Grimcoven, Odalin, and Diablo all have my attention, but reservations on depth, getting through a long campaign, and just what the mechanics will be, respectively. Isfet seems like a lock for my group's tastes. Cysmic underway but I'm still hype on. Further future I'm expecting to be in on Giga-Kaiju

These videos sometimes remind me just how different our tastes are in some cases! lol I generally dislike narrative and campaigns (with some exceptions) and Massive Darkness 2 is one of my favourite CMON games (and I love a lot of their games) because of the hero variety (even if the game is too easy out of the box). I do think a list of upcoming games is helpful. it's definitely helped me not back games I thought looked fun, but not as good as ones I was already hyped for. Obviously the list can change as games get announced, and campaigns launch and maybe don't live up to expectations. My current most anticipated (not really in order): - Mythic battles Isfet - I love the system and would love more, even if I definitely don't need it! lol - Grimcoven - I think the core system looks solid, I love scenario/one-shots, and the theme is fantastic - Blood - I love the theme, and what we've heard sounds interesting. i also love it can be played as one shots or rogue-like campaigns with no time wasted on story, lol (like townsfolk Tussle) Games I am interested in but hesitant, to very hesitant, on: - Cyberpunk 2077 - this was on my most anticipated list but the more I see, the less I care. Just does not sounds like a fun or engaging game, but maybe they will convince me. it does not help that Go On Board has yet to make a game i even want to play let alone own... - Diablo - Like you sad, they seem to be more focused on the TTRPG, plus their games have always look solid but I worry it may be a bit bloated/rules dense for my tastes,.

I agree with you on FOMO. I used to back way too many campaign dungeon crawlers. This caused me that once games where delviered to be underwhelmed on some of them. Sure a few blew me away and I was super excited but others. I wish I never backed.

Cyberpunk reminds me a lot of Project Elite (I have the cmon edition). Planning phase to stratagise what you will do and then a timer phase where things can break down due to how things play out/the frantic nature added by the timer gameplay. Other than theme, one uses more cards and less dice, and possibly how enimies are controlled; I am not seeing what differentiates it enough for me to back it. I know you could play without a timer, but some games need that frantic play to balance its relatively simple gameplay out. Project Elite is a great game for example, but I would never play it without a timer. Granted some will and thats ok. I am curious what your thoughts are between the 2 games if compared. Thanks for the continued great content!.

Oh agreed there, I'd never okay without a timer. Could extend it though, etc. really customize to your liking. Some were worried as a slower player they couldn't play it.

I keep thinking the only one I’m waiting for is Speakeasy by Lacerda… but then there’s other campaigns that have been popping up I forgot completely about. I did back out of some I felt was not worth it though(Horror on the Orient) so it’s kind of evened out for me.

Forgot Diablo was a thing for this year. Looking forward to see what they made of it. If it plays like dying light i'm not sure i like it, but i'll see. Odalin is also something on my radar. AVghost paranormal investigations looks like a fun game and The Maniac is also on my to watch list. Can't back them all so i see if gameplay wise it brings something cool i really want.

Coming from Marvel United I suspect that the base pledge is going to be very reasonably priced for what you get (a lot). The expansions is where it gets expensive. Not a big surprise for old CMON backers.

I was incredibly excited for Grimcoven, but not anymore. I love a lot of Awaken Realms games, love the theme, and I really like the boss battlers. Then I saw the gameplay/reviews that came oud and did a complete 180 on it. You're not really even fighting the boss for half the game and the mechanics weren't that engaging, and it didn't seem like a tactical battle. Then the idea of a another 3+ hour game turned me off of it. Instead I'm looking at blood from Ludus Magnus.

In Cyberpunk, You mentioned that you could "botch" the plan 9:25. But the problem is that there is no chance of that happening. What you mentioned that people had to figure out again didnt happen and wont happen because the boardgame does not react to player movements. There are no obstacles, the enemies do not chase, dodge, or respond to your attacks. There are no reinforcements, turrets, etc. None of the players were in any danger of being knocked down. There was no differentiation in any of the enemies and no dice mitigation. The pressure of the timer didn't make what was going on more exciting. People were moving cubes to do very single tasks. Even worse, there was no strategic movement or use of cover in the game. The boardstate didn't change at all or reacted to any of the player movements. The reality is that this game feels like anemic design with the added pressure of a timer that shows a lack of strategy and depth. Witcher was a simple game that looked beautiful but mechanically was slightly boring. This is taking the same formula, making even less interesting and adding a timer to hide the fact there isn't much happening. You say not to use the timer, but the problem is that there is no challenge or depth in the game. As the many comments say, the timer is NOT the issue. The issue is that there is no depth or strategy in this game.

@@TheKingofAverage Exactly. Too many are calling for a complete overhaul of a game that is a work in progress. Go on Board has already addressed that they will develop an optional no app mechanic to play out the timer. But I would tell commentors to wait patiently for OFFICIAL response from Go On Board, instead of making assumptions.

Ive cooled on Grimcoven after watching gameplay. It needs to bake longer and tweak balancing the exploration of points of interests with monster spawns and boss's damage. I need more info on Diablo. Love the IP. Have you played any of the Warhammer Quest games? Not the card game. Not 40k. But WHQ Blackstone Fortress, Cursed City, or others in that line. I just found out about them GW does a horrible job promoting them on their website. And now, they are out of print and pretty pricey. But i picked up Cursed City and am trying it out. Right off the back, these are the best minis ive ever seen! And they are push fit, so no glue and easy, keyed assembly. Would love to hear your thoughts on any of the WHQ games youve played or why you never picked them up but do like 40k. TIA

With regards to Cyberpunk, if you go to the page and read the comments, people are not having issues with the timer. The issue is not the timer, it's that there is nothing interesting happening in the game. The Enemies lack any logic, the board does not change when players move, etc etc This is a similar formula like TWOW except there is a timer and less engaging mechanics

I am almost certain to back Mythic Battles Isfet. I am looking forward to seeing Celestial come back (but I am not too certain if it will this year). I am uncertain about Odalin but will be checking it out. I will likely check out Diablo as well. Grimcoven does not interest me in the slightest, as I have more than enough boss battlers already and it just does not offer anything really new. Cyberpunk has me worried that they are changing things behind the scenes in a scramble due to the massive negativity. I think the app was mandatory, as was the timer, but they have back pedaled on both likely changing the game. That is a huge warning sign to me so I will be skipping it for certain.

You missed an important point of the Grimcoven Campaign: if you back only the standee version you are not eligible for stretch goals. That way you can also wait for the retail version.

For Grimcoven, watching gameplay the asymmetry is there but its nowhere near Massive Darkness which is great. For me its 1: Grimcoven 2: Lands of Evershade 3: Odalin 4: DC Super Heroes United 5: Dont Starve And then if theres new expansions for some of the games i already own and love. Only seen for Leviathan Wilds so far though.

@@TheKingofAverage Too bad I can't insert the SpongeBob meme when he opens his list... :) Anyway, my two cents on the issue are a combination of a few reasons. I'll list them not necessarily in their order of importance. If I have to choose one thing, it's the saturation of their market, now they put out a pricey game every month (and they will be late at least a year with the shipment...) and at some extent, everybody's budget and shelf space have a limit... CMON definitely has a loyal crowd of backers, I'm sure they have a hardcore group in the middle that is until now backed (almost) every project; and like a Venn diagram, there are various groups - Zombicide/Massive Darkness fans, DOAM style games fans, miniature fans, etc. Until end of 2023 they had an "easy" job - support a game in every quarter, but now? For half a year now, CMON has a big buck game every MONTH. I've read a lot of comments in their projects and the budget was an issue even quarterly, but now it's an ever bigger issue when they have to do it every month. They have no choice, but to prioritize to back which project. Also, unlike Monolith that releases a project when the whole game is ready (rules wise), CMON does it at an early stage. If you do it quarterly, people forget... But if you do it monthly, they barely finish one project and after a few days you are confronted with a new (half baked) project. It starts to have an effect after a while... I also have to add that while people like to criticize CMON that they don't put out "original" games, when they do so, they recruit less money than the twenty fifth Zombicde... And DC United will come out in a few weeks, people save their money for it. Also, CMON's crowd likes the "journey" itself, the "engagement", including the reaching of stretch goals when the project meets the next stretch goal. They don't have this in Gamefound and it shows up in the comments. The daily SGs don't hit them in the right spot (which is a funny thing, because it should be well known that the SGs are decided ahead and the gaps are set according to the money the project recruits - just compare Rising Sun to Mordred in that term). I'm pretty sure, even the switch to Gamefound left hundreds of backers at Kickstarter (just because some of them are too lazy to follow). By the way, that switch to GF was a constraint that CMON had to do - they had 5 unfulfilled projects which is more than the limit that KS imposes on companies - and don't forget that CMON had in plans to start a new project every month (what they did), they definitely couldn't do it at KS... Finally, just compare the performance of Genesis to Cyberpunk 2077 and Mordred. I'm pretty sure CMON misses the good old days when people "punished" them with CP2077 (mostly because of the shipment fee of Marvel Zombicide). Also, Mordred did much much better than Degenesis and oh my, CMON did a shitty job when it came to prepare the people for it, even the starting day came out of nowhere. Now? They did quite a good job, started it early, released info, gameplay, whatever you want, and... and?... They will be happy if Degenesis reaches 1000 backers or $300K... Now take a look how much money that silly Loony Tunes games made... Man, they even managed to underperform at God of War, how can you explain that?...

Grimcoven gameplay just does nothing for me, which is a shame as I was excited for it. I really need to see some gameplay for Odalin. The minis are sweet but I'm buying a game to play it and given Dragori's history of needing to tweak/refine their games I'm happy to wait for a 2nd edition. One game on my radar will be Lands of Evershade when it launches much later this year.

I haven't backed anything in a long time, I think Mythic Battles Ragnarok was the last thing I backed. Going to pass on Isfret, as its the least interesting theme of the 3, and I already have so much Mythic Battles with Pantheon and Ragnarok (and currently no one to play it with...). Odalin looks really good though. Might be the first thing I back since Ragnarok. Hadn't heard of the Diablo game, will have to keep an eye on that. Definitely recommend Path of Exile if you haven't tried it yet, been the best ARPG for a long time now.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Boardgame is looking great. Most of the comments in the Gamefound Preview Page are hovering around the optional app and timer and the assumption that the enemies don't react. The enemies do react. The enemies can stop a player from taking actions and force the player into combat rolls if you shoot them or go into their line of sight, THAT is their reaction shown in the short demonstration of a single tutorial. Some of the commentors are commenting on a short demo of 1 of the 3 TUTORIAL scenarios in the PREVIEW phase of a project for game that has not launched its campaign and that is still a WORK IN PROGRESS. Go on Board is still what crowd funding projects should look like. Crowd funding should not be a storefront for a fully tested, fully finished, fully manufactured, ready-to-sell product. It should be a place to show what is in the pipeline and gather with the community to drive towards what we want or don't want. NOT to drop in and say the game is "boring" or "Devs need to go back to the drawing board" (they are still ON the drawing board). Silly to watch when things aren't happening the way someone expects them to be and call it quits without giving it more time. Sorry, it's just a shame to see the knee-jerk negativity thrive. Go to the preview site: gamefound.com/en/projects/go-on-board/cyberpunk-2077-the-board-game Comment with constructive feedback on what you would like to see changed or that you like what you see. Leave the shaming out. Go On Board do listen. That being said: I do agree with some of the CONSTRUCTIVE comments on the project preview page, but there are some commentors shaming the devs instead of providing a way forward. Go On Board have been sending regular updates every 7-10 days, so I hope we get something this weekend to address the assumptions and perspectives that the comments are pushing.

I'm currently boycotting Monolith until they finish the actual instructions on how to play the Orcquest Warpath campaign and incorporate the expansions. The game released around 9 months ago and Monolith did no internal testing because players are OP after mission 3. It's great that that they picked up the game from the original designers (because they couldn't deliver), but the game is currently unplayable. Monolith has been promising to release the required info, but their last promise was in March, and here we are in June with no info or updates.

Great video! DC United is a soccer team out of Washington DC. I think CMON renamed the game to make it more search engine friendly.

So after watching several Grimcoven vids, game doesn't look that great for me. You effectively have to kite the boss around the board until you can kill enough smaller enemies to level your characters enough to be able to defeat it. This to me seems rather grind centric and not that fun. I was at the top of my list for theme and type of game, but Awakend Realms always has problems with mechanics when they first make a game, and then fix it later on in second editions.

The only game from this list that I'm waiting for is Diablo, not just because of the IP, which I adore, but because I really want a good and solid hack-and-slash/Action RPG. I don't want just another dungeon crawler or something similar. I was hyped for Grimcoven as a Bloodborne player, and I love ATO, so the concept of scenario boss battles seemed interesting at first. However, when I saw the gameplay, it was an instant no-go-not fun at all. Also, the player boards look so silly and childish; they don't have any Bloodborne vibe. I like double-layer boards, but the Grimcoven ones, with their strange shape and graphics, look very bad to me, like a children's game with funny-shaped player boards and colorful graphics, even though it's supposed to be "dark." The same goes for Cyberpunk. I was hyped, but after seeing the gameplay, I was disappointed. The timer tension is okay, but the game doesn't respond to player actions at all. During the cooldown phase, enemies just shoot whatever they can, and that's it. The biggest enemy is time and movement range-"Can I pick up everything and move on to the extraction zone?" Seriously? Is this what we deserve for a big IP like Cyberpunk? The rest of the games in the video are not my cup of tea.

Do you have any idea how shithouse Diablo IV was? I jumped straight on for $160AU and got to the finally pretty bloody quick. Fair dinkum, the cut scenes were worth it. I would actually encourage the producers to make a movie. It was epic. But unfortunately, it ended to fast, to soon. I have never played it since. Just saying.

Cyberpunk is a disappointment so far. Saying don’t use the timer is fine but how do you know that won’t mean the game is then broken. Your sold on it fine. Your sold on everything usually anyway plus your involved with GOB so bit of bias maybe. Take away the timer dude and you’ll see the game is mediocre. There’s nothing interesting going on in the game.

@@TheKingofAverage well for starters your photo is on campaign page. You’ve had the opportunity to demo it. You’re promoting it, probably going to preview it. Not just my thoughts, check out the comments. This game is not ready. Under the timer there is no real game. They need to rework it.
