience is like an important thing for us.We think that being so strict about something is actually bad for your health so we tend to do things more slowly and at the same time,try to do things more efficiently.

"I feel like there are a lot of things that Japan should learn from Malaysian relaxing lifestyle" Meanwhile Mahathir the PM of Malaysia: "Malaysia should learn and follow the Japanese working culture" Yeah Malaysia's current PM admires Japan as a nation from its culture (especially the working culture) to its economy (to the point that he's trying so hard to get a national car company to work like Japan's car industry and is now proposing for yet another car company XD). I understand that Malaysians can be "too laid back" but as you've said on the other hand it can be too stressful and depressing which also isn't good. All things in moderation as they say.

Your English is so sugoides. I like your video a lot. You may now know that Malaysian also loves Japan. I,on the other hand, knows a bit about the stress in Japan. Yes it's because the discipline is the culture. I have a friend who works in a Japanese company so he sometimes talks to me. As for me that's the beauty of this world. For us Malaysian such as me I would love to go to Japan to see the cars, the malls, the food, Gundams, high tech gadget, the culture, the scenery...everything. And maybe for Japanese they want to go here because it has the Zen that they needed most. Peace of mind where you can enjoy reasonable/cheap local food, fruits, beaches, common accommodation, highlands, forest and of course escape from that stressful type of things. Jauh perjalanan, luas pemandangan.

Thank you Aki-san for saying it as it is (while still being polite) I have always wanted to know an honest Japanese opinion on Malaysian life/work style. I think we can say it all boils down to discipline. If you have good personal discipline, you wont make trouble for others like coming late for example. I think Japanese culture started from kindness, the kindness of not wanting to cause trouble to others, in order to not cause trouble you discipline yourself and that become the culture when everyone does it. In other words, putting others before yourself. And I adore / look up to this culture. But because of the industrialization, international competition, and chasing constant increasing profit and growth this pushes the Japanese discipline culture to extremes hence problems like depression happens. Here, while we still help others, we still don't have that discipline mentality, it's mostly putting ourselves first before others. That's why to cover(protect) our "good" image we lie like "I'm otw" etcetc. Enjoy your stay here Aki-san. Looking forward for more videos like this. Sorry for typing too long and if I offended anybody it's just my opinion.

You're hilarious! I never realised Malaysia was so laid-back! I suppose it must be in contrast to Japan, which sounds very stressful...

Malaysians are slow and laid back outside due to hot and humid climate. But they can be workaholic in the office. They use to work extra longer hours.

V eryTrue. That's why we enjoyed our Malaysian food because anything goes. You can just enjoy your durian mencankung or nasi lemak with fork spoon and nobody cares. Japan people are really traditionalist from what i understand. for eg we can eat sushi and drink japanese tea they way we want it here.. using hands or chopsticks or even fork , with or without sauce. If in Japan, everyone will stare at us. Must have SOP you know. We can enjoy ikan bakar sampai anak terlantar kat atas meja also nobody give a damn. Just my thought. Chill ya.

Malaysia actualy learned from Japan about work ethic..In 80's Malaysia promoted "looked to the east policy" into their goverment policy by chosing Japan as their role model..That is why Malaysia grown as industrial nation in 90's..Lot's of Japanese company invested in Malaysia and I used to worked in a Japanese factory named TDK..Malaysia does followed some Japan's work philosophy but they implimented it in Malaysian way..It because of the culture of Malaysian people that put in diplomacy as their main pillar,than followed by worked smart..That is why they looked quite relax..
Why Japanese People Wanna Live In Malaysia SO BADLY...
