In St. Albert there is no bad area. It just depends what's area is more in your budget and if the home fits your needs. You want a larger yard buy older....

Forest Lawn is so beautiful! I LOVE those big trees in the summer time. They create that gorgeous green arch over the roads.

I was told by quite a few people that Akinsdale is the armpit of St.Albert. Not sure why. I think the median year most of those homes were built was 1976. There are apartments and townhomes there that are fairly affordable. I also don’t hear good things about Grandin but again, it was established in 1959, and I love the character in those older homes and I love the history of that neighbourhood. Again, apartments and townhomes like Grandin Village that are also fairly affordable. I agree with your favourite neighbourhood Lacombe Park, the old one (1974 median age) I would move there in a heartbeat 💓 if I could afford it!

I wouldn't listen to the people who talk bad about Akinsdale or Grandin. Both are absolutely great options for people looking to buy affordable homes in St. Albert, they are safe, and the yards are generously sized. I would 100% live in either one myself.

Grandin is beautiful. My street has trees everywhere, middle class homes, & is in great proximity to the plazas/shopping. If you're looking for modern, bougee houses, then you may disagree.

I don’t agree with either of your neighbourhood comments. There are no bad or shoddy areas in St Albert. The older neighborhoods offer beautiful trees, neighbours who know each other, and great community.

@@SherridanGelmici I didn’t say they were MY OPINIONS I just simply said what I was told by some of the people where I work at. My coworker,a single mom told me she and her 14 year old daughter were moving to Deer ridge from Akinsdale and said, “oh mommy I’m so glad we are finally moving out of the poor side of town.” I said I never knew there were poor areas in St.Albert. Evan even said don’t listen to anyone saying anything bad about those older areas of St.Albert. I would move to any of those older neighbourhoods in a heartbeat if I could afford to live in St.Albert. It’s probably someone in oakmont or kingswood saying bad things about Akinsdale or grandin. Have a nice day.

Can you discuss winter in St. Albert compared to Edmonton and Calgary?
@Evan_Cochlin
@Evan_Cochlin Ай бұрын
Winter in St. Albert is identical to Edmonton because they are so close together. Calgary is also very similar however it usually doesn't get quite as cold because its farther south.

St. Albert clears residential roads - no build up of snow. Edmonton is horrendous for this.

It's about 1.1% of your tax assessed home value, so if your home is tax assessed at $500K then property taxes will be approx. 5500
