Thanks for the insightful comments about the dr10. I was tempted to get the drag slash as it’s come down in the price but I’m more of a car guy vs a truck guy and wasn’t going to change out much due to cost. Was worried about the plastic tranny gears but it seems with the stock motor it’ll be fine. I haven’t seen any videos about tranny gear failures. I do like the suspension comparisons. Thanks for the video!

With pleasure. As far as transmission failures, look for B6 or SC6 failures. The internals are the same for the DR10. And they are durable. My SC6 had a 9.5T run on carpet with jumps. I swapped a 13.5T Trinity and the Hobbywing to compare the motors. So it has the HW in it. Point is, anything can break, but it will hold well. If something internal goes out in these 6 series models, it is usually the idler. But keep in mind that these vehicles gearboxes on carpet take a lot... a lot of abuse.

This a trick I learned from a youtuber compete mudboss competition. He clean all the grease from the traxxas transmission to make the gears lose the resistance the grease makes, and the diff he does is the same. My traxxas halve slash rustler have that and you can hard lunch without problem. Today, I will do the same to my 22s, and fornthe thing I now the better drag rig dr10m, I know you don't mentioned because the motor is mid not back make dr10m the best option soo far, the only issues I see you need to replace the end rod for better ones

Silly question. Im just getting into no prep and am also really excited about just the way the vehicles look as well as everything under the body. I've been leaning towards the Losi from a standpoint of all the bodies im interested in seem to say they are for the losi. Im also interested in aftermarket parts. So my first question is can all of the platforms accept all of the bodies out there? Do they all have the same stance if you have the same wheel/tire combo? Also once you get into aftermarket parts and start replacing things like chassis, shock mounts etc, what makes your car still a Losi or a DR10? Thank you for this video and for furthering my obsessing about which one to buy lol.. I was ready to pull the trigger on the Losi until now. :)
@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc 2 жыл бұрын
All of the bodies can be swapped between the chassis. You will simply need to ream new holes to fit. My bashed/test body is a 1967 Mustang and it has holes to fit the DR10, DR10M, Slash, and Losi. Now, not all bodies are the same dimentions. For example, the Mustang Fox Body body is narrawer by a bit and tends to rub. That was the first body I ever ran. The 1967 Mustang is wider and so is the Bettydesign M550 (which looks amazing). Before you buy one, see what parts you are interested in. At what point is a Losi really a Losi, or a Traxxas really a Traxxas? That is the Theseus Paradox but with an RC rather than a ship. Where I am going with this is you may be better off buying the parts and building it. I am not sure if you are wanting to buy one right away of if you still plan to shop. But check out my DR10M build video. I am finishing up a video about weight balance change comparing the DR10 and DR10M for tomorrow.

@@telecomandorc I'd like to build one from the ground up, because of this, the DR10 kit was interesting because the Losi comes as a roller. I'm super interested in the visuals and Losi seems to win that hands down... I figured I could buy aftermarket parts to remedy anything under the hood, but not if the aftermarket stuff is simply the same part blueprint made from a different material.. for example Drag Race concepts makes a sway bar for the DR10 that also completely changes the shock geometry for more of a vertical setup.. but they don't make that part for the Losi. I see shock tower replacements for the Losi but not sure if they change the geometry. As far as interesting parts, RC Bombshell visuals are excellent and they seem to build all of their stuff from the Losi platform, so this made me start to believe that i needed to go Losi if I wanted to attain these types of visuals. But in reality if all of these chassis end up with the exact same dimensions as far as wheel and tire placement and ride height, then you should be able to achieve the same look with all of them... I just haven't seen the proof of that yet. I really like the Losi Ford Truck.. but if I knew for 100% sure that if I bought that body, the wheels and tires that Losi puts on that vehicle but build it on the DR10 platform and it would come out looking exact.. that's what I would probably do. I have seen the DR10M and I think, in my current state of mind, I would want to "grow" into that type of build so that I can learn the differences. I've also been considering buying RTR so that I would have something that could run and then learn as I start to swap out parts or make adjustments. In the end, I will ultimately put performance first (which is why the DR10 and all the aftermarket parts appeal to me), but I also want to put it on the trailer and pull it around town a bit. :)
@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc 2 жыл бұрын
@@robjdrum The Losi truck (amazing by the way) does fit the others. You just need to ream new holes. MY DR10M is running Drag Slash wheels and tires. The wheel base between the Losi and Dr10 are about the same. You can swap rear wheel hexes too, but you do not need to. The Drag Slash and Losi have M/T tires but the Slash was wider tires in the rear. They are wider inward and does not affect the overall width. They all have kickup in the front. The DR10 can be changed by replacing the bulkhead. This affect how the tires move up and back during compression. So the wheel base on all will vary a little (enven Losi to Losi) depending on ride hight or, in the case of the DR10, the front kick up angle. If you really want a Losi, get it. It is the least expensive after discounts. I paid maybe $160 for a roller on sale or open box (check Tower Hobbies and their discount codes). The DR10 roller is sometimes $170 (check Amain and their discount codes). Now, DR10M rides high in the front and some upgrades need to be made. Dr10 is the lightest by a lot, followed by DR10M about 50g more, then Losi much more, then Drag Slash over 200g more than the DR10. The Losi Al chassis looks great and has all metal gears. The DR10M is the only true kit. The DR10 and Losi are roller, and the Drag Slash is RTR only. What kind of performance goals do you have? Stock 13.5T or as low of a turn motor as possible?

Sadly, I sold my Bandit which I now regret so, so bad because I was going to build a Nova 'hot rod' AKA drag car without the low profile stance and drag wheels (replace with on roads). I'm a big Nova fan, so I really want the Pro-Line version at least, but the rough roads where I go would be totally impractical for a low sitting drag car and the drag wheels would also be a joke on dirt or gravel. My dilemma is that I have 2 current options, the local hobby store is selling the discontinued Losi 22S roller for $130 CDN. Yeah, it's still overpriced seeing how it doesn't come with the body. There's a disassembled Slash HCG 2WD slider for $40 on Marketplace (it needs all screws and some parts like bellcrank, slipper, etc). My concern is that I'd run into is that there'd be no front bumper system since a rally version was never made for the Slash HCG 2WD and even if there was, it'd ride up too high in the Pro-Line Nova body. Secondly, the platform might look odd. If I bought the Losi roller which would be more expensive either way, but then I wouldn't have to worry about much other than raising up the platform and using Bandit wheels or finding some 1/8 scale wheels with a bit of a stagger to get that 'hot rod' look. My only concern with the 22S is that the chassis is blocking the arms (especially in the rear) from over extending down much. Is that true? I think that's what you meant? If so, I think that chassis is not for me.
@DystrophicEvolution
@DystrophicEvolution 9 ай бұрын
I checked your other video and the front arms setup looks like they're able to lower quite a bit on the Losi, but not the rear as the rear arms will surely hit the chassis. What a dumb setup. sigh

You can get the Drag Slash bumper and put it in the HCG Slash. The HCG and LCG Slash models use the same bumper. And the Drag Slash bumper fits the LCG... that's what I did. So, it must fit the HCG.
@DystrophicEvolution
@DystrophicEvolution 9 ай бұрын
True, that one does fit because it's the same bulkhead between all 3. Thanks, I forgot that Traxxas made a bumper for that. Typical Traxxas selling the Drag bumper mounts separately from the freakin' foam. I really wished the 4x4 Slash had the same wheelbase as the 2WD because I have two 4x4 Slashes just sitting, but 10mm difference between the wheels is a considerably negative aspect and I don't want to start hacking up a Nova body. I'm very retentive how it would look because it's not exactly cheap. My project is surely going to hit the $200 mark fast and likely beyond being that the Nova body will be almost half of the cost itself. lol

The LHS has the foam and mounts. Jennys' has a far better deal where you get the complete bumper plus some other various drag parts for roughly the same price. But, the shipping isn't Canada friendly as it almost costs the same as the parts pack and costs more than the bumper locally. lol Thanks for the tip nonetheless. JennyRC would be a hell of a deal for someone in the States to piece a drag car together. $60 USD to get a LCG drag slider going minus the transmission, bellcranks, 7 turnbuckles, and chassis screws. Not bad at all.

I would not doubt the sales numbers because Traxxas just sell. Many of us started with a Bandit and Slash and made a "drag slash" before it even was a Traxxas model. Traxxas was smart and capitalized on it and made a kit. Out performs? No. Not even close. The 2021 King of the street used a DR10 based platform. The Drag Slash is a very good rig especially if one already has other Traxxas rigs and part. The thing is heavy in comparison.

I would strongly recommend you re-watch the video. I did not say the DR10 and Losi way the same. I said the DR10 weighs 1638g and the Drag Slash was about 300g more (estimating as I did not recall at this time and it was not the purpose of the video to compare the Drag Slash). Then I said the Losi is 1825g... for all intents and purposes I would just say the Losi and Drag Slash are the same (considereing the Losi is about 200g heavier than the DR10)... I never said the DR10 and Losi weigh the same in the beginning of the video. The Dr10 is way lighter. Re-watch the beginning and let me know.

@telecomandorc
@telecomandorc 6 ай бұрын
@@jasonhuyghesr390 Not quite, my friend. It is simple math, I agree. The Losi is 1825g. Say the Drag Slash is 1925g. That is 5% more. A 180lb guy vs. a 300lb guy is a 67% increase or we can say that 300lb to 180lb is a 40 percent reduction since 180 is 60% of 300. Say the bike (motocross?) is 300lb... that would be 480lb compares to 600lb which is still a 25% increase. Now that we have our math. Add 270g for a battery and say 150g for a body. That is 420g... so the Losi would be 1825g+420g=2245g and the Drag Slash would be 1925g+420g=2345g for a weight % difference of 4%. To use your bike, it would be more like a 300lb guy and a 285lb guy... or a 180lb guy and a 189lb guy. Which means it does not matter compared to the skill of the driver and setup of the machine. Therefore, with only a 5% or less difference we can generalize they are the same for the point of this.
