Atom's judgement from far harbor is one of my favorite weapons in the game, I definitely think it should have been included.

I personally use the Grognak's Axe with the Grognak's Costume, found at the top of Hubris Comics for my Berserk character. Note the hidden habilily of the axe that costs 40% less AP while in V.A.T.S, and the costume grants +2 STR and more melee dmg, so quite a nice way to do lots of damage i think.

the super Sledge known as "Atoms Judgement" from the far harbor DLC actually has the highest damage for a melee in the game, with the same damage as a base Super Sledge and 400 radiation damage to top it off, leading to a devastating result. (as long as it isn't immune to radiation.)

What I would like to see in the next Fallout game: 1. dual wielding. I know it wouldn't be as realistic or plausible, but basically take what Skyrim did to melee, but apply it to some guns, also. I mean it should at least apply to fisticuffs. 2. When you go up in "iron fist", it should make your punch speed faster, also. 3. The defense rating of whatever armor you're wearing on your arms should affect your h2h speed. 4. VATS should let you target individual body parts for melee and fist dmg, if not provide a few more opportunities. 5. More diverse enemies and mutated wildlife. Although seeing a new variation of Yao Gai and giant ants is cool, it would be nice to see a more diverse mutated wildlife ecosystem. America had plenty of spiders, I'm sure they would mutate. Bring back some of those odd lizard gecko and praying mantis enemies from Vegas, but make some of them the size of a horse. I'm sure some snake enemies would be neat, as well as more flying enemies like types of birds, as well as animals endemic to America (Rats, pigeons, turkeys, Racoons,alligator-snapping-turtles, badgers, all sorts of farm animals, pets, and lab animals, wolves, cougars). I'm sure mutated porcupines would pose an interesting threat. And there could always be more experiments besides Deathclaws. I mean, the Deathclaws in each game look and act different, so just use those models and formulas for different variations of the same enemy. Perhaps the mutated Porcupines could be called Pukwudgies based off of Native American mythology, and Cougars could mutate into these powerful mutants with 6 limbs and be a bitch to fight, and be called the Wampus. There's also an opportunity to made more different versions of enemies. I mean the Yao Gai look scarier in Fallout 3 than in 4. Maybe different models from different games could be used to spice up diversity. Also, I think Owls being like drones for aliens would be scary to fight. Also, there could be a DLC based on the Demonic Alien Lizard people running congress that would be fun and challenging to take on. Oh yeah, and American Urban Legends like Big foot and Jersey Devil, although given a more plausible "created by radiation/genetically eengineered" background story.

For me, the most powerful melee weapon I use is Atom's Judgement. Unique variant of the Super Sledge for the Far Harbor DLC that does an additional 100 points of radiation damage. With my build, it deals over 400 radiation, 30 something electrical thanks to stun pack, and base damage over 150. It's my hardest hitting melee and it's best used while in Power Armor for that bonus strength and third person swing speed.

One of the most fun things to do with the ripper is to run down enemies with pain train in your power armor and then grind them to mush while they are still flying in the air or trying to pick themselves up off the ground. It's a very fun tactic in survival especially against humans and hordes of ghouls

If anyone is interested, the strongest glitch melee weapon is a Super Sledge with the new Sledgehamer mod. It weighs 73 pounds but deals 1-2k damage depending on your character/buffs.

A shitty fucking ripper is on the list and still no Atom's Judgement, which lets you hit for like 1000+ damage even without nuclear physicist. I was shocked to see a sledge on the list too and not even giving mention to AJ

The sacrificial blade that comes from the pit of the rock quarry is the best fast attack melee weapon. It has high damage with bleed and works well with the sneak perk.

Pickmans Blade is spectacular. Fast weapon and the bleed modifier can stack.

Pretty sure he harvester is the best melee weapon since enemies literally cannot attack you once they are staggered.

Grognak's axe is pretty strong

I sometimes use the Rockwell Slugger early on, but Throatslicer and the Harvester invariably become my only melee weapons when I do a melee build. Lack of armor penetration is not much of a problem when you hit for 10x sneak attack damage and have a paper damage over 450, which my melee character with 12 base strength and Grognak's Armor has.

Chinese officer sword my favorite. I have one with Instigating legendary effect - with ninja perk it deals x20 dmg, rare enemy can survive this. As my character is not quite melee specialist and i dont like rush attack, i use it to eliminate weak enemies only, but still it saves a lot of ammo for me.

personally I used the rockville slugger with Blitz for a long time the vendor also sells baseball bats with upgrades that you can buy to improve the rockville slugger so you do not have to invest perks to upgrade the weapon much later i received Atom's Judgement

The fish catcher from Far Harbor is pretty strong, surprised it wasn't on the list

My favorite melee setup, pre-DLC, is a bunch of VATS enhanced armor paired with Blitz and the Rockville Slugger with full mods (aluminum, bladed). It's pretty OP considering it had some of the highest base damage and you can hit upwards of 15 times per VATS use with the right armor and perks.

I don't think I can fully agree with this list, but I think it is well formatted and well presented.

i always thought that battle axe in the comic shop was the best mostly because you can kill certain friendly characters (random bos character, minutement, synths. except railroad) and no one attacks you, for me the game didnt count the murder as a kill

Most of those items shown are mostly good when not using vats, but from experience, melee vats builds are far superior compared to non-vats.

I think the Kremvh’s Tooth weapon should be on the leader board. It is good damage and it has bleed and poison damage and it works with power armor. It is hard to get but I use the cheat terminal mod so I get it right away and it is a really good weapon that would be my number 1 but could make a 5-2 on your list

Attack speed can make a big difference, especially if the enemy is blocking a lot. I think the Throatslicer should be number 2 because of this.

Boi I don't need no sword of wonders. I was lucky enough to find a Chinese Officer Sword in the wild from a legendary enemy, and keep up the good work!

My favorite is the disciple's cutlass. It cuts through everything i've seen like paper, and I even use the thing to hunt Deathclaws

I got a instigating deathclaw gauntlet. pretty insane. I still think it's stupid to put those restrictions on unarmed when they are basically just mele weapons.

The rocket sledge from the children of atom is pretty op to tho.

There is also a guaranteed instigating disciples cutlass if you complete Nuka World without the disciples betraying you. And furious baseball bat from Mason if he doesn't betray you.

I hope he realises how OP the instigating Disciples Blade that you get from Nisha is.

dont forget the Atom's Judgement from Far Harbor. with maxed nuclear physicist and big leaguer perks, you can take out most enemies in a single swing especially with the stun pack upgrade

Wow, this game is more complicated than I thought. I just carry Kremvh’s Tooth and Pickman’s Blade with me. Any suggestions one what I should change? (I also carry The Last Minute, Spray n’ Pray, and Wastelander’s Friend as a sidearm for ranged weapons)

Thanks for the list. Just a note - for peope who use vats, the bats and slower weapons are amazing (or even OP if you use vats and blitz). However, if you don't use vats, you are really going to want to go with one of the faster weapons, especially in survival.

I love the General Chao's Sword. It was my first unique weapon and I still use it in my main lineup.

I'd like to point out: What if you take off the arm(s) on your power armor and then try using the power fist you get from swan.

I'll always use the Deathclaw gauntlet, always has been my favorite.

The ashmaker with the shredder is pretty awesome!

(7) Pipewrench? Really? You wasted a spot on THAT? The Machette is much better, because you can take the Sacrificial Blade from Krummy's Tooth and put it on any other legendary that you find - staking the wounding and bleeding on top of whatever effect you have on the base. (6) COS? Good choice. (5) Unarmed weapons are not comparable. Different weapon perks, far fewer choices, no Power Armor, and Ninja treats them like any other non-melee weapon. Furious Fist is great with good armor penetration (don't go heated). The Meat Hook is also good, and there is a Relentless one to buy. Still, a character is likely either Unarmed or Melee, not both, even if they both benefit from Strength. Also, PA is terrible with Melee and Unarmed builds, as it fixes your ST rather low, since a good gear set up and Strength focus should have 18+ Strength. Many gear builds can get it into the 30's (not including chems or booze). PA is for low Strength builds. A high CH and IN build using Commando, for example, thrives on PA to replace Strength and Endurance. (4) You forgot to mention the Instigating Disciple's Blade you get from Nisha when you side with the Disciples in Nuka World. Wounding is nice because it is true damage (ignores all resistance) and stacks. Instigating is much better, however, because with a high strength build, the Scav! magazines that improve knives and improves Strength if you spend all your caps (super easy outside of survival just by buying up all the ammo and using ammo as your currency) - you will be able to one shot almost anything with the opening Instigating cut (and literally everything with a sneak attack at x10). (3) Rippers are great. You undersell the Staggering one from Far Harbor - as against lone enemies it is an auto-kill, since the enemy never gets to act. Bleeding and Furious versions are also awesome. (2) You can't Rocket Bat the 2079 Bat - it does not take mods. Of the other ones, Rockville and Cito's are both good with VATS builds (Cito's requires a Luck build as well). You can literally play the entire game with Rockville once you get to Diamond City. (1) The Sledge doesn't add that much to the Bat, though if you can find an Instigating one you could wreck face. You do not want Furious or Wounding on something so slow, however. Mighty for a flat increase in damage or VATS enhanced for more unblockable auto hits would also be better.

The Furious Power Fist, better known as the Sinister Mister Fister.

Atom Judgement is the only melee weapon suitable for stealth type character. Normally a stealth built only have maximum 3 strength, so all melee weapons are almost useless. That is unfortunate because stealth players usually have 10-14 Agility which make them move very fast and also have access to Blitz perk. However the Atom Judgement changes the rule because its damage is radiation, which means Strength doesn't matter. With Atom Judgement + 10 Agility + Blitz perk, the player can wipe out the entire room of of 3-5 enemies in a single VATS action. Blitz perk is really wicked, which allows you to teleport to multiple enemies positions and hit all of them on the head in a single VATS action. Since you keep teleporting here and there across the room, you almost never got hit by enemy bullets. Adding the Grim reaper perk, you will never run out of Action points. It is possible to clean a room of 5-10 enemies with a few connecting VATS action.

I like to use my Serrated Quickdraw Combat Knife because of it's low AP cost in VATS and the reasonable damage (including the bleeding effect of serrated) of 30. And it has a fast attack speed which makes it good against feral ghouls. Although it doesn't have that many customization/modding options, it is still good to use.

Atom's Judgement is clearly a winner in the top 3. When maxed out on strength and perks, your damage (without gear adding and only having 11 str) will grant you over 1k dmg per swing. That radiation damage occurs PRIOR to the ballistic damage. The ballistic damage is so high that it already takes out most radiation immune enemies as is.

I guess this is just because of my play style, but I think the disciples blade is still easily the best melee weapon. Maybe not if you just walk up to an enemy and start waking them, but any sensible melee build will take advantage of the blitz perk, and I think the knifes low AP cost combined with it's insanely high damage makes it OP. Like I said, this may be because my build is built around stealth melee/sniping, but in a single use of vats (I can get about 10 hits off with the knife with full AP) and if they're all sneak attack criticals (ninja perk makes it do 10x damage) and I have 3 chameleon armor pieces, so if I stand still Im very hard to detect, and I get a bonus from blitz, and I get a static 50% survival mode damage boost. So if my knife does 200 dmg on average (adrenaline level fluctuates that number) And I get all of these bonuses. (200 x 10 x10 x1.5) I can do 30000 damage with a single use of vats. And all I need to do is get in sneak attack range. ALSO! That number goes up with the blitz perk, and I feel that maximum distance roughly doubles the damage, so 60000 damage in A SINGLE USE OF VATS. This comment will probably get buried, or ignored due to thus video possibly being old. I just want to see how @VinalicPumaGaming can even come CLOSE to 60000 dmg with his puny little ripper. I know this comment is absurdly long but this list is laughable if it thinks that a RIPPER is better than the A disciples blade. Absolutely piping at the absurdity of this list. 0/10, dumb very bad list.

One of the best things about power armor is any 2 handed melee weapon can be used with 1 hand and increase attack speed.

Throatslicer with max melee and sneak build is insane. Using VATS you can kill 5 or more enemies with one chain attack and the 10x damage multiplier for sneak attacks puts it in at the top when upgraded.

You can get a crippling sledgehammer from cog

I will never forget the time I ran straight up to a deathclaw and cut its head right off with just one sprint attack.

The best damage output per swing would be from a Penetrating Sledgehammer fully modded with the rocket stun pack. With VATS and a critical from a max range blitz, most enemies won't survive the hit, especially with the weighted mod on your arm armor outside of power armor.

Super Sledge with the Penetrating perk and Stunning weapon mod. I've been playing survival for a longtime now and even without the stunning weapon mod or skills invested in the melee weapon perk, its still a powerful weapon to have. Whether its survival or any other difficulty setting. just wished I used it sooner when I obtained it from a legendary enemy

I have two melee weapons favorited at all times the electrified Chinese officer sword(for power armor) and the furious power fist

The Fishcatcher, bought in Far Harbor, is f'n savage. Blacksmith 2 for the upgrade, and you're looking at 122 base damage, plus piercing, plus 40% less VATS cost on a weapon with huge melee range. Side note.. the special animation is freaking awesome. One of the hooks gets caught in the skull and you yank forward, pulling the target to their knees before they die.
