People asking "Can your OC meet my OC" drives me insane because they're just trying to get free art out of the questions, there's also that one guy who asked to have me replace my main character with their OC 2 weeks after my comic came out only to get offended when I said no multiple times. No way, seriously? I'd never thought of when OC x OC scenarios can be a way to get free art of their characters on purpose. I guess you can only do it when you have somebody who is close to you (unless you made a blog about doing a fun scenario of your OC's interacting other OC'S) Personally if that happens, I like a character when they have written personality and not just plain OC without background.

Tbh as someone who does both digital and traditional, they should both be respected equally. Digital art and traditional art are both super cool and super complicated depending on how far along you get. Both take time and you need to learn many things to make your art turn out the way you want! I'm primarily traditional but I'd never say it deserves more respect because there's no undo button, same goes for digital because you need to learn how buttons work 💀 Both are really fun, both deserve respect. Nice video man

"Hey did you really draw that? Actually it doesn't matter, digital art isn't real art anyway. You need to start drawing more on paper. But with you art style, it'll end up bad anyway. @@philrei2797brother, I'm a programmer, sellf taught, I've gained all sorts of skills so far, been using Ps for like 8 years now, been doing digital art for about 5 and I'm just now barely getting the hang of things. All I can say is: never assume it should be easy, VERYYYY deliberate practice, separate concepts heavily. About that last one, you need to think and set up your tools for drawing one way, and think and set up your tools for coloring another way, which is different for if you're painting not just coloring. Also, use everything at your disposal. It's not cheating. Learn how the warp and skew transform tools work, learn about content-aware fill, use the smudge tool when you need it, learn what buttons to press to create a new custom brush, and MOST importantly learn what all of the settings in the f5 menu of the brush do. Also learn the difference between flow and opacity and what gaps or bald spots in your brush pattern do, and use clipping masks.

Digital vs traditional drawing. | wound up doing both. I sketch with a pencil, then scan it in to computer and use Krita for ink and coloring. I've seen people who are amazingly fast with digital, but it actually takes me longer than traditional. Digital is NOT easier, masking(which I do a LOT of during coloring) can be slowwww. Inking is also a bit slower, the plus side is infinite corrections. I guess the two big plusses for me with digital are infinite corrections and not having to fork over $$$$$$$ for a set of Copic markers. But easier? Nope.

I've been wanting to draw digitally for awhile now, and i can say after using a digital canvas for the first time that yes, it is harder than drawing on paper. The struggle comes with how sensitive it is to use and how smooth it is. On paper you can feel the drawing which really helps out, digitally, however, it's like driving on ice. It's really weird and takes some getting used to, i can't believe there are people that actually think it is easier.

I am one exception in which I actually don't mind drawing people. I actually like making caricatures and treat it as practice. However, another reason I don't mind is because I'm not asked constantly when I'm drawing. Of course... I'm usually ignored by most of my peers anyway, so I usually (depending on the person) am appreciative of the request and treat it as a compliment. However, it greatly bothers me that anyone would assume that all artists would want to draw them as such, as I am most certainly of minority in this particular issue. The important thing is the respect the artist regardless of whether they are willing to draw you or anything you request.

Cool vid, one critique tho. Here on 8:57 you said that drawing on tablet is much harder. Nope it's not, and I am a digital artist myself. You cant zoom in and out, you can't select stuff and move around, cant erase without damaging the paper, can't experiment with already applied colors, have no layers you can remove or change, and traditional art in general is very stingy, when it comes to mistakes. You can do a million mistakes in digital, fix them all up and get a good result, but when you make a bit few too much mistakes on paper - you can't fix them all without sacrificing something. And about brushes - doesn't the same applies to real life, where you have dozen of brushes, markers, pencils in different variations, sizes, paint colors, different paper types, eraser types and all of that? Both digital and traditional art have their own learning curves, but latter is much more unforgiving. And digital art IS art, but its NOT harder than traditional, it's just different.
@tinyshinyfeathers
@tinyshinyfeathers 2 ай бұрын
Whether you find digital or traditional more difficult really depends on what you're used to. Personally, I find digital art much more painstaking because I lose so much accuracy drawing on a screen instead of paper. It doesn't matter that my mistakes are "easier" to fix when I'm making so many that I'm constantly correcting them. The only parts of digital art that are actually more advantageous for me are adding lighting over flat colors and saving multiple versions of the same drawing without having to make copies first. …Also, if you damage the paper every time you erase, you may be using too much pressure when you draw/erase, or you might need a softer eraser and/or smoother or sturdier paper.

Number 6: artists who think what you do is easy just because it's technically speaking simple (anime) Also about your last point, one time a trad artist said to me that digital can't even be compared to physical and I just walked out of the room and waited until I calmed down and the subject had changed.

Honestly every time I post a fanart on Reddit there's gonna be that one prick that has nothing nice to say and has to nitpick something. "Why do their lips look like mustaches?" "What happened to Dante's hands?" Are two real comments I got. Like bro I don't care I draw how I want. I have stopped posting art on Reddit because there's too many annoying pricks. Then I used to have an artwork I did as my profile picture and some idiot was like "if you're a guy why do you have a girl pfp?" Me: "I drew it" idiot: "you should have a pfp of a guy" me: "you're not my dad" I honestly just say something that translates to "I don't care mate" every time some idiot tries to get me riled up.

i think the main thing that stop people from atcutally to post their art is just the communtiy behind it, because i heard that whatever you do it has to be as good as you can get it to be. which is also why i don't post art on any other platform other than youtube, and then there is the unsolisited critice. and so on. just its one of the worst things basically for artists.

Demanding free art is definitely my pet peeve... I never minded anyone asking if I do requests, but if they get an attitude with me, I wont even draw a dot for em :/ My mom was one of those that believes that digital art is easy. I educated her sorry butt on that I'll tell you what. So she gets it...somewhat x.x; She still doesnt understand how price value works when it comes to digital art as well. I started drawing when I was really young and my skills are pretty much self taught. So I grew up doing traditional arts. Then I tried out digital art for the first time and oh yea I can feel a HUGE difference. It almost feels similar to learning to type without looking at your keyboard and fingers. Sure you have the basic skills of drawing, but its still quite a different level when drawing on a tablet. It's a LOT trickier. But with practice, overtime you'll get the hang of it.

That first one is also a major problem for writers. Made worse by the fact that a lot of writers seem to have been conditioned into just accepting this as normal, thinking criticism is the only form of feedback that matters. This one time I showed a partial plot outline to a complete beginner and this guy actually seemed to be trying hard to find any mistake he could point out and advise me on. All the while I'm sitting there all like: "Dude, I have been doing this for decades now. You're not telling me anything I haven't heard before." It wasn't even him having opinions on the story concept or plot structure, which I would have accepted and maybe even appreciated seeing as that's the sort of feedback you'd expect for an outline. He was going for baseline technical stuff like: "This part kinda sounds like exposition. You shouldn't use exposition." Gah. For you drawing people, this is like me trying to advice AJ up there on how to color his art because I recently learned what complimentary colors are. He would rightfully think I'm delusional, like I have the artistic equivalent of a Napoleon complex or something. Sure, constructive criticism can be very useful but it's not the be-all-end-all of learning how to art that people make it out to be. You don't have to bend yourself over backwards to find flaws in every single work you come across. Sometimes a bit of ordinary appreciation and encouragement is just as important. In fact, I'd argue that for beginners, encouragement is _more_ important than criticism. There's a limit to how fast most people can learn a creative skill and simply _not giving up_ is going to matter more than how quickly you improve. One thing I find _especially_ annoying is when people criticize a creative decision you made for completely arbitrary reasons. As in, not because whatever you did was a bad call within the context of your story specifically, but rather because they've been told that doing that particular thing is always bad writing, just inherently. There's this disturbing tendency where everyone seems to think they can learn everything they need to know about writing fiction by following simple instructions without having to really understand how any of it works in practice. And I'm sure this happens in other artistic fields as well, but in writing it's completely goddamned rampant. Like, yes, I know that this is considered a cliché, or that this character has a lot of common Mary Sue traits, or that this is _technically_ a Deus Ex Machina or whatever. But consider the possibility that I know what I'm doing and did that shit _on purpose_ because I have a plan and there's a point to it all. It's fine if you dislike my writing but at least evaluate it on its own merits, rather than checking some list of do's and don'ts so you won't have to think for yourself. This one critic basically dismissed my whole story because he felt the ending constituted a major writing _faux pas,_ even though it was an absolutely critical part of the entire thematic statement. I could not have changed that part without undermining the whole message I was trying to communicate, it wouldn't have made any sense, and I tried to explain that but he wouldn't listen. All he cared about was that I'd broken an arbitrary rule and that made the story bad by default. Bullshit like this drives me nuts because all it does is unnecessarily constrain and cripple the creativity of talented people who're just trying to figure out how to get better at doing something they love.

YES, traditional art is as valid as digital art, which is as valid as AI art, ALL si ART the tools doesnt take or give artistic expression or artistic appreciation AI art is the evolution of the tools used in digital art, which is the evolution of the tools used in traditional arts all tools, all only really drawn to its shine by capable hands

I can relate so much to the last one. I recently had a discussion with AI "artists" and they unironically tried to use the whole digital art isn't actually art as a rebuttal. Their logic was basically they were throwing my logic back at me when I said they put 0 effort into the image because they just type in a prompt. So their big own was to say I do digital art so I shouldn't be talking. I laughed so hard. My drawing aren't amazing (my current PFP I made in 2020) but even I can pull up the original file and show people the process. I had people say this in 2018 but in 2024 coming from AI artists of all people is on another level of stupid LMAO
