Top Fuel Dragster Drag Strip Racing World's Fastest 338 MPH Videos US 131 Motorsports Park. Nitro Ninja. 1/4 Mile Dom Lagana Funny Car Nationals Mile Per Hour Track Record
September 9, 2017 - , Martin, Michigan: featuring the top fuel team of Lagana brothers, Dom and Bobby who reset the track record to 338.35. Twilight Zone. Fuchs.
Dom Lagana's history-making 4-second monster run and fastest QUARTER MILE record pass in the world, in the family-owned Nitro Ninja during last evening's final session of the Funny Car Nationals with an incredible 338 MPH pass! Long-acknowledged as the fastest track in Michigan, and now they can claim the PLANET! Considering that at the time of the run the air temp dipped to around 55 degrees and the relative humidity was rising well over 60%, and despite dropping a hole at approximately four seconds into the run, Lagana's incredible monster run was clean and dry. Lagana's 338.35 now eclipses the 337 mark established by Top Fuel driver Tony Schumacher, who clocked 337.58 MPH at Brainerd International Raceway way back in 2005. As if doubling-up at last weekend's US Nationals wasn't enough, Lagana's hat-trick last night was the icing on the cake in a week of non-stop celebrations.

A drag race is an acceleration contest, on a track, or dragstrip, that begins from a standing start between two vehicles over a measured distance. Drag races are a series of such two-vehicle, tournament-style eliminations. They drift, burnout, speed, in nhra or ihra, with a lot of horsepower. #racing #dragracing #topfuel

It was an incredible run given the deteriorating conditions. The team backed it down for this run. The team only wanted to go A to B without smoking the tires, because this was, after all, a show for the fans. They nailed it in spades. What's really amazing on this run...the air temp was 55 degrees, track was 72 degrees, and the humidity was over 65 percent....conditions were deteriorating rapidly. They pulled the rack after the run and it was clean. Time slip numbers: reaction: .0188 60 ft: .84 330 ft: 2.17 1/8 mile ET: 3.08 1/8 mile mph: 281.25 1000 ft ET: 3.83 1000 ft mph: 323.28 1/4 mile ET: 4.48 1/4 mile mph: 338.35

First....Dom and Bobby Lagana just won Top Fuel yesterday in Las Vegas as crew/chiefs for Steve Torrence. Top Team? This is the world's fastest 1/4 mile Top Fuel speed to date, eclipsing Tony Schumacher's 337 (Alan Johnson tuning) way back in 2005 at Brainerd. No comparison to NHRA's current 1,000' times. What the Lagana Brothers accomplished Saturday night under the deteriorating conditions is just remarkable. They only wanted to get from A to B without smoking the tires; this was, after all, a show for their fans at what they consider their home track. The incremental numbers were soft; it dropped a hole at 4.1 seconds into the run; they didn't hurt anything, and didn't blister the new set of tires. It was an impressive sight. No one was more stunned than Bobby to see that MPH come up. Their previous best was 330.29 at the track. Thank you for watching.

The best perspective on this was stated in another video (which I can't remember). They calculated that if a dragster was at the lights, waiting to start, and you went through the start at 200 mph, he'd catch you before you got two-thirds of the way down the quarter. That's some serious acceleration.

This is one of the VERY best Top Fuel runs and videos ever made, the perspective, the sound that was captured, and the incredible speed and ET for a FULL QUARTER mile run, that's history, boys. It's a shame it was a bye run and not an actual "close" race. When I was a teen in the mid 60's, what a thrill it was to see a "over 200 and sub 8 sec. run", back then "less than 4.5 sec and kissing 340 mph" wasn't even in the realm of imagination... just think of the work its taken to shave each 1/10 of a second off of those ETs over the years...

I was wondering if you were there. Sorry you missed this epic moment for your home track and the team, but glad you could relive it here. Here we thought (hoped) that McIntire would get the first .40-something in NFC, but they changed the combo prior to the event to test a larger fuel pump. Still a good show, and no one could have predicted what the Lagana Brothers pulled off. They pulled the engine down from that pass and didn't hurt one piston. Dom took a photo of the rack and sent it to Hogan. Hogan then sent it off to Prock. Proud group right there. I wish more of the racing media would have picked up on this and run with it....no matter what sanctioning body or type of event, it's a pretty big deal to us old school kids. Thank you so much!

Technically you are correct. According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, the closer you get to the speed of light, the more time slows down around you. For example: if I were to travel at 98% the speed of light for a day, 24 hours have elapsed for me but on Earth, several years have passed. So by going at this speed the driver had aged by no more than a femtosecond more than everyone else at the drag strip.

Sorry to say this but not even close to the speed of light. That car only travels 338mph while light has 670,616,629 mph and that's 0.00005% compared to the speed of light.
@datboyace13
@datboyace13 4 жыл бұрын
@@dopplerfox I believe you're confusing special relativity with general relativity. In that case, the top speed wouldn't affect time dilation, but the acceleration would. Another issue with your comment, though it is a genuine mistake that most people would make, is that you failed to take into consideration the driver's deceleration. That would cancel out any relativistic weirdness that happened during the acceleration. Now if he continues accelerating at the same rate without deceleration, then yes, he would most definitely experience time dilation.

Lj Bartley - Linking my comment with Enuo’s comment, the car’s speed is so low in comparison to the speed of light that it can be concluded that the driver would not experience any form of relativistic weirdness. I had not took into consideration deceleration either so thank you for pointing that out. But nonetheless I was referring to special relativity and to be perfectly honest, it was a bit pointless.

There are no words to describe the experience of seeing and hearing that. I understand that top fuelers reach 100 mph before their back tires reach to where their front tires were. That's 100 mph in one car-length. And the sound is the most beautiful music on earth. Like a Harley on steroids. And after sundown you get to see the flames. Nice. Dragsters, rock and roll, and Donald Trump, greatest things in the world.

Thank you for watching. Yes, Jerry....What the Lagana Brothers accomplished Saturday night under the deteriorating conditions is just remarkable. Air temp was 55 degrees, humidity around 65%; track temp was 72 degrees. Their previous best was 330.79 at US 131. Thank you for watching.

I watched a guy with huge balls, Fearless Fred Goeske, and his rocket (not jet) engined funny car go 4.80 @ 320+ MPH at OCIR in 1978. A full second and 50+ MPH faster than fuel cars were going at the time. Rocket cars run on ultra volatile hydrogen peroxide and they literally have to shut the motor off at half track to keep from going any faster.

+Jim Piver "Makes me wonder - is the car NHRA legal?" Sure. Why not? In fact, I believe Leah drove this car a race or 2 waiting on her Papa john's deal with DSR. So, I'm sure this car is NHRA legal. What's not NHRA legal is running it 1320" as they are 1000' only now. so, this must not be an NHRA track. There are probably NHRA cars that could go this fast or faster, if they could run them to 1320.
