One of the most prolifically successful actors of his generation, Christopher Lee racked up an astonishing number of performances in his long career, and, let’s be honest, those performances included a lot of villains. His basstones and imposing presence made Lee a go-to bad guy and that means that as well as an astonishing number of performances, Lee may have died onscreen more than any other actor. These are our Top Ten death scenes of cinema’s real dark knight.

Lee - plays villains in the majority of his films. The Movie Industry - "So you have chosen death." His death in The Four Musketeers (1974) is especially ironic and cathartic when you take into account that, mere seconds earlier, he used his knife to break the tip of D'Artagnan's sword, meaning that D'Artagnan ran him through with a broken, jagged blade. Ouch!

Yes, through several layers of heavy clothing, muscle, etc, and all the way out his back! Almost as impressive as when Paul shoved a slightly sharpened railroad tie into him in Dracula Has Risen From the Grave. At least Rochefort was lunging towards D'Artagnan at the time.

Semantics 😐 It was in fact his last film for Hammer as the “company” Robin refers to at 11:11 (and the family Lee saw it as) has long since ceased to exist, and during its defunct period has been reduced to a mere commodity to be bought & sold (multiple times), and referred to as a “brand” to be “invested in” and to “develop its global potential” as stated by the owner of the media consortium that currently holds ownership of the Hammer name & film catalog, giving it the rights to list whatever they happen to produce alongside its classic titles 😕 Had the company continued to endure to today, i could almost agree with you, but since being reduced to a resuscitated brand name, its modern incarnation is indeed ‘in name only’.

I agree that the best Christopher Lee death scenes came from "Horror Of Dracula" and "Dracula Has Risen From The Grave". They were at least the most dramatic and satisfying. However, when it comes to my favorite death scene, I have to give it to Robert Shaw in "Jaws" (1975). I didn't expect it to make the main list, but I have a fondness for him (and his demise) in _Airport '77._ It was the first film I ever saw him in, believe it or not; though I was aware of his Dracula movies, this was pre-VHS rural Florida, and the only station our aerial antenna picked up didn't show a lot of Hammer films on the Late Late Show. Lee played an incredibly gentle and innocent man still devoted to his shrill, abusive, unfaithful, alcoholic wife (played by Lee Grant) and, despite helpful intent, one misstep gets him killed as the franchise's standard fatality-signaling-the-start-of-the-third-act. This leads to a gruesome scene as his body, outside the submerged aircraft, floats past the windows in full view of his wife, who promptly loses what little sanity she had left. You even included a clip of _The Last Unicorn!_ His big soliloquy is the film's highlight to me.

I think Airport and The Passage have to be the only deaths I didn't see a clip for, but I might have missed either due to the overwhelming number of bits, which quite took my breath away, even on the 3rd viewing. Staggering amount of work went into finding, selecting and collating the clips. And the script was the usual perfect mix of information and humor.

I completely agree with your number one. The first time I saw that movie i immediately went back and watched the final fight and death two more times in a row. A fantastic job from two fantastic actors.

You know who has perhaps the most badass villain death in cinema? Max Von Sydow's Ming the Merciless in FLASH GORDON (1980). Our hero flies his spaceship through a gauntlet of laser fire just to crash it into Ming's palace, impaling him upon it's pointed nose... but he isn't dead yet. Flash offers to spare his life but (dying anyway) Ming tells Flash, "My life is not for any earthling to give or take," and disintegrates himself with his own ring of space magic. Over the top, almost mythic, unsympathetic to the end, with a dash of humor and just perfect.

It's kinda ironic and hilarious that Lee played so many Germans when he actually was fighting them during the war in a rather hush-hush sorta way.

Look, I know it doesn't count, but I think that 'Never, never say die' is one of the best Avengers episodes. Mad killer robots stopped by short wave wireless and BMC (British Motor Corporation) estate cars! And Private Godfrey is in it as well...

Who was more prolific? Christopher Lee or Stan Lee? (& Artist Jack Kirby) The fact you have to think about it? Incredible. Chris was one of Cinema's Titans & he never lost sight or his morals while acting in Hollywood. (Minus the movies for Hammer he was strong-armed into for the sake of everyone's jobs, mind you)
