As a UCONN fan I’m relaxed about the upcoming season while still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping against any major injuries especially at the 5. Btw I’m hoping that Sarah Strong becomes our new Mya Moore. The competition at other positions will just make everyone better. UCONN let’s go win that dam NCAA Championship this year.
@chasnami7 күн бұрын
It doesn't make everybody better. The ones who survive will play and Geno sits the rest. Out of 14 he will play the usual 8 player rotation and will give excuses on why the others do not play. From 2017 until the injury years that is the way it was.

I've been excited since the day after the final four because that is when Sarah committed. It almost feels like it's impossible to have another injury season. It would be 4 years in a row. But I don't wanna make it come true by saying it can't happen. I think if everyone on both teams is healthy, the game against South Carolina will be amazing. It will honestly be the battle of the benches/freshman. Because you know the stars on both teams will show out, whoever steps it up either on the bench or as a quiet role player will make the biggest difference. I honestly cannot wait. It's hard to remember the last time UConn was actually stacked but I am hoping this is the year.

I think Ice is going to be a surprise this season. I've seen video of her recently looking ripped with six pack abs -- she must be living in the weight room. Upper body strength is the key to finishing at the rim at this level and above. That's why Paige became nearly unstoppable inside last season -- she worked on her upper body non-stop while rehabbing her knee.

On #10, I think that Geno is being a bit optimistic. Personally, I just think there are some injury prone/brittle players on the roster. And we have them for one more season. I am more confident in a healthy roster for 25/26. On Sarah Strong. There are a lot of threads and discussions about who should start. And UConn fans want to treat players that have been here with respect. But I hope they understand that strong is a game one starter. Just like Paige. Geno puts everyone on the court and Sarah is the second or third best player. So, of course she is starting guys. She is a lock lol.

Great video, but I can't say that I appreciate the Nika slander, lol. Even though she had me on the edge of my seat regularly with her tendency for foul trouble, you can't deny the defensive prowess she brought to the game. Her aggressive defensive style of play is bound to cause her foul trouble at times, but it's also the same style of play that kept them in the big games like Iowa with Clark's shooting just ripping through teams the entire season. Even with the Syracuse game, she had some big foul trouble, but that can't outweigh the impact she had on the game by keeping Dyaisha Fair (an absolute baller on offence and so incredibly underrated) at bay for the most of the game. The same could be said for the Southern Cal game with Juju Watkins. And above all that, she is still the all time, season and single game assist record holder at Uconn, and with the guards that we've seen come through the program, holding those records speaks volumes. Therefore I think that losing Nika should not, in my opinion, be a part of the list. I agree that getting some more depth in that position, especially with the addition of Chen, is exciting but I don't think that losing such a dominant force as Muhl on the court, should be a contributing factor to the hopefully successful of 24-25 season. Other than that, I'm really excited to see El Alfy finally play and I agree with you that this season could potentially be a breakout season for Ice Brady. I'm looking forward to seeing Shade and Arnold step up to the plate a little more now that they have a year's worth of experience to build on during the off-season. Still, love the video. Keep up the good work! Go Huskies!

@@back2sports I know it's a sore subject (despite Nika's strong fanbase) because there are at least a few loud haters who wanted her gone/benched even though UCONN had no one elso to fill in her spot. Usually if something went wrong, most of the blame landed squarely on Nika and Paige (mostly Nika). Barring injuries, I don't think the pg position will be solely reliant on one person. UConn will (hopefully) be able to play people to their strengths. I can only imagine how much pressure Nika felt. She never said anything directly, but her response to fouls and turnovers in interviews (especially after the Notre Dame loss) are definitely worth reading/listening too. I've been kind of bummed about her not getting minutes off the bench in Seattle, but I wonder if she's relieved with not having to deal with that type of pressure. I am glad that I don't have to hear "she needs to score 10 pts every game for UCONN to win" critcism, but maybe that's part of the job description. I've already heard similar rumblings about KK.

I shouldn't say this, but I'm excited for the new season too. If Azzi develops and pairs well with Paige, it's gonna be lights out. You can't double both of them. I mean you can, but if you do our bigs will feast no matter who's playing, and with Ash quietly waiting in the wings for the odd three pointer plus the occasional rebound... Caroline (if she plays) Ashlynn and either KK or Kaitlyn, depending on who's starting, coming off the bench will be awesome. Assuming Jana and Sarah start, you've got Ice and Annaya sitting on the bench. It would be nice to see some ball pressure in the backcourt and to get the starters a breather. No more 40 minutes for anybody. I think you've hit it wrong with Nika. Yes, she was foul prone, and we lost a couple of games because she fouled out. But she was the one who got us there in the end, along with Paige and Aalyiah.

Well IMO which is much different then most, makeup of this years team is no different then since Paige arrived. I think Paige may have finally learned her lesson in the Iowa loss and she will dominate games start to finish. If all healthy I am looking forward to Paige, Chen, Azzi, Strong and the player everyone else has forgot Caroline. Only if she is healthy but she will make a huge difference if she is. I would think by now a decision would have been made by now if she isn't so I am assuming she is until I hear otherwise. KK and Ash are going to have to make an adjustment going from, 30+ to 15-20 MPG . Ice has to make a significant jump in her play and I also think that Jana is in the same boat Ice was last year. Jana has missed a whole year of practice and games. Right after season ended I saw where Griffin will not be ready until after 1 Jan, so we have to wait how that works out. Same with Patterson. Q will be fighting for minutes as will Cheli and Morgan. Like I said we have had this storyline since Paige. If all goes well Paige, Azzi and Caroline will lead the way in my scenario. I also read somewhere that Strong has been dealing with an injury. If that's true why is she playing right now? IMO she should be resting and taking care of herself. I think Paige and Chen will play 25+ MPG with he rest 15-25. Also would like to see them play SC at strength. Like Geno commented it's only Jun, let's wait and see what we got.

Niki fouled out some but she was a lock down defender- best on the team- so you're wrong on that- question is who will fill her shoes with assits and defense? Ice showed something this year already- she is ready-. Gino will take care of the freshmen and make sure they are battle ready without having to rush them like KK and Ashlynn had to this year. Freshmen most of the time need a year especially with the disciplined defense and upbeat offense. Given all the talent on the bench, UConn will have unbelievable depth. It will come down to whose chemistry and skill set best gels with others. Health is the key and thye will be a threat for some years to come.

You can hear the fire in her voice and the fire in her countenance; she should be lights out. Strong is a big just coming in and bigs find out in a hurry it's way more physical inside at this level. She should beat out Brady easily. I'm one of those who feel Azzi is just too fragile so they'll really limit her minutes and with this group scoring shouldn't be a problem so she won't be that vital. Azzi Fudd, I've seen her take over games sometimes and at other times she stays ice cold. I don't think I've ever seen her play a full game consistently. I'm going to hold my breath that both her and Paige can stay healthy for at least one year. They remind me of Shea Ralph, who woulda, shoulda, coulda if not for all those knee injuries. Aaliyah Edwards was actually involved in some way in about half of their injuries over the past couple years. Probably just a coincidence but if UConn stays relatively healthy this year...Seriously though, her departure is going to put them in a situation where they have no experienced post players, even though Ice showed some signs at the end of the year. Historically, UConn post players have not developed very quickly. The post develops will be the key to how far they can go this season.
