House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal for HBO. It is a prequel to the television series Game of Thrones and is based on Martin's 2018 novel Fire & Blood. Set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the "Dance of the Dragons", and the war itself. The main contenders are Houses Targaryen, Hightower, Stark, Baratheon, Arryn and Velaryon.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Based on the fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a civil conflict among several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the attempts to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty; the third chronicles the rising threat of the impending winter, the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North.

Not gonna lie. I was not worried about Helena until I watched Glidus gush over her and identify with her neurodivergence. It was sweet. Definitely made me think about the character differently.

NO ....NO.....Rhaenyra's heraldry is quartered with her mother's Arryn heraldry!....and as you say 'd even settle for "quartered" with Velaryon just to give both factions a unique sigil

I always thought Rhaenyra's personal sigil is about her bloodline. Top quarters are her parents, bottom quarters are her children. That's how she views herself as a 'whole'. She had Velaryon kids and Targaryen kids, that's why there are 2 Targ Quarters, they symbolize different things. I don't think it has anything to do with allies during war.

In regards to Luke's death, i think one should keep in mind that the last people that saw him, except aemond, were the storm's end gurdsmen who stood guard outside and watched him getting followed by aemond who probably expressed clear murderous intent, followed by flashes of bright fire illuminating the stormy night and dragon roars. Indicating a dragon battle and considering there were just two dragons it is not rocket science for the gurds once the fire and roars stopped to figure out that Luke and his dragon are toastif they picked a fight with granny vhagar.

you don't get how heraldic sigils work It''s not about who supports Rhaenyra, it's about House Representation. The top of the quatered sigil is her, the queen, Targaryen on father's side and Arryn on her mother's. members of Royal family don't change their name after marriage and have full house representation, hence Aemma ARRYN. Second line is her official heir Jacaerys. He's Targaryen and velaryon. But I get how the average casual viewer would be confused

6:02 - Or Addam of Hull negotiating with Rhaenyra. It would make some sense for the writers to want Rhaenyra to contribute to the war by persuading Addam to join them. And maybe these negotiations could be tense and partially explain why Rhaenyra never fully trusts Addam and therefore help to set-up what happens... later.

I would be really interested to see the potential consequences of Addam of Hull being able to ride Seasmoke. Maybe Laenor is actually dead and that’s why he’s able to but Rhaenyra doesn’t know that and thinks multiple dragon riders on a single dragon is actually ok. (It really doesn’t seem like the Targs communicate these rules even to each other because it ruins their air of untouchability and godliness.) [spoiler for show only people] That could even be connected to Joffrey’s death trying to ride Syrax later on! She loses her final bastard by letting him try to ride her own dragon to escape, cementing the idea that she seals her own fate in this war by “misreading signs.” (white hart, for example)

I know there are a couple of different variations of the story, but I’m almost positive that in Fire and Blood, Rhaenyra doesn’t let Joff ride Syrax. He just does it anyway.

Correction it was Joffrey and his dragon that was sent to the vale Rhaena was sent with him but she didn’t have a dragon during the dance.Baela was on dragonstone and then went back and forth between dragonstone and Driftmark

If Carmine is right about the riots, that would make more sense as to why the people of KL erupted and went nuts. I still think they should have had Rhaenys have blonde hair with black streaks, and had Rhaenerya's kids have black hair with blonde streaks. They could have even made Baela or the other sister have something similar. That would have really made the paternity of those Strong boys in question.

8:20 I'm amazed at the hate any mention of Jace being Cole's biological son gets on the subreddits. They claim it's impossible cause we only saw Rhaenyra and Criston have sex and not watch her drink the moon tea so obviously she physically could not have gotten pregnant.

My theory for the Laenor situation is that Laenor would return after hearing about Rhaenys dead only to die at the Gullet with Adam who would be with the fleet taking the Dragon during the battle.

Why would we even want a show where things like Laenor being gay is still up in the air? Thats the advantage to a show over a history book. And glad they don’t try to be mysterious about everything. I WANT to know what actually happened, that’s the fun of it!

Dragon seed who claims Seasmoke, Laenors dragon. His Mom says he's Laenors bastard but he's probably Corlys' bastard. Corlys immediately names them heir to driftmark and Jace convinces Rhaenyra to let it stand. He dies in the war and his brother Alyn becomes heir to Driftmark

Because A) the Blackfyres won't exist for several more decades, and B) Daemon Blackfyre using the sigil of Rhaenyra is going to have major political ramifications (especially when most of his support came from the Reach/former Aegon II supporters). Think of the political connotations of a US Presidential candidate openly using the Confederate Flag.

@@ksolesky2 You know, I kinda forgot that the Blacks with their Daemon are supported by the completely opposite violent entitled pointless rich assholes as Daemon Blackfyre. I guess I just kinda figured that they have similar enough names and blonde dudes with swords that they were the same behind the scenes. And I now think George might have done that on purpose to make a point or something. But then themes are for third grade book reports, so who knows. ;) (Real Talk: Bad example with the Confederate Battle Flag both considering how many states and politicians have run with that thing over the years, and also because the Confederacy is the WAY more unambiguously evil team between the two main teams in USA's Civil War. Martin, meanwhile, desperately wants everyone to see all the teams in the wars of his stories as equally-ish in terms of how shitty they are.)

Is there any chance Preston can at least sound hopeful even excited 🤷‍♂️ for what’s ahead instead of being the usual droning downer that he always is??? It’s like relistening to “cast of thrones pod” early days of GoT and every second sentence includes “in the book”… get over yourself PJ, GRRM is involved, its not your world! If you’re disinterested as most of what you say is generally negative, why bother commenting?

*spoilers* I get that Rook’s Rest happens quite early in the war, but taking Aegon out of action in the middle of season 2 seems odd. Maybe they’ll give him more to do after the battle, or maybe they will just transfer all focus on Aemond.
