Top Gun - Launch Dave Timms on Alert 5

You know Top Gun.... The chips are down and Hollywood has just been shot down by a MiG 28. Maverick is waiting in the Alert 5 aircraft as a backup if needed... but wait! There were no serviceable F-14s available. So Maverick and his partner had to borrow Dave Timms' Long-EZ. The next best thing to get the job done.
How does this turn out? You'll just have to watch the KZfaq and then rent the movie!

That alert 5 will take him about 3 days to reach Iceman. Hope ice can handle 5 migs for 72 hours

But make no mistake. MiGs hate going up against a Long Easy like Maverick is flying here. They don’t show up on radar and even if you get missile lock you have flown past them already!

Could you imagine loading a sidewinder on that long easy? Launching the sidewinder would tear the wing off!

You’re right about the nose wheel. It looks like it almost snaps when hitting a crack in the pavement while taxiing!

The AWG-9 radar is suppose to detect targets 100 miles out and guide Phoenix missile out to 62 miles. But it’s TV.

Can go way farther the pheonix can shoot theoretically 100+ nm on qn un maneuvering target at about 40 thousand feet on an equally high targer

@@user-xf5lw1xu4i I made many cuts to shorten this clip. My friend has the yellow airplane and I wanted to splice his airplane in as Tom Cruise’s Alert 5 F-14 Tomcat. It’s a little corny but it turned out fun. I lived in Tokyo for two years as a senkyoshi. Where do you live?

@@michaelbryantsavage I envy the United States for having a private plane.There are too many people in Tokyo and I'm not good at it.I like the countryside better than the city.I live in a rural town in kyusyu.

@@user-xf5lw1xu4i Kuroshiro san, Private flying in the US is a very expensive hobby. But I bought my airplane, a 1981 Cessna 172 on EBAY for $35,000. That is cheaper than many cars. I hope you can find a way to take a demonstration ride at a local airport and see if flying could be a part of your future. Tobu no wa takaii desu! Mike
