I'm shocked that Barcelona isn't number one! I'm Australian and travelled to several of these countries. Dubai was a nightmare as I went during ramadam and couldn't buy water anywhere. Had to do with very warm water in bathrooms in Seiks. Kuala Lumpur I've always found lovely can wander around the city after midnight as a woman and feel safe. Been to Singapore a dozen times and loved it. In France I went to the French Riviera and skipped Paris. London is a nightmare the traffic and points of interest are a nightmare. Bangkok I haven't noticed the huge crowds as much as...Barcelona. so many tourists it's unbelievable. I'm certain the locals who are not involved in the tourist industry are fed up

I feel the title is totally misleading. The cities on this list are not struggling to deal with excessive tourism. People in London, Paris, New York etc can go about their lives despite the numbers of tourists. Venice is a city that is struggling. Tourist outnumber inhabitants. It is easier to buy a carnival mask than 500ml of milk

This was interesting, thanks ... though admittedly it seemed like it was 8 ways to say the same thing ... too many tourists drown the thing they came to visit and drive cost of living so high the locals are forced out of their own city while the infrastructure is overloaded.

Last year I went to Greece & Italy is just too much visitors! I did not enjoy it. It's like Disneyland here in Anaheim, California.

All major cities around the world have the same common denominators.... traffic jam, throngs of people everywhere especially in all major attractions, souvenir shops and retail stores you can find at your nearest mall in your hometown.

San Francisco is #1 in drug and homeless tourism.
@robtangent4664

Well misinformed. San Francisco is not even on the top ten list of cities with highest homeless rate in the United States. Both LA and NYC have higher rate than San Francisco. Google it!

Come to Taiwan! Great place (I live here). Just don't come during the summer/early fall, too hot. Not all that many tourists, Taiwanese friendly, cost of hotels is reasonable, food is great and clean, cheap trains go everywhere (as well as great subway in Taipei).

By 2100, the world's population is projected to reach approximately 10.9 billion, with annual growth of less than 0.1% - a steep decline from the current rate. Between 1950 and today, the world's population grew between 1% and 2% each year, with the number of people rising from 2.5 billion to more than 7.7 billion.

Oh yeah, I don't think they struggle, and they are not complaining over all the money they earn of tourism. They could use some of that money to create the infrastructure and spend it maintenance.

@@WorldWideWowOfficial Yes but many of the hot locations are much better in the winter. I live in Taiwan and winter would be the best time to visit. Dubai as well. KL and SG, well, it's not really much cooler in the winter. And even NYC is not that awful in the winter (grew up on Long Island).

Guess you can call this a top 8 of the most visited cities Yes Khaosan road is very touristy, like St Marc Square is in Venice or the Montmartre is in Paris. Stil its relatively easy to escape from the masses. For me it feels worse in cities like Hallstatt, Austria. Yes they might only get up to a million tourists, but less than 900 people live in the city. If Bangkok had that amount of tourists, it would be 11 billion tourist each year

A lot of those visitors are not tourists, SG hosts so many business meetings, conventions, etc. They just hang out at the convention, leave 3-4 days later so, yeah, don't think they are causing the traffic problems.

@Pink Velvet....there are many interesting places in both Italy and Greece where you can experience the country without tourist hordes. Even in places heavily visited, such as Santorini in Greece, you can find quiet parts without too many tourists. Poros Island is a relatively short ferry ride from Athens. Go during the week. It won't be crowded. @Richard Campbell.. we should stay home because of a non-existent "climate emergency"? You, sir, need to get out more instead of worrying about nonsense.

Thats why after a zillion vacations I moved to Brasil. Different language, doesn't really cater to foreigners. Perfect place to go to get away from the assholes that live around you, and BP is easy to learn, but the people you want to leave behind think it is and it's violent for idiots who can't figure it out.
@solarnaut
@solarnaut Жыл бұрын
That's a beautiful mindset . . . anyone who is a victim of violence must be an idiot who can't figure it out ? Not sure how that translates in BP, but in English it's called "blaming the victim." You know what George Carlin says is the best thing about living on the water? You only have assholes on 3 sides of you. B-)

This video is silly. That it doesn't include places like Barcelona or Venice or Rome just shows that it is only a list of the most visited cities with the same laundry list of urban ills read over the top of each segment rather than a serious study of the places which are being negatively impacted by too many visitors. Take Bangkok for example. It is untrue to suggest that tourism is destroying the city's parks and green spaces, and equally false to say that tourists are creating the congestion on Bangkok public transit or competing with locals for health care.
@markfoley3923

@@WorldWideWowOfficial Okay. I can appreciate that. But I hope you understand my point, which is that placing Bangkok at the number one spot on this list borders on disinformation. I have many Thai friends, small business owners, who make their living in the tourism industry, and their businesses have still not fully recovered post pandemic. If people were to buy into this incorrect narrative that tourism is hurting Bangkok and not visit Thailand as a result, it could unnecessarily harm those small businesses. Please be careful, because intentionally or not, you could be exacerbating economic problems for people who deserve far better. Thanks.
