When the sun is rising and I start jogging. This also reminds me of Aviano Air Force base. I saw an F14 tomcat take off... the twin jets firing up on the runway...a sight to behold 🤩

On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art or aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: TOP GUN

Thanks for enjoying this mix everyone. Yes I did this a while ago, as a bit of fun, and had no idea a sequel was happening. The first portion is based on the original movie intro, and the second is the last song on the soundtrack. It screamed at me to blend them. More single tracks are in progress - There are too many good songs out there that need to be longer :o)

as of TODAY my fav tune ever - 1st heard this 2 days ago and listened to nothing else, must of played it at least 100 times, prob on my 30th now, stroke of genius and u must of thought when u heard about TOP GUN 2 that this 2016 mix would be popular again... TOP JOB

@@klaasmaglaas5496 when i heard this for the 1st time prob 3 weeks ago i thought OMG where has this version been all my life, then i decided to watch Top Gun again and there it was - right at the beginning but i reckon since 1986 it was the footage of the F-14's preparing for launch and seeing Tom walking to his company car that distracted me from the music in the background - but this version i think is absolutely awesome

Saw the film when originally released in theatres in 1986 with my older sister. I was 8 years of age in 1986. Just another film that further personifies the exemplary and masterful exuberance of the 80's - an unparalleled decade of cinematic ambience and musical epitome!

This is "Bullseye". A rescue operation is to begin within the hour. Your mission is to give air support to that rescue. There are MiGs in the area, and tensions are high. If you witness a hostile act you will return fire. We will be covering 360 degrees of the compass by section. Be prepared for anything.

@@garymarshall3212 I never understood why the Russian MIGs would be carrying French missiles. My guess is because they were the most widely known missiles that were not American. It was famous for sinking the HMS Sheffield at the Falkland Islands in 1982 a few years before the movie came out.

@@charlesmills8712 The movie is intentionally vague about who the "enemy" nation is, but they pretty heavily imply that it is a Third World country, probably Arab or Persian. Almost all of these countries flew Soviet planes modified with French equipment in some way. We'd been variously tangling with the Iranians, Iraqis, and (especially) the Libyans for about 6-7 years straight when Top Gun came out, so it was pretty obvious which short list of enemies it was supposed to be.

Reminds me of my Navy days. A lot of the locations for Top Gun were at the old Naval Training Center San Diego. and RTC and Miramar. Miss those days.

It was a good jet, but it had some inherent problems. A lot of times you had to "Fly the throttles" vice flying the jet. It had good legs and a good ordinance-load.
