That intro was exactly the best version of what it was trying to be! It was like the platonic ideal of a funny fountain pen training montage. Like some scientist found the theoretical best fountain pen training montage, but it's only something that the mathematics says is possible like time travel. But then you go ahead and do it!

I love to write, sometimes 30 minutes a day, can you make a video showing some of the best workhorse pens with great grips so you can write comfortably for long periods of time. I'm sure many people would appreciate it, thanks Goulet team!

+ComandanteJ I have a TWSBI Eco, 580, as well as the FC Loom. I say they are all really exceptional pens. I think I like the Eco over the Loom, only because the Loom is a little heavier, doesn't come with a converter, and also doesn't hold as much ink. I think the Loom has a bit more quality though over the Eco. My 580 actually snapped in half, a while back, but besides that it was good--I still would prefer the Eco though.

@@AnEgg01sorry for the late reply lol but its pretty rare as most pens dont really spill ink. maybe some on your fingers but its not much. i really recommend fountain pens if you want a better writing experience!

I have the clear TWSBI 580 in a 1.1 stub nib and it's one of my favorite pens. Love the faceted barrel and the way it writes.

I'm currently re-watching most of your videos and i just have to make you a compliment there... not only the quality of the videos has improved but also you seem to be much more relaxed when filming... Oh and you got in shape darn well as far as I can tell from your torso!

This video looked like a lot of fun to make. +1 on the TWSBI 580. Especially the 580AL if you can swing the price difference. If you write a lot, the ink capacity of this pen is absolutely CAVERNOUS. Seeing it sloshing around in the body is always super cool.

The Duragraph was my 'next level' pen and I have been happy with it. The nib wasn't perfect but it was decent, once you fine tune it to the way you like it though, it is really a nice looking pen

Great intro to this vid haha :) If there are move vids like this in the future could you talk more about your personal experience with grips, comfort and such? I'm new to fountain pens and pretty much learning how to write again and I've always had trouble with finding a comfortable grip.

I bought the LAMY Studio stainless steel with fine nib after I lost my Parker Prism. Best investition ever. I am able to write a fraction into a 5mm square... And it writes really smooth.

LOVED the opening. That was REALLY creative. Kudos to you and the media team. That being said, There is I think one more, intermediate step that one could take it they are short on funds. If you have a Noodler's pen already, for less then the price of the pen you can get a Goulet nib and transform your Noodler's pen into something very nice for small money. I think I spent $15 for mine and now I love my Ahab. I'm having a whale of a time with it with a Goulet Nib. In the $50 or less range I'd say skip the rest and BUY a TWSBI diamond 580. Its an amazingly wonderful pen that writes every time with every ink I've put in it. It writes smoothly, holds lots of ink, no hard starts, dry outs or skips. It just keeps writing. Personally I'd avoid Conklin like the plague, been there done that and returned it. Of course YMMV, but this was my experience.

Love, love, love my TWSBI 580! The Duragraph is great, too. I'd really love to try that Platinum PTL-5000A. I love the EF nib on their Preppy and the 14k nib is just so tempting. Very funny video. Glad to hear the pen flush bottle only had water in it.

I got the Duragraph in Forest Green as my first "next level" pen. It's my daily carry pen and I love it! I keep it inked with Noodler's Black Eel for everyday use. I love that it looks vintage, but still sleek. The green is so pretty and not a color or finish that I see often. I'd heard about nib quality control issues, but mine is fine. Thanks for recommending it! I love the info you and your company provide to buyers!

Black "stealthy" pen nib. I was behind Enemy lines I wanted to take out my pen to record my coordinates but realised I had a standard nib that would completely reveal my location to the Eni my, what was I to do? said nobody ever in the history of the pen.

I love the Monte Verde Pens in all the different types they offer. The "Tool" Ballpoint is especially fun and functional and good as an everyday pen. I use the fountain pens when I'm Journaling or doing more serious writing. Thanks for your opinions.

i'm a beginner tentatively researching "next level up" fountain pens & at this point, i'm hoping my 1st one is the TWSBI mini. i also realize that, not writing-wise, but design/aesthetic-wise, i am not particularly drawn to metal, classic designs or expensive- looking fountain pens.

Nice review of these pens. I think I would like to purchase the platinum cool. It sounds a little like the Lamy clear pen. I don't think the Lamy is as translucent as you describe the platinum cool though. Thanks for the video!

The Goulet Pen Company I have the Conklin Duragraph in green, from your company, its a stunning pen, the Platinum Cool in clear finish and just recently bought the Faber Castell Loom. Haven't tried the Loom yet its being stashed away as a Christmas present. The Duragaph and Platinum are really great pens both very good looking in different ways and great writers I love the really modern look of the Loom and the packaging it comes in is so classy. It's great that you mention the Lamy Studio. I know it's not the high-end pen, but I really love the design and the quality. This is a pen I have several versions of, in my office at home and everywhere I go. It also works great with all inks I tried, using a converter of course.

Just a thought, but you might want to make a name change on your website from "Platinum Standard" to the "Platinum PTL-5000A" as mentioned in this video when you shop by manufacturer. I thought at first you didn't carry the pen when I looked it up by manufacturer since I didn't remember the "tax form" name from the video. :-) The name I mean is when you go by manufacturer and you see the pen names down the left hand side, i.e. Preppy, Balance, etc. This pen is just "Platinum Standard" on that list. Great video by the way!

Always have had addiction for pens and notebooks and in getting introduced to Travellers notebooks (addiction!), someone asked about fountain pens on a FB group...so here I am. I want to get a fountain pen for intro level but of all mid range you showed, if you were to suggest your favorite, which would you say?

Yeah, it's a shame that it's been discontinued. I do fine the Lamy Studio to be pretty similar (www.gouletpens.com/lamy-studio-fountain-pen-black-fine/p/LMY-L67F) just without some of the stylings. Just did a Google search and seems like a few PTLs are out there if you're set on it! - Colin

Hey, Colin! Yeah, the Lamy Studio is kinda similar but the PTLs just seem to be a bit more classy designwise. However, when it comes to fountain pens I trust only your company, haha! :D Moreover, I obviously have a thing for discontinued pens - I also loved your Monteverde Nighthawk. The newer Nighthawk is sooo awesome too, but I seem to prefer slimmer designs. :) Best Wishes!

First of all: BEST OPENING MONTAGE EVER!!!!! My 4 year old looked at me like I was crazy because I was completely busting up. This was a great video and a great list to keep in mind for my next purchases. I'm currently waiting for three packages to arrive from Goulet Pens this week >_<

The Goulet Pen Company - Margaret: I just received two of my packages! One package was the "Ink drop" subscription ( new subscriber!). The other package was of Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, sample of Pelikan " Violet" ( my daughter's name is Violet) and a sample of Goulet Pen Flush. I got shipping confirmation today for the Noodler's Ahab in "Poltergeist" and a bottle of Noodler's "Purple Heart" . Too much awesome mail!!!

My next step pens are: Waterman Hemisphere medium, steel, NOS $65. Conklin Duragraph, steel, fine, $48. Pilot Namiki Vanishing Point, medium with a "special alloy" nib, $77. Sailor Prominade 14k gold, broad, $101. Conklin Duraflex Limited Edition, black metal, flex, $105.
