On the French placement, the placement is around the soft palate b/c of the R sound and all the nasal vowels (EN, ON) but consonants are strong with a lot of lip movements going forward. But I wouldn't say the French placement is around the lips b/c of the nasality. Also a lot of sounds are produced in the throat too.

@@SanDiegoVoiceandAccent Sometimes I make the distinction between a horizontal way of speaking vs a vertical way. Sounds a bit exagerated but French freels very horizontal in the movement and how the air flows, vs American English which seems more vertical. Even when you look at how French vs Americans move, a French head tends to move forward vs an American one that stays pretty stable and isn't as animated.

I’m Elaine from China. I have been trying to find my placement. I found my voice is very low in volume and sounds husky when I relax and say something through my vocal cords. I am not sure if it Is my placement. How can I make my voice louder?

Hi Elaine - Thanks for your comment! These exercises should also help your voice to be perceived as being louder and clearer (less "husky") but without any extra effort. You shouldn't squeeze your throat in order to produce a "louder" voice - you should do the opposite. Relax the throat and use more airflow, and complete these exercises to strengthen your vocal system. I hope this helps! :)

Hi Pezhman - Thanks for your comment! The livestream did happen on time, so I'm not sure what happened on your end (?)
