I really like Disciple. A lot of their lyrics are very obvious Christian lyrics unlike some bands that seem to try stay ambiguous.
@Captain_Kirk11627 күн бұрын
I agree with you but I don't think being ambiguous with your lyrics is wrong cuz bands like Demon Hunter, Fit For A King, and Wage War are more ambiguous but if you care about digging into the lyrics, they are very biblical
@jcarlile702527 күн бұрын
@@Captain_Kirk116 I agree with you. I like the bands you listed also. I was just stating one of the reasons I like Disciple. When I want to listen to a band praise God, I listen to a band that does it clearly like War of Ages, Chaotic Resemblance, Holyname... When I just want to listen to music I tend to listen to Demon Hunter, Killswitch Engage, Love and Death and so on.

Awesome list! I definitely lean toward the Schlitt era of Petra as my favorite Christian rock band. The first album I heard from them was a compilation album called “Power Praise” from 1994. As a teenager “Unseen Power” and “This Means War” were my go to albums. Side question: have you hard Stryper’s recent acoustic album, “To Hell with the Amps”? So good. It has been on repeat for me. Can’t wait for the Petra collection video! 🙌🏻 God bless!

🙌🏻 We need to pray for these groupmembers. Their Spiritual gifts were given for a reason. They're lyrics are much more real and powerful than todays lyrics. A lot of wisdom of a liven life is contained into these musicians and we need to care about them, as rare elders🌾 Especially in the music branch we need bold forerunners. They've been at the front, so know they have been through rough attacks during life. 🦅But glory to God, He gives strenght, and clear sight as an eagle. God bless you, sir. Keep up the good work, promoting them, "old" as "young", rock is a powerful tool in our Lord and Saviours hand. May they never stop producing! Their mature vocals have such soul in it, The Holy Spirit never break, so will never their voices, and their lungs will be kept strong and healthy to go on until He comes, in The name of the ressurected Christ🔥🎸🎛️

Thanks for this video Tim🙏 My two favorites are also Petra and Rez Band. Although Petra started to loose me with Beat the System. When back to the streets came out I didn’t like the pop sound either and couldn’t adapt to the new vocalist. Now I love his voice and really want to get all of the back catalogue that I don’t have. I definitely agree on Back to the Rock, that’s my favorite one as well. I really wish they would’ve continued with that lineup and made more albums. It’s really too bad they didn’t because those two newer songs and the older songs they reworked were just absolutely incredible.

Depends on when we’re talking but hard for me to imagine this list without Whiteheart, Sweet Comfort Band, Kerry Livgren’s AD, or the Joe English Band. The obvious problem with Christian rock bands has always been how to actually make a living at it, though, so you have quite a few that didn’t last very long yet made very good albums. I think you should be talking about Neal Morse. As a solo Artist and with The Neal Morse Band he has released 30 albums since 1999. His work on Testimony 1 & 2, One, ?, Sola Scriptura just show what an Artist can do concerning the scriptures in music. His double CD, 'Testimony' coming in at 120 minutes about his testimony in becoming a Christian is just phenomenal and no other Christian Artist has ever done anything like that nor ever will because they just don't how to do anything like that. His other work with Transatlantic, Flying Colors & D'Virgilio, Morse & Jennings are superb also.

Great video! I'm not much into the Modern Rock/Hard Rock and Metal Bands Like Skillet and Disciple except for the odd album like Holy Soldier Promise Man, Stryper Reborn and Apple Head Light Side of the Apple which all has some good songs. I watched some of Jim Coopers podcast in part or in full and that guy is into the word! Also, to me bands like Petra and Jerusalem over the years bounce from a little Light Rock but mostly Rock and Hard Rock slightly going into Metal but live they are much heavier overall. I never compared Fear Not to Motley Crue. Maybe during the Dr. Feelgood and Motley Crue 1994 era but I kind of see the resemblance. To me Fear Not is similar to Skid Row and Slaughter. From 1979 to 1994 Petra has that Bon Jovi, Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Boston vibe. Ever notice that on the song I Am On the Rock during the chorus it's similar to the Def Leppard Song Pour Some Sugar on Me, even down to the bass line? I can't listen to that song without thinking of that. I wonder how many wet socks and boots they went through filming the video on the beach near the water! I will be doing a video of ranking the top 10 or 15 bands as well.

Grammatrain Flying might be the greatest Christian rock album of all time. And don’t forget the Elms, Stavesacre, Phil Keaggy, and All Together Separate, which was fronted by the greatest voice in the genre. And if you saw Burlap to Cashmere live during the Anybody Out There tour, you’d include them too. Best live Christian show I’ve ever seen and I saw them as a 6, 5, and 4 piece. All equally amazing. Skillet lost me after album one. Disciple live 99-03 was nothing short of jaw dropping. The Elms were probably the most complete Christian bands before click tracks and canned backing, and their first three releases were very tight. Phil Keaggy is the goat rock guitarist in CCM. Stryper’s Fallen was close to CCM perfection. Good list but lots of top tier missed IMO. My honorable mention would be a little band called Broomtree out of Ohio. Traveled with Petra some. Two albums. Sunny, poppy, and lyric forward. Very good live act and kind.

Thanks for commenting on Audio A. I was a founding member of Audio Adrenaline. When we started we created "You Turn Ministries". The band was a ministry, never designed to be anything more than a platform for the gospel. Eventually the band's focus went to promoting the mission, The Hands and Feet Project. The guys were faithful all those years with integrity in their lyrics. So much depth in what they wrote.
